very solid panels - you can tell these are tough ones. however, I've been able to put together kits for fractions of the cost and higher NIJ ratings. pretty stiff, so it's not like carrying this is any easier on a daily basis than regular $100-200 sets, and the little bit of added side protection is small. picture doesn't do it justice, but you're talking about covering up like 2-4 ribs, max. solid, good quality soft plate that has awesome marketing and seems to be relied on by law officials and military, but for civilians, this isn't a go-to every day thing. maybe in SHTF or EOW scenarios? meh - overall underwhelming experience
