I have had a complete nightmare with these **** !
They advertise as if they will protect you from criminals but they are the criminals. Here is the scam :
I signed up with a very nice and persuasive salesman for a 2 year contract as I was going out of the country and wanted my house and GF looked after . I explained clearly that I was only going for 2 years and we agreed the terms . (I am not even complaining about the fact that the system has multiple false alarms and issues while I was gone and that the FINE PRINT says if THEIR system has too many issues they can CHARGE you EXTRA for every call out until eventually it is cheaper to just pay and not use the cameras . ) Ignoring that , the real scam is that when I got back and tried to cancel , the Head office in Jacksonville told me that I had actually signed a 5 YEAR contract and to cancel I needed to pay $5000 !!
It felt like I was talking to the MAFIA . They have you over a barrel because even if you contact a lawyer (which i did , the cost to fight them is about the same as the cost to pay them ) .
I have never in my life agreed to even a 2 year phone contract so I know there is NO way I agreed to this but they said they have my signature on the contract so too bad . When I asked to talk to the salesman they said he was DEAD ! . The office Manager I spoke too was ghetto and had no care for a customer that was being taking advantage of . I tried to negotiate middle ground payoff of 3 years just to get out of this nightmare and they didn't care at all . (in fact they insultingly offered a 3 month hold in pay which would be tacked on at the end of the 5 years, a total joke !)
No other negotiation , they did not need to try to screw me like this because it is a SERVICE , so no cost to them !(note I had already paid $800 up front for the equipment and install) they could easily have adjusted the contract to the correct terms , instead they treated me like a piece of **** and insisted I owed them until 2029 or else they would screw my credit or sue me .
I have seen multiple customer complaints that they tack on an automatic 2 years at the end of a 3 year contract but this was much worse , they actually lied and told me I had a 5 year contract .
I cant say this strongly enough : "**** these horrible unethical ****. "
