This guy is scammer. Ordered corals, took payment and then nothing, emails unanswered, then I discover that he has no stock, has been evicted from his unit and does not have a licence to trade as a pet store. The shop has now been taken down and I have reported to trading standards for fraud.

I still have 7 outstanding orders with this company that I'm waiting for a refund for. these go back to July 2022 yes 2022 over 600 days ago as of the date of this review. I emailed asking for a refund and he tried to downplay how much stock he owd me then when I gave him a price breakdown he said I was threatening him and that he "doesn't respond well to threats" If you have spare money give it to a charity, not salty revolutions.

AVOID AVOID AVOID Another customer…

AVOID AVOID AVOID Another customer ripped off!

Asked James if his WYSIWYG were actually in stock and got a reply - well how can I take pictures of them if they are not!

So placed an order for 6 WYSIWYG frags in December, delivery arrived on the 25th of January missing 2 of the WYSIWYG corals, James said he would refund my money which could take 10 and then he said 30 days.

Well 7 weeks and 4 e-mails later, still no refund and being ignored and this is a common theme across his reviews!

Don't throw away your money, there are plenty of other options.

Customer service is the worst ever!

Vile excuse for a human being.

This guy is a scam artist, he really must have a mental illness to reply to reviews on here blaming customers, yet 100s of customer have all shared their negative experiences… but he still claims it’s down to bad attitude from the customer etc.

You won’t get your order, you’ll wait for weeks/months on end but as soon as you question where your money or product is, he gives attitude.

There’s plenty of screenshots online with his attitude towards customers, vile abuse and the threats. Avoid like the plague.

Can wholeheartedly recommend NOT parting with any money to this con artist, he will take your money and you will never see the supposedly purchased goods (probably because the tanks at his squat are empty). Despite talk of a 'guppy revolution', one can only hope no sane viviparous keeper would give him any fish as he hasn't valid petshop license (a legal requirement for selling live animals).

I ordered From James in the past and…

I ordered From James in the past and had been satisfied with what i ordered .... But on January 30th 2023 i as a present from the wife ordered myself a Gem Tang and some damsels amounting to £316 then started the wait .... Twice i took days off from work as he was hand delivering to me in West Wales a long way to go for him so the least i could do was take time off to meet him ....Twice he cancelled. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and like a fool i listened to all the ( To many excuses to Mention ) I didn't email or contact him until the end of November asking a few questions to which he cancelled my order and refunded me .... According to his Email !!!! I awaited the refund ..... Eventually i had the cheek to email him saying my refund had not made it to my bank, He replied to contact me bank which i did, They replied with there there is nothing i can do as the 120 days had passed, So i had the audacity to ask James Goodchild to prove he had refunded me to which he responded saying i was calling him a liar !!! And he then banned me ( Which breaks my Heart i really wanted to give him more money to get nothing back ) Thats my Review like others i would give 0 stars if possible
Ps i also messaged him on Facebook and received a short simple answer from him he replied FU

It’s all lies

Behind all of the guff, the silly pictures and the lies is man who is out to steal money from you. Do not fall for the low prices, discount codes or any of the other promotions, you will be paying much more in time, stress and frustration. You will end up waiting for a very long time, not get what you ordered, not get a reply to your emails and not get your money back. I placed an order worth £269, did not receive after dates being promised, requested a refund, gracefully tried to communicate with him over 4 months, got ignored and slapped him with a CCJ. Check the reviews across the internet and make the right choice by not choosing to engage with this ‘business’.

AVOID!

AVOID!

As an avid marine enthusiast and conscientious consumer, I feel compelled to share my harrowing experience with "Salty Revolution". Regrettably, what began as an exciting endeavour to procure vibrant marine life swiftly transformed into a cautionary tale of deception and disappointment.

My initial impression of "Salty Revolution" was positive, with an enticing array of exotic marine species showcased on their website. However, the reality proved to be far less auspicious.

Upon placing my order, I eagerly awaited the arrival of my prized marine specimens, only to be met with silence, weeks passed without any correspondence or acknowledgement of my purchase, leaving me in a state of apprehension and frustration.

It soon became apparent that I had fallen victim to a deceitful scheme orchestrated by "Salty Revolutions". Numerous attempts to contact, yielding no response, further exacerbating my dismay.

As weeks turned into months, I reluctantly came to terms with the grim reality: I had been scammed, not only had I been deprived of marine life I had eagerly anticipated, but I had also been subjected to financial loss and emotional distress.

The ramifications of "Salty Revolution"'s unscrupulous practices extend far beyond individual grievances. He's deceptive
conduct undermines the integrity of online commerce and erodes consumer trust, perpetuating a cycle of deceit and disillusionment.

