Royalton Resorts Grenada - Very Very Disappointing

If you read below a person called JB who wrote a review on Royalton Grenada, I think JB hit the nail on the head with everything written. HOWEVER, just wanted to add further.
The swimming pool next to the so-called diamond pool area, was, most of the time, a cream sort of colour rather than clean, clear water, I assume due to the mass of suntan lotion and floating skin particles which congregated at the corners of the pool most evenings. Do not wear goggles in the pools as you may wish you never went in. If you looked down from the balconies situated to the side of the pool area you can quiet distinctively see how unclean they are, just by the colour of water. Must do better.
Diamond Club reception food: - This was a real eye opener when the food arrived depending on time of day it was just left open, cold eggs, cold meats, stale sandwiches that curled up at the edges god knows what was inside them in fact after 20 min it was mostly all cold or very best Luke warm, it was just left there. No food hygiene, no refreshed food, unless you were there when the food arrived you would have had a cold breakfast, cold lunch and snacks with luke warm coffee (all the time)
Restaurants: -
The Italian did pizzas, however when we asked for a Florentina pizza, they took the order however forgot to mention that they didn't have, Goats cheese, no Mozzarella, no spinach not even onion. This was for the whole week
The buffet area was no better, how can you be situated on a beautiful Caribbean Island and have no decent fruit on offer, I tell no lies there was just small chunks of watermelon, some apples and a few bruised bananas. The queue for the eggs in the morning was so long at times it kept the dividing doors open, as had only one chef cooking (who was very good under the circumstances)
Nightly entertainment: -
Well not sure who they were trying to entertain, but I've not seen such poor evening’s entertainment for a long time, on two occasions there was a solo violinist in the evening, to be fair, she was talented at playing the violin and could certainly move but electric violin, so loud and distorted it was ear breaking, ruined Hotel California
Lastly and must not forget – The staff at the hotel could not have been nicer, very welcoming from start to finish, however, this unfortunately dose not cover the disappointing stay we had, which will not be repeated ever at the Royalton Grenada resort.

Beautiful hotel on a beautiful island full of beautiful people

Stayed at the Royalton St Lucia, I can’t fault anything about this hotel.
The rooms are absolutely amazing with a fantastic sea view. The food was out of this world with loads of choices in different restaurants.
All the staff from management through to the maintenance staff were fantastic always checking you were enjoying your holiday. Possibly the best holiday I have ever had.

Royalton Punta Cana - Do not book this hotel

Broken down air con, staff rude and unhelpful, the ‘unlimited reservation-free’ dining is a fabrication, it is impossible to get a table in any of the a la carte restaurants unless you stay Diamond Club (and funnily they do get reservations!). The only way we could secure a table for our children’s momentous 18th and 16th birthdays was to offer money to pay for expensive wine. All of our party suffered diarrhoea and some sickness, and it was repeated after eating in the buffet restaurant, so we ended up not being able to eat. Dirty, brown rain water dripping through buffet roof right next to food being cooked and served. Foul stench by refrigerators. Staff taking drugs in restaurant toilet. Dirty fingerprints on all glass doors (and no sign of being cleaned during our stay). Rooms dated and dirty, with bathrooms a real issue.

These are just some of the things we experienced during our two-week stay which cost over £23,000 with Tui UK. Complained to their reps in resort and via their app, and since being home. No response whatsoever and they have closed our cases today.

Please, please do not make the same mistake as us and be fooled into thinking this was be an amazing hotel. It could be, but it’s not and we have been left shocked and saddened, not only by our experiences but the complete lack of care or customer service received from both the hotel and Tui. Look elsewhere and don’t use Tui; please, please!

Holiday from hell- Royalton Splash Punta Cana

Throughout the holiday we've had 4 room changes over 7 trips to reception and countless hours spent waiting in reception which is not what I paid all of this money for. As a result of this I have not been able to spend the time with my children as I had hoped and have been extremely stressed out to the point where I have been in tears in front of my family and other guests. The staff here are so rude, there is absolutely no hospitality skills, if you are in their way they will literally barge you out of their way.
The ceilings are dripping all over the place, the rooms are filthy and while being in the third room alls we hear each night is the loud TV next door. I have never been so disappointed with a holiday before. I have spent a huge amount of money on what was meant to be a special holiday. I will be taking this further as I do not believe that this hotel has been properly vetted for it to be given 4 stars. There is no air con in any of the restaurants so expect to be eating your meal while dripping of sweat.
There was a leak in the bathroom above the sink which was right next to a light in our room. A leak above the toilet which formed a puddle which my 4 year old slipper on in our room. Both of these leaks gradually formed mould around them and then the ceiling began to crack. There are stains all over the bedding and towels. The fridge door didnt close properly so leaked and when the person refilling the fridge saw it they didnt think to do anything. We went to Jade restaurant, we each ordered a starter. We all received our starter apart from my son. The man told us that what he had ordered was too spicy for him and walked off. He didn't offer my son an alternative and had no idea how much spice he can handle so he just assumed. My son therefore was left with no starter. The staff did not care about any of these issues whatsoever as we went to reception to raise them. The manager even caller my room to explain he will improve my experience while I am here and I never heard from him again. I will never be returning and I really hope others read this review and give it a second thought before they do also.

