Disappointing experience with how the pricing was presented

We recently purchased a Loretta sofa configuration from Seats & Sofas for €2,600. We have decided to keep the order, so this review is not about the quality of the sofa itself. Our concern is specifically about the way the price was presented and negotiated in the showroom.

We chose a 2-seater and a 3-seater, with the 3-seater having the full electric relax function, including the electric footrest and headrest, as well as the upholstery/material we selected.

After making our selections, the salesperson initially told us that the price would be over €4,000 if the sofa needed to be custom ordered, or approximately €3,300 if it was available from stock. We explained that this was far beyond what we wanted to spend.

The salesperson then asked us what our maximum budget was. We said €2,600. She went to speak to her manager and came back with a price of exactly €2,600.

At the time, we accepted this because we believed we were being offered a significant deal by the manager. However, after leaving the store and researching the sofa and its pricing ourselves, we became uncomfortable with the way the price had been presented.

Our concern is not that we agreed to €2,600. We understand that we agreed to the purchase. Our concern is that we were first presented with figures of €4,000+ and approximately €3,300, and then, after telling the salesperson our maximum budget, the price suddenly became exactly €2,600. We were never given a clear breakdown showing how the original prices were calculated, how much the different configurations/functions/materials cost, or what discount was actually being given.

When we subsequently asked about cancelling the order, we were told that cancellation would involve a substantial percentage of the purchase price. After speaking to the store again, we were given more information suggesting that, considering the two sofas, the electric relax functions and the material we selected, €2,600 may in fact be a reasonable price.

For that reason, we have decided to keep the order.

However, we still feel that the pricing should have been communicated much more transparently from the beginning. If €2,600 was genuinely a good price for our particular configuration, we would have preferred to be shown a clear calculation rather than being given a very high initial price, followed by another price, and then arriving at exactly the maximum budget we had disclosed.

Our advice to anyone shopping at Seats & Sofas would be to ask for a full written breakdown of the price, including the base price, configuration, electric functions, materials and any discounts, before agreeing to the purchase seeing as they did not provide this to us.

We hope the sofa itself is good quality and meets our expectations, and we will be happy to update this review once we have received it.

Had a good experience with the purchase

So far, I am happy with my experience at Seats and Sofas given their selection of sofas in the style that I was looking for.
The staff are very helpful with the process as well.

I still cannot vouch for any aftersales service as I have to wait 24 weeks to get the sofa (which feels a bit excessive).

On the negative side:
I think a 50% deposit is way too high
I was disappointed by the amount of haggling I had to go through in order to get a decent price. The lack of clarity in their whole sales process put us in a position where being quoted 1000 euro more for a cheaper sofa than for the one we had asked for in the beginning.

The WORST company I have ever encounter! ZERO professionalism, I bought sofa more then 6 months ago and I still dont have it fixed. NOBODY is willing to help me!! Every time BS answers, redirecting me somewhere else. NEVER buy anything from them !!!!!!!

I had the best experience with them really all of them wanted to help us, but with us came Aswieta she help us a lot and explained everything about the sofas at we choose! Thank you very much Aswieta!☺️🫶🏻

We had a very disappointing experience with the Seats and Sofas Almere store. We initially visited just to look around but were strongly pushed to place an order the same day. A clear price was quoted for one model, but when we returned shortly after to change to that same model (within 2 days), the price was suddenly increased significantly,(As we had made the advance payment, he took advantage of us nicely) and there was no willingness to discuss or honour the earlier quote.

The communication felt rude and inflexible, and we were even told to cancel and leave while paying a high cancellation fee. This left us feeling that promises were not kept and customer friendliness was lacking. Unfortunately, this experience damaged our trust in the seats and sofas and specifically Almere branch, we are gonna cascade this experience with all of our friends and family.

We did not cancel the order due to high cancellation fee and agreed for the price which we were tricked to pay, and during the sofa delivery day, the customer service was even more pathetic. Even though there were many staff members present, no one showed interest in helping or assisting us. Overall, it was a very bad customer service experience. The staff and especially the guy who claims as manager there, he doesn’t know to even how to behave.