In light of my experience, I implore fellow marine enthusiasts to exercise utmost caution when considering transactions with "Salty Revolution". Their flagrant disregard for ethical business practices and customer well-being serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risk associated with online purchasing.

In summation, my encounter with "Salty Revolution" serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of due diligence and vigilance in navigating the digital marketplace. Let this review stand as a warning to others: tread carefully, lest you too fall prey to the snares of deceit woven by unscrupulous entities like "Salty Revolution".

I felt compelled to escalate the matter to appropriate authorities, including reporting "Salty Revolution" to Trading Standards.

No orders have ever been placed by anyone with your surname.

I note you say that you use multiple surnames, that's not generally something we tend to be very keen on, because it's often associated with a "high fraud risk". I checked your first name too, and we have no record of that either.

Hi, I've submitted the more information request where you can let us know your order number etc.

Very poor customer service. Once you place the order, he chases you to pay via bank transfer within 60mins, once you pay you never hear from him again. Ordered in December for delivery in January. DO NOT ORDER ITS A SCAM

After reading the previous review I feel I should now leave my review too. I ordered just after Xmas with the free £20 voucher and then I made a small order as I was unsure whether this place could be trusted due to other reviews I had seen, that said I thought I would chance it, BIG MISTAKE!

I was told it would be Jan delivery and I think I emailed twice to see if I could get an ETA and with no response the 2nd time I emailed a 3rd time and then got the attitude! Was told he would cancel my order if I couldn't wait, by the time I wrote my response saying I was happy to wait he had already cancelled my orders and then started abusing me over mails!

I don't know of anyone to get anything from this lying scumbag and he certainly doesn't give refunds!

This guy is a PoS and should be arrested, what makes it worse is he is an admin on one of the biggest Marine Facebook groups in the country and still posts his scams which is a joke.

What every you do make sure you never order here!

Just to add I am one of the Hull area orders who didn't get a refund or any shrimp!!

We have had some delays on postal deliveries going out in January due to more cold weather than usual for the time of year. Although around 120 polyboxes of orders were posted out in January.

Around 50% of all items ordered are hand delivered. Hand deliveries are affected less by bad weather.

I dispute your claim that numerous people local to you also had messaged you and not had deliveries or refunds, as we have only 7 other people that have ordered in the Hull area in the last 2 months, and 5 of those have already received all of their items, and 2 of them have ordered again within the last 14 days.

The person you mention that posted on Facebook is a known troublemaker that I had previously reported to the police for threatening behaviour and offences under the Malicious Communications Act. They also have a history of harassing other businesses too. At no point has the gentleman concerned ever been inside the building and 95% of our tanks are not visible from outside, and the only ones that are visible from outside are more than 18 feet from the doorway and contain coral frags and conchs, which he would not have been able to see from 18 feet away, at 6am in the morning with all the lights off in the shop.

We are not in breach of any licencing regulations, as he claimed.

The Landlady was last paid in 2023, and we are not in arrears with the rent. We are not being evicted.

I do indeed live on the premises and have my own area, including 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, ensuite bathroom, home office, downstairs loo, upstairs storage area etc. This is in compliance with planning permission law, and fire regulations etc, and allows me to be on site mostly 24/7 to care for the animals etc.

I can confirm that this business is my sole source of income, and I pay myself wages from the business. I think this applies to most sole trader businesses that "live off people's payments" as you put it.

As for your last point, your orders were cancelled and you were banned from ordering again for breaching our T&C. If anyone reading this also intends to order and then act inappropriately and breach our T&C in the same way that you did, then I agree that I would also prefer them not to order. However, I am happy to accept orders from those that can conduct themselves in a civil manner, and that aren't intending to breach our T&C or, mean that I have to involve the police due to their actions. In general this is not a problem for 98%+ plus of the population. Unfortunately both those mentioned above are very much in the 2% that are not.

If anyone has any questions about the points above, or, requires any further details about the reviewer, or the other person mentioned above, they can email me for more details).

CHECK OUT THE FACEBOOK GROUP ……

CHECK OUT THE FACEBOOK GROUP ……. Salty Revolution - SCAM

UPDATE – following this review, I received the below messages at 00:13 and 00:15

Owner – “ok so obviously while you appreciated me looking into it for you on Thursday, since then you’ve changed your mind and no longer appreciate me doing so. So I will stop doing so”

Owner – “I shall now regard this matter as concluded”

This was swiftly followed by an email for each order, telling me they had been completed via shipping method “Banned”. So, that’s it folks …… Scam complete and concluded.

I placed an initial order in March 23. I was later informed that the items would be hand delivered to me on 10th April by the owner, so booked the day off work to take delivery. I then received an email from him at 9.45pm on the day of delivery, advising that he was planning on picking them up from a supplier on route, but they were out of stock, so I wouldn’t be getting my delivery that day. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and asked if he could email me with an update the following week. Two weeks pass with no update so I dropped the owner an email, he’d been ill and had a “record week of sales” so was flat out but would be in touch soon. Roll on May and I receive an offer that if I can wait until July, he’ll give me a discount code. That seemed like a good offer so took him up on it and added a second order to my original one and waited patiently until July.