TUI and Royalton Negril Horrific experience

Holiday started with tui flight being cancelled so lost one night at Royalton Negril Tui not helpful whats so ever especially with a child with additional needs .

Jamaica is one of the most beautiful countries I have ever been to and have ancestral connections to this land. However, I would never stay at the Royalton resort again due to there being extensive issues with my room in terms of electricity, not working every single day I stayed at the hotel, so then we change to a new room where the connecting door lock was broken. The back door lock was broken. The toilet was broken and the general untidiness and cleanliness of the rooms being extensively bad never cleaned very well, always smelling musky and mouldy drawers where the children’s clothes were smelling extremely musky and mouldy and generally rude staff members at reception throughout the hotel at the towel stand, never ever having vegan burgers at the burger hut even though there is a clearly labelled vegan burger choice. In general, the hotel staff extremely rude. I would never ever stay at this hotel again, however, will return to Jamaica like we do every other year but never royalton negril. On one of the first few nights in the hotel, we visited the calypso Jamaican cuisine restaurant where I had asked for my child to have an orange juice and was actually given a Mamosa which contained Prosecco. I explained to the staff that they had given my child an alcoholic beverage to be then met with five members of staff, following me out of the restaurant and trying to intimidate me whilst telling me they absolutely did not give my child alcohol when I have had many alcoholic beverages throughout my adult life im well aware if the difference my husband had also tried the drink and stated there was also alcohol present I was left feeling extremely intimidated and cornered. I’m very shocked about the whole event and it has been an extremely upsetting experience. As I spent a lot of money to come to the hotel and have a family holiday for two weeks I was left feeling very heartbroken on a daily basis and could not wait to return to my home country. In terms of the poor electricity in the room, we were granted a new room and was given a choice of spa access and cabana bed. However, the spa sauna and steam room where both broken. Every time I asked to speak to a manager I was never able to, and this meant that the whole holiday was completely ruined as nothing was fully resolved . The whole stress of the holiday having to pack and then unpack suitcases again to be told that the room had been fixed then electricity goes again an hour after even though maintenance, supervisor and manager, categorically stated that the room had been fixed. This whole experience left my anxiety through the roof which had led me to have several panic attacks, and in general feel as though the holiday was completely ruined, and I’m still having the effects of this whole anxiety ridden experience as I have landed back in My Home country. Not to mention the disruption to our children one with additional needs constant changed and overall unsettled stay completely ruined experience. Overall extremely upsetting and so overwhelming disappointed this hotel is rated 5* so unbelievable.

Royalton Negril Jamacia

Royalton Negril Jamacia
Avoid this hotel claims to be 5atar found service quite disappointing all they were concerned about was the tip you’d leave.
We struggled to book into restaurants often they’d say they were booked but lots of empty tables. Had issues with drainage smells every day in our room. On arriving at hotel we had to leave a $200 deposit which would be returned on our leave 3 weeks after leaving & having to complain to hotel it’s been refunded this happened to many people in our group, wonder how many people have been scammed this way 🤷‍♀️

I couldn’t be more disappointed with…

I couldn’t be more disappointed with your hotel in Dominican Republic. Terrible hotel they take the extra money for the hideaway and diamond club with no intention of fulfilling the service.

I’ve been to multiple resorts St Lucia Jamaica etc and this hotel far so far short of the standard set at those hotels.

You need a complete change of management.

So currently stood in the Hide Away…

So currently stood in the Hide Away lobby asking to speak to management about the terrible service so far ( day 2).

Me and my wife tried to go for dinner at the steak restaurant at 7.15 to be told no more bookings for the evening will be taken and we need to book…This is after being told on check in we didn’t need to book the restaurants other than the Jade.

Really poor service so far.

Room - really old and zero view from balcony dispite paying for the upgrade to the “ Luxury hideaway”… basically we have tree and concrete as a view… I was not expecting anything amazing as we didn’t book pool view…. But the room being old and crap looking and the balcony being not fit for purpose… really crap

Avoid

Nice place, friendly staff & variety of restaurants

I had an amazing time staying at the Royalton Riviera Cancun. The check in process was smooth and all was clearly explained by the guy who attended to my wife and I. We went there for a friend’s birthday party and had a great time, the room was clean though the tv wasn’t working well. To be fair we only switched it on to order for room service as other times, we were busy with activities in the resort. There were a variety of restaurants on property which made it easy to vary food choices during our stay. The staff were very nice and always smiling and greeting people. The atmosphere was peaceful.
One thing which got me a bit concerned was the initial warning on the check in sheet for us to use the safe for all valuables otherwise the property won’t be liable for any losses. This made me feel uneasy throughout my stay to be honest but thankfully, nothing went missing.
It was a nice place to spend our holiday but I’ll advice all visitors to book their tours, taxis and any other activities ahead of time if not, the prices on the day or at the centres are ridiculously expensive. This has nothing to do with the resort though.
All in all, I had a great time and would love to go back with my kids.

