I didn’t even get a chance to try Shef. My first weekly order was scheduled for a Monday between 4pm and 6pm. At 7:30pm, I reached out to customer service and was told my delivery was delayed, but the order was still on its way. At 9pm, I was told the entire order was being cancelled and I was being refunded. My husband and I did not meal prep or grocery shop for the entire week because of the Shef order that was supposed to arrive. We then didn’t have time to go grocery shopping when we found out at 9pm that the full order was being cancelled. We both work full time and have a toddler at home, so I don’t even have the words for the inconvenience this has caused. Shef offered a $30 credit if I wanted to place another order, but the earliest delivery date wouldn’t be until the following Monday, so we were still left scrambling for meal prep. In addition, $30 covers maybe two of their meals. This company needs a complete customer service overhaul.

For the most part, the chef meals I’ve tried have been very good. I gave four stars primarily because they don’t include very many vegetables with their meals!

I liked the taste and quality of food. I feel that’s a fair price to pay. Both dishes heated up well. Though I followed my own way to reheat both dishes. Thanks for solving Monday night dinner :)

Food is great and delivery reliable

I thought the food was very good for the most part, and I could stretch it especially some of the Indian dishes. I did put a lot of research into who I chose.

One thing that was difficult is that there is a lot of single waste plastic. Washing it and trying to reuse it was labor intensive. It would be great if there were re-used glassware (they could ask for a refundable deposit). That way also you know the food is not being put into plastic that will leach, while hot.

One of my friends liked it; one of my friends did not. Overall I think I would do it again if I were in a busy time of my life. I came off because I am now on a different diet and also trying to save money.

Food variety is good. Most of dishes are good to great. Very convenient for busy people.

Excellent web application. Lots of choices and excellent customer service makes shef.com a very good meal plan service. The only thing I will like to improve is paper cups instead of plastic cups.

good flavors but very limited variety of proteins like beef, lamb, turkey, and fish. Since it is always a surcharge for proteins, they should offer more.

I started using this service because I have adhd and deciding what to cook for dinner breakfast and lunch is exhausting. With Shef I’ve been able to eat yummy meals without all the self shame beforehand. Thank you!

Great food, no comparison with other delivery apps. I had a fantastic japanese fusion diner, with good quantity and super fresh fish. Can't recommend this app more!

Really tasty food, delivered conveniently, very nice selection every week.

Have used this meal service for 6+ months and I receive consistent, quality meals and delivery. When an occasional glitch happens, customer service responds right away, actively listens to concerns and receives constructive feedback in the spirit of striving to improve. Individual shefs respond to feedback as well, and communication is professional and friendly. Pricing is mostly reasonable. Menu selections offer plenty of cultural/regional options. I highly recommend!

This time you got my delivery right and I really appreciate you getting it to my doorstep and picking up the red bags. I'll order again.

We have been loyal customers of Shef.com ever since they started their service in DC. We absolutely loved the variety of ethnic food to choose from and the diversity of excellent shefs from around the world! But we are very disappointed recently when Shef.com has reduced delivery to just 3 days a week and most of the amazing shefs we loved seem to have left. They are promoting a subscription based service now, the the meal choices there absolutely lack the diverse flavors that we loved. Now we are looking for alternatives on the DMV area.