If you’re on his mailing list, you will notice that he really, really doesn’t like being asked for updates – even if you have been waiting months – so I left it with him and gave him space to get things in order. July, August, September, and October came and went with no update so 17th November, I decided to cut my losses, asked to cancel, and be issued with a refund. “Ok mate no problem” was the response.

I waited just over a month from that point, with no refund or any word from the owner so requested an update on 20th December, via email. No reply so I sent a further email on 30th December. Again, no reply. I was obviously growing concerned by this point, so sent a further email on 10th January 2024 and you guessed it …… no reply. I assumed he may have a problem with his inbox or my emails were getting lost, so I sent a text message on the morning of 11th January requesting an update. No response by the afternoon so copied and pasted the same message via Whatsapp and FINALLY, a response!

Owner - “Hi mate sorry for the slow replies you are on my list of people awaiting a reply. I’ll have a look into it later tonight mate. Sorry for the delays”.

Brilliant, I thought, he will investigate the hold up this evening and I’ll hear back tonight/tomorrow morning that it’s all taken care of or at least what the plan is moving forward. No update on 12th so I sent a follow up message on 13th, as follows:

Me – “Hi mate, hope you’re good. Did you manage to look into this? Cheers”

As there was no reply, I copied and pasted the same message on 15th. Again no reply, so I did the same on 16th. Still no reply so I messaged again on 17th to which the owner finally responded. The message exchange went as follows:

Me – “Hi, I hope you’re well. What do I need to do to get my refund? I appreciate you are busy but I have tried to be as patient and understanding as possible about the situation but it isn’t getting me anywhere. I really, really need the money back now”

Owner – “Yep I’m awaiting information from the card company. I am sorting this out for you but it’s not an instant thing and with csrd (sp) refund issues they can take up to 60 days”

Me – “Hi, you authorised the refund 61 days ago ….”

Owner – “I’m looking into it. You can wait while I do it, or, if youre (sp) not happy to wait while I look into it then I’ll stop looking into it. But, spamming me with messages is not the way to get me to help and is the way to get blocked.”

(Swiftly followed up with)

Owner – “If you chase me again I’ll block you”

I called my card company and there has been no contact from Salty revolution and no attempt to make the refund. I then started looking online (lesson learned – always look BEFORE dealing with a company) and I was astounded by the number of people who have also fallen victim to Salty Revolution and the pattern that seems to keep repeating itself over and over again.

So, in summary – if you’re polite, patient, give him space (months, in my case – for a delivery that never arrived and then again for a refund that never arrived), chances are you’ll get scammed. If you start to grow concerned and dare to try and communicate (politely) with the owner regarding undelivered purchases and/or the money he legally owes you, you’ll not only be scammed but blocked too!

The offers on the website are too good to be true.
James(the owner) will sell coral that isn't currently in stock even knowing it stats that they are. You will end up having to chase James for your order and you will end up waiting for months at a time unless you request a refund which you may get back if your lucky.
Don't really know how he has been getting away with this for so long.

You ordered on 1st January on an item that clearly stated delivery would be in January. You then cancelled it 14 days later on the 15th January, claiming you had been waiting for "months" when it was actually 14 days, on a item which it clearly stated on the website, and on your order, could be up to 30 days for delivery.

Your inability to count or read, does not make me dishonest.

Refund apparently issued SCAM

Refund apparently issued, what a total lie, I’ve checked with payment clearing at the bank, either he has major issue with his banking provider or he’s just out to scam people, I can really see why people are so frustrated and angry with him ,

It also seems odd that from the original purchase he dragged your heels on the posting to give a delivery date that, just happened to be 121 days past the purchase, he will likely be fully aware that the good and services not received process can only be completed with in the 120 day window of original purchase. Guessing that’s why he keeps people waiting.

I feel really let down by salty revolution , I waited patiently and even believed all the stories about issues he had faced(suppliers, health and weather issues) perhaps this was naive on my part, perhaps I should have checked you held a local authority license to sell, which you clearly don’t hold, maybe why this is the real reason you are no longer able to supply fish to the public.

either way, it seems we can’t resolve this like adults, as you don’t seem to care, and would much rather spend time making up stories.

I no longer trust you as a business seller or person,

Please remove me from your mailing list, I hope we never cross paths again,

Update, the owner has sent me a lovely email, pointing out that I’m wrong, 🤨 the above was referred to the bank for a charge back process, this process has 120day time frame for completion. So should you choose to order I’d recommend you not wait longer than this, should your items not arrive.
