Great course for anyone starting or already advanced at communicating their research to different audiences. Lots of useful tips for making your science more understandable to all. I really enjoyed the live online workshop. The self-study videos were also great and I will be coming back to those.

I am extremely impressed by the Seyens training.  Dr. Jernej Zupanc is an amazing communicator and trainer, and thus the training effect is double as good. His content is well thought of and brilliantly delivered, as, at the same time, he is teaching the course and of course using his own methods in visual communication to do this: "Do as I say and do" in that case. And somehow he also makes it fun and entertaining. On top of that, he really knows his audience (AAZ framework) and provides scientific background and evidence on how audiences perceive information and our senses work. All  scientist and teachers should have this training at the start of their career or as a very good refresher.

After the course, I immediately saw benefits in my work and my presentations got immediately more appreciation

Very helpful workshop. The info and advice is actually useful and beneficial for my work as a scientist. Jernej is a good instructor, explains things in a easy way and gives great feedback for improving your own visual communication.

I was not a fan of the online training due to the breadth and depth of the fundamentals section, but the online training was worth it! My slides were featured numerous times, and I was able to get actionable feedback. For the other slides or figures, I was also able to learn and compare what I am doing to correct simple mistakes.
I would not hesitate to take this again.

It was really efficient and very useful workshop, which I have ever visited. Very well structured and the way, how it was presented, was amazing! It gave me a conception, what I have to include/ exclude in my scientific research that my audience can easilly get the message of the talk. Very effective and focused course from basics to pro-tips on visualization for scientific figures, slides or basically anything that involves your eyes. I can strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their skills on visuals!

I found the workshop quite helpful and fresh. The information is presented in a clear way. Feedbacks we got about figures and slides were informative and constructive. I believe any scientist would benefit from this workshop.

For me, as someone who comes in as a non-STEM practitioner who work with STEM content, present work on STEM content and even collaborate with STEM people, I am getting a more systematic view of what it means to present good quality content to a mixed-level audience. I also now learn to be more intentional in crafting my presentations from the beginning, instead of by the way, while finding merits in keeping things simple when all else fails.

I would recommend an addition to a section in this course on how we could use words in more visual ways, especially those of us who work with a lot of verbal texts and find it hard to minimize without losing essence of the message. I feel like the message on using hierarchy in the figure-ground section is helpful and could be developed further with organizing textual arguments. For some of us coming from certain fields, there is always a resistance toward what some consider as a reduction of a 'beautiful mess'(hence resistance toward a TED-talk like presentation), so it would be good to learn how we could use abstract-image visuals as stand in for these complex mess without hiding that mess.

I really enjoyed the video courses and the live workshop. Dr. Jernej Zupanc is clear in its explanations and gives feedback in a constructive and caring manner. The fact that examples are presented and feedback about the slides and images that everyone created is very useful. I learnt about scientific communication and discovered new tools.

Had a great experience during the Visual Communication course by Jernej Zupanc! Very well structured, clearly explained, accessible and all-encompassing. Really liked the applied and very personal live session. Would recommend this course to everyone interested in clearer communication of your science. Definitely helped me a lot!

By far the best course I've attended on SciComm.
Jernej taught us by using our figures and slides as examples which made it both practical and personal
His online course is well structured and, although I didn't finish it before the workshop, I immensely benefited from sketching my research and presenting it to peers without any words

The course is well organized. Video courses were quite helpful, especially taking them before the webinar. I appreciated that webinar was mainly about giving feedback to all participants. I enjoyed.

I think the workshop is really valueable and it is possible to see that the lecturer puts a lot of effort into evaluating the material, which is great!

I would personally split it into two days because it is a lot of information together and my brain was tired at the slide feedback part, so I could not enjoy as much as possible.

The personalized feedback was very helpful and I thought the organization of the workshop was very engaging and clever.
