Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, finding it unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to contact. Customers frequently encountered issues with the website and user experience, including login problems, non-functional features, and a confusing interface. The service itself was often described as unreliable, with many experiencing account suspensions or closures without notification, leading to significant inconvenience and operational challenges. Some people were dissatisfied with the company's communication regarding changes to their services, particularly when it involved pricing or account terms. However, some reviewers found the email editor UI to be convenient and intuitive, and felt that the service, despite its flaws, generally gets the job done if one understands how to use it.

I've been using SendGrid for a while

I've been using SendGrid for a while, and overall, I find their email delivery service to be quite reliable. However, my recent experience with their signup process has been less than ideal, prompting a three-star review.

Firstly, the signup process was unnecessarily complicated. I encountered an overwhelming number of requests for information, which felt excessive and somewhat intrusive. It would be beneficial for SendGrid to streamline this process, making it more user-friendly and straightforward for new users who are eager to get started.

Moreover, since the Twilio acquisition, it seems that SendGrid's service quality has taken a hit. While Twilio's involvement had the potential to enhance SendGrid's capabilities, I feel that instead, The integration of Twilio should have meant improvements and innovations, but I've not yet seen these materialize in a meaningful way.

In conclusion, while SendGrid remains a powerful tool for email delivery, the cumbersome signup process and post-acquisition issues with Twilio detract from its overall appeal. I would love to see improvements in these areas to make it a top-tier option once again.

Impossible to unsubscribe from service.. Help Idiots!

Impossible to unsubscribe from service. Two days, 8 emails, two phone calls from idiots, and a series of impossible requests that include all accounts used by Authy Account, all devices used by your Authy Account, as well as all phone numbers associated with your Authy account... bullshit. Give me the night-time phone number for bosses Sameer Dholakia and Khozema Shipchandler, and the FTC and we'll see about bringing this scam stock to the basement. What a shit show... do not use, and do not invest.

Does not even deserve a star

Does not even deserve a star. Their customer support is horrendous. I'm not able to log into my account for 2 weeks with the help of 6 different "support staff" who responds to an email then does not respond again. It's a incredibly sad trend. Worst ever.
Until today I'm paying $100 and my query is still not resolved. Nobody wants to help fix it. #Closeyouraccount #boycottsendgrid

⭐☆☆☆☆ Beware

⭐☆☆☆☆ Beware: SendGrid Overcharges & Ignores Proof

I have used SendGrid for my email campaigns, but after being overcharged $300 for two consecutive months, I am absolutely appalled. Despite sending only 17,500 emails in both January and February 2025, SendGrid falsely billed me for 225,000 emails each month. When I provided clear proof of my actual usage, they refused to correct their mistake or issue a refund.

This is beyond a simple billing error—it feels like a deliberate attempt to overcharge customers who aren’t meticulously auditing their invoices. The lack of response and accountability from their support team is unacceptable. If you value transparent and honest billing, avoid SendGrid at all costs.

I am now disputing the charges with my bank and filing complaints with consumer protection agencies. Save yourself the headache and look for an alternative provider that doesn’t engage in such deceptive billing practices.

They blocked me without explanation for being "a spammer" while I didn't even send one email…but spent a lot of time to integrate their API in my application. So I coded for nothing. The guys in support are very not helpful, like they are forbidden to have any common sens.

Not activating my account after asking for a whole lot for account creation

I spent 2 hours getting a domain and setting up my website because it was required in the registration process, only to be told that they are not activating my account for no clear reason
"We appreciate your interest in Twilio SendGrid and your efforts in completing our account creation process. After a thorough review, we regret to inform you that we are unable to proceed with activating your account". Screw sendgrid, screw twilio.
My bad for not looking up the reviews here first.

Cannot send mails for over a week and support ghosted me

Over a week ago, my account started saying it required further review. Even after talking to support, they gave me no solution except to simply wait it out. They stopped responding altogether, and one of the open support tickets magically disappeared.
This forced us to switch providers at a very inconvenient time.

DO NOT USE SENDGRID. Your account may have problems, which can prevent you from sending mail for days or even weeks.

Go elsewhere if you have the option

Horrid, does not return failures where other email servers do when actually sending the email via SMTP. For example, if you send to a domain that does not exist it all seems to go well - about 5 mins later you get an item in the "Blocked" list stating that the PTR record does not exist.
And to make matters worse, if you try to use their API to access the blocked emails, it has NO actual link back to the actual email message-id so you can link it back to a message - the same goes for bounces.
When you do find something that actually references an ID for the messages, it is their internal ID which bears NO relation to the actual email that you sent making it almost impossible to relate messages back to other servers!

The WORST email service

We've subscribed for the Email API plan, and I expected it to provide stats per email: was it delivered, opened, clicked, etc? By default, the service offers only aggregated data for all emails sent in a given time interval, meaning that you will never know which email exactly was opened and which links were clicked - something I have never seen in any email service before.

I searched everywhere in the settings - the multiple docs in the knowledgebase stated that this analytics is already included in my plan and provided links to these analytical pages - ALL LEADING TO THE MAIN PAGE.

I tried to reach out to their support - but they HAVE NO SUPPORT, only a silly AI chatbot that gave me very generic, irrelevant responses. No proper support via email or chat, connected to a real human, wasn't suggested on the support page. After some digging in the sendgrid's partner pages, I found their Twitter account, where they allegedly provide support via DMs (this is beyond dodgy, btw). Contacted them on Twitter - no response again.

So, I thought I might need any add-ons to see the advanced statistics per email. At least, this is what their AI suggested - an add-on called Email Activity API. I followed the link to get that add-on, and - you guessed it - there was no add-on! The add-on page was redirected to the Email API pricing page.

BOTTOM LINE: This product has serious gaps, they provide no support, and have a useless knowledge base. I will migrate to another service.

Worst email delivery platform on the market

I have a client who insists on using this platform for their email marketing, and It has the worst email builder, testing and data management I have ever used. I would recommend using anything else instead. Utterly outclassed in every way.

Answered all questions to best of my knowledge, and sent a reply.

New customer

New customer, new SMTP, paid service. They use Pooled IP's and give you blocked IP's so your e-mail don't even reach the spam filter. No solution other than pay for a higher plan. Crazy, support was okay I guess, first live chat I got side tracked and they said I had to contact my own hosting, second chat I got a good explanation. Couldnt advise them to anyone unfortunately. Wish I checked reviews before I signed up.

"Sorry but we do not want customers"

Like so many others here, I was immediately thrown out after reactivating an old account. This is what I got after answering their automatic e-mail about suspension:

I mean. "I'm sorry but we do not want customers" is what I'm hearing. Fine by me. I just feel bad for those who have plenty of their client's projects using Sendgrid, luckily I'm not in that nightmare situation.

WE HAVE LOST COMPLETE TRUST!

Horrible email sender! We've used SendGrid for nearly 3 years now, and out of nowhere, this weekend they suspended our services claiming our account was exhibiting suspicious behavior. We use SendGrid to support email sending for our online software application. This unexpected and unwarranted outage impacted our clients and operations. We immediately reached out to customer support for assistance and received the most unhelpful and incompetent support, repeatedly being told that the Compliance Team would review our case. In the meantime, we now have to explain to our customers that we are experiencing an outage that we have no control over and no estimation on the resolution. It's incredible that a vendor would suspend services without a single warning email. We have lost complete trust in SendGrid and are now opting to switch to a different email sender.