We stayed at Royalton Negril in Jamaica…

We stayed at Royalton Negril in Jamaica in April 2023. TUI sell this as a 5 star resort, trust me it is no where near a 5 star resort it was incredibly disappointing. The level of service was very hit or miss, there were some very capable, professional and helpful staff but these were in the minority. The majority of staff seemed untrained, inexperienced and didn’t give a monkeys. Some Staff also had a habit of practically demanding tips. The drinks at the bars were generally rubbish, cocktails were quite often Slush puppies with a shot of the worst rum in existence, most of the bar staff were winging it. Entertainment was pretty dire although there was a few good evenings. The first come first served restaurants were a joke.. you could be 1st in the Q at 6pm and be told the whole Resteraunt has been booked out for the evening by those upgraded to Diamond club. Nice one Royalton make customers who have been charged a fortune for a 5 star resort feel like a second class citizen.
The main pool was a joke by 6am there were towels on most of the Sun beds and families staking claim to multiple areas hedging their bets.

Good points;
The beach location however was stunning.
Our room was fantastic and we were lucky enough to have a fantastic beach and sea view from our balcony.
The buffet Resteraunt was their get out of jail card, food was generally fantastic, staff were hit or miss tho’
And it would be nice if they had actually got the Resteraunt ready for customers when it opens 🤷‍♂️
Generally the resort is tired and tatty, you are encouraged not to leave the resort other than organised trips etc and any extras bought inside the resort is extortionate.
For would not return.

Luxury Resort, what a joke!

We stayed at the Royalton Riviera Cancun in March 2023 for 14 nights. This is a tired sprawling resort with bad service and a la carte restaurants serving poor food. We upgraded to Diamond Club with ocean view at booking and apart from butler service there was nothing else to justify the additional cost. You couldn’t actually see the ocean unless you went on to the balcony and looked hard right and the rooms are in need of a full renovation. The Diamond Club lounge was a long way from the Diamond block and not worth going to. We complained on numerous occasions at the restaurants because the service was bad and in some cases the food was worse than poor, it was terrible! Being Brits we did not realise that March was spring break in the US so the resort was full of young people intent on getting smashed. The majority were underage but that didn’t seem to stop them getting served. This is not a luxury resort, avoid at all costs!

5 Stars for Emma!

We had a wonderful time at Royalton Riviera in Cancun! The service was amazing! In fact, we had such amazing help from Emma at Royalton Riviera Cancun in particular! We found out less than 24 hours before our flight that there was an issue with the tickets, and we could only use wifi on our phones, because our phone service of from the US. We had to call our travel agent in New York, Delta Airlines and Kenya Airways to figure out what was wrong, and Emma was helping us to try to resolve the situation for at least THREE HOURS! I can't tell you how many numbers she looked up and dialed for us, how patient and kind she was, and all of the effort she put in to help us. Emma is the definition of 5 star service! Thank you so much Royalton Riviera, and thank you so much Emma!

Came to Royalton Hideaway resort in…

Came to Royalton Hideaway resort in Cancun for a friend wedding. Its like a nightmare from the time we arrive. Bad service, bad attitude, its like we owe them. We got rubbed. One of the staff member broke in to our room and took my expensive jewelry, sunglasses, money, watches and a few more other items. And they will not do anything about it. I cant get a report of what happened, they will not check the cameras, lies right and left, The worst experience I have ever had in cancun, All wedding guests have problems with the service they are getting. The rooms are old and smell, there are bugs everywhere. The hallways and the lobby area, bars and the restaurants are dirty. The waiters ask for tip before they bring you drinks. The management and the security service is not doing their job at all.

Actually scammed

Bad food, bad service, got scammed! We went to Royalton Chic cancun and it was bad! We actually got scammed by nexus tours in the hotel and the hotel itself. If you want any kind of service it will run you a $20 tip every time. That's 20 to the front bar, back bar, pool bar, buttler, beach guy, and so on. 100's per day to get basic service from a 5 star hotel. What a joke! Don't do it!

