Wedding PTSD

It’s hard for me to even write a detailed review for Bobbie because my wedding experience was so traumatizing thanks to her. I want to keep any remaining memories I have of the day positive - but truly other people should not hire her.

took our money and ghosted us

Basically stole our money. She was attentive and responsive when courting us, then as soon as we made a down payment, she disappeared. Canceling or missing calls, not replying to our emails, replying that she had emergencies going on (at first we believed her but by the 3rd or 4th emergency, we realized she was never going to actually do the work she had promised). I am not sure this is a real business based on our experience. I would stay away.

Strongly advise couples against Sand + Lace

We started working with Sand + Lace Events in June 2025 for our June 2026 wedding in Athens.
We were quite drawn to the planner's (also owner) friendly personality and sharp eye for design. Her website and Instagram looked fresh, modern and professional. We decided to allocate a considerable portion of our budget to work with her, paying over 3x what other planners were charging, for what we thought would be a premium service.

Unfortunately, all the polish turned out to be a facade.
From the get go, communication with the planner was spotty, often taking several days to get a simple response. We gave her the benefit of the doubt as we were in the swing of wedding season, but things only deteriorated as the months went on.

The planner had created an Asana board for us to keep track of tasks. This board was rarely updated and proved to be of little use. As we got to August, the only task she had completed was sourcing a list of venues for us. Even details about the venues would take weeks to be added, if added at all. I found myself spending endless hours doing most of the heavy lifting to get information on the venues we liked.
When my fiance and I needed a third person's opinion on something we couldn't agree on, she was nowhere to be found, even after several emails, WhatsApp messages and calls. This led to a spiral of anxiety and frustration.

Finally, in September 2025, after several conversations with the planner failing to change anything about our working relationship, we decided to terminate our contract with her. We asked if she could instead only provide the visual concept for the wedding, as this is what we believed was her strong-suit.
She agreed to use the deposit we had already paid towards this project.
The timeline as she laid out was to be as follows: 1) initial workshop call to understand our vision for the wedding, 2) a second call where should present the initial concept, and 3) a final call where should present the final outcome.

We proceeded to have the first workshop call in October 2025, scheduling the next slot at the end of the call, as we feared that attempts to schedule the next slot through email or WhatsApp would take weeks.

A few minutes before our second scheduled call, the planner canceled due to illness. She would be in touch when she felt better. It would take over a month and several attempts to contact her, including through her assistant, to get a response from her.

When she did respond, she suggested a slot for end of December (2 months after the initial workshop call). I requested an earlier slot as we had already started discussing decor with the venue at this point. She said she would look into it, and proceeded to ghost us.

We never got our visual concept delivered, and our requests for a refund, settlement, etc. all went largely unanswered. The planner proceeded to block me on Instagram despite my not contacting her through the platform or leaving any comments on her posts.

Unfortunately, our experience with this planner has been a huge source of stress, anxiety and frustration during a time meant to be joyful and anticipatory. The large deposit we paid was money down the drain.

We strongly advise couples looking for wedding planners in Greece or Europe to avoid hiring this agency at all costs.
