Absolutely awful. Hired one from our local Tesco store. Everything was ok until we woke up the next day. All our carpets smell lovely like stale pee. Never in all of my life have I smelt anything like it. Cannot get rid of the smell at all. What an absolute joke. £50 for the hire and solution.

Rental machine system doesn't seem very well controlled. Hired online, went to pick the machine up and there was no machine to take from locker. The 24h hire went out of the window. No customer service available at the time.

Trash trash trash. DO NOT RENT! I was moving and wanting to clean all of my area rugs plus the house I was moving out of and the unit made two area rugs smell like cat pee! Idk why you couldn’t smell it until afterwards but I do not own cats, I’m allergic to cats and I told them . They said they came by looked at the area rugs I had outside(because I refused to take them inside I threw them away actually 200$ and 300$) and said they saw nothing wrong with it….. anyway trash do not use them they didn’t even ask me which machine so I’m sure someone else got the cat pee smelling machine. They don’t inspect them when you bring them back. It’s overall a solid no for me

I purchased a $500 rug doctor in July 2023 and it is now leaking. I was told I was responsible for shipping to rug doctor for the repair. These are not lightweight and I can’t believe I need to pay to send it in for repair while still under warranty. Are you kidding me? This is my 2nd rug doctor machine purchase. I’ve learned that just because of the price doesn’t mean it’s quality. Last time I’ll buy one.

I thought that it worked well, until 2 days later when all of the spots it had supposedly cleaned came back up the same as before. It appears to just mask the dirt for a short time and not do a real, thorough cleaning. The water was quite dirty though, so it did take care of dusty dirt. But not staining or spots. For the price, definitely not worth it. You're better off purchasing your own cleaning machine and supplies in the long term or getting new carpet in our case.

Doctor Machine Rental

I recently had an absolutely horrible experience with Rug Doctor's machine rental service. The machine I rented came with an unnoticed, repugnant smell. As I started cleaning my carpet, I didn’t realized that the machine have some left disgusting water inside.

To my horror, the disgusting water was very smelly and the smell persisted even after the cleaning process, leaving my carpet reeking and unbearable. I send my carpet to dry cleaning and the disgusting smell didn’t go away. It was so stinky and so intense that I had no choice but to dispose of my carpet altogether. This experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I am extremely disappointed with the quality of Rug Doctor's equipment.

I strongly advise others to think twice before considering Rug Doctor for their cleaning needs, as the consequences of using their machine have been nothing short of catastrophic for me.

The Rug Doctor gets out surface dirt and stains in the short term, but it's bulky and cumbersome to use with mediocre lasting results. Cleaning my wall-to-wall carpets took serious muscle to maneuver the machine everywhere, even after reading the instructions. And while the rug looked cleaner at first, the musty smell returned within days.

Renting and hauling from the store was also a hassle. So for a quick fix in between professional deep cleanings, I’d maybe use Rug Doctor again. But for a truly clean and lasting result, I still prefer to call the experts.

While these carpet cleaners are amazing(large and small. I have them both), their warranty process isn't. I have the "Pet portable spot cleaner". It no longer sprays from the handle, it only drips water. I am well within my warranty, but they expect me to pay the shipping to and from their repair center. I think that is wrong. If outside the warranty, I would expect to pay for shipping and repair, but not while under warranty. There are repair centers, but none in my area that work on this particular machine, unfortunately. I will remember this when I purchase another machine. It's a shame that this one will go into a landfill instead of being repaired.

Shocking service - we booked a Rug Doctor to help clean my elderly mother's house while she was away and from the moment we picked up the machine we had nothing but problems. The machine was jammed into the little space in the collection locker and we had a nightmare getting it out, when we got it home we realised the problem was that whoever had it before had left the machine so the connector was only on the head held device, so couldn't be used to clean the carpets unless you were on your hands and knees as it was jammed. The worst thing was that when we called Rug Doctor the office was closed and there was nobody to help, leaving us with a machine that was unusable and with no way of contacting the team to a) complain about the problem b) that some other poor person will collect the machine with the same issue as there is no one looking after the machines.

The automated Rug Doctor rental kiosk was easier to navigate than I expected. The experience exceeded my expectations.

The rug doctor always cleans my carpets very good getting up all dirt and leaving it looking very clean. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a deep cleaning of their carpet.

Easy access and the equipment does the work

Very easy and convenient to check one out and return but I believe you should put something on the rental cage for cash as well so if you don't have enough on your debit or credit card you don't have to go to your bank to deposit more just to rent a machine

The light carpet stains the machine removed. I had a spot from a pet that the machine did NOT remove no matter what cleaner I used or did.

Everything about checking out the rug cleaner was easy and quick. Cleaner did a great job. Machine is a little heavy.