Worst Holiday Ever

I experienced the worst 5 day holiday for Christmas 2022 at your Royalton Cancun Riviera resort. At check in I was provided with an option to upgrade to a swim out which I chose. We got to the room and it was not cleaned. There was no soap to wash our hands after using the bathroom, the tub had hair in it and the toilet paper had half a roll. The counter sinks were dirty. I went back to the front in which they said they would send someone over to clean. They came and replenished the soap and toilet paper. During day 2 of our stay we could not get any housekeeper to bring towels after several calls and 3 hrs of waiting still no one came. I ended up using the towels I traveled with and grabbing towels off the cart in the hall the next day. Housekeeping finally came in on day 4 and all they did was make the bed with the same linens. (Gross). I ended up grabbing fresh linens and changing the sheets myself. Which was a sight for sore eyes when I saw the actual mattress.

Upon attempting to make a cup of tea there was an old sticky coffee ring in the cup. Someone entered our room while my spouse slept and claimed he was there to drop off water. However we hadn't called for water and he didn't have any in hand when he entered our room which was very suspicious. (BE CAUTIOUS) who knows what could have occurred had he not been in the room at the time or if my daughter or i had been in there alone. The day of departing and prior to check out we all went to breakfast. My kids returned to the room to find their winter coats and my daughter's purse were missing. After raising hell in the lobby we were told they were in lost & found and would be returned to us. When we asked how did they get from our room to the lost & found when we hadn't checked out yet we were provided with no response. My daughter's perfume was missing from her purse upon return. Had the room been cleaned perhaps I would've given credit to the fact there could've been as assumption we left them but considering that was not the case. I can only guess this was an attempted theft that didn't work out in their favor.

I was very disappointed and distraught from my experience. Not at all how I would envision spending the holidays with my family. Utterly Shocked, especially since Ive stayed at the Royalton in St. Lucia and it was amazing. This particular property was disgusting. This should be updated to a 1 star property. Sadly the sentiment was similar from some of the other guests staying during my conversations.

Ruined my 60th Birthday celebration TUI and Royalton Negril

It’s with much sadness and disappointment that I feel compelled to write this review. It is extremely heartbreaking when so much planning and effort is put into an holiday and basic needs are not met especially in a five star hotel.

We booked a holiday in February 2022 for a group of eight people to celebrate two special birthdays (both my husband and his best friend were turning 60). Unfortunately , or shall I say fortunately for them, four group members were unable to attend due to personal circumstances. They only found out a day before that they had to cancel. The hotel was not informed of this. We specifically requested that all rooms booked were next to each other.

Upon arrival we were given rooms on two different floors.
Three days later our friends were moved next to our room. However they did not unpack and were living out of a suitcase )
The next week there was issue after issue :

* There was no coffee machine, steamer and bath robes in the room.
* When the coffee machine arrived, it was leaking water and the steamer was leaking water.
We have a video to prove this.
* There has been No Hot Water for the last 4 days to shower in the room.
* The tiles in one of the balcony’s was cracked and we had to put a mat on it so we didn’t get hurt.
* The rooms hadn't been cleaned or bedding changed for 2 days until we complained at the front desk.
* Escalators to the reception area were not working. This was huge for me since I have Parkinsons disease and am registered disabled and walking up the escalator was extremely uncomfortable, difficult and painful! Also our friend has a herniated disc in his lower back and climbing up and down the escalator has now aggravated his back thus causing him excruciating pain.
* I am gluten intolerant and a gluten free diet was requested when the holiday was booked with Tui. I did not receive any gluten free bread until the eighth day of our holiday of which I had to literally beg for. It was however stodgy and uncooked. We have travelled the world and it is quite normal for hotels to provide a gluten free diet. Forget about the bread, there were no other varieties i.e. gluten free biscuits, rolls, cakes, cookies, croissants etc!
* The toilet was not flushing at night (this is not hygienic) and bathing or washing a basic health and hygiene necessity has not been possible as the there is no hot or cold water for the last 4 days and as I write this, the issue has not been resolved.
* Last but not least, most importantly we were celebrating my husband’s 60th birthday on the 19th November and once again TUI and the hotel were notified well in advance many times. On his special day the hotel made no effort in decorating the room and or making his day a special one. We complained to the TUI rep and all they did was send him 2 TUI balloons which she brought into the room and blew up and a TUI postcard. No apology or efforts were made to rectify the situation. Our friends also complained to the Hotel and all they said was we will make it special birthday and we are still waiting. This has been one of the worst experiences celebrating any special birthday and to be honest I am so glad that the other birthday boy was unable to come. It was only our friends that made it special.
The above is so despicable and nothing can compensate for the moment has gone and you cannot turn back time! I would never recommend Royalton Negril Hotel despite the friendly staff, people and beautiful country.
We have lost so much time in trying to get basic needs issues sorted out that we have literally lost days in enjoying our hard earned holiday. No one takes into account the time and money spent on planning an expensive holiday especially for a very special occasion. I would like the Hotel and TUI to take responsibility and compensate us fully.

I would like to add that some of the staff were very helpful and friendly.
