I’m really disappointed with my experience with Shepherds Friendly. I signed up after seeing a promotion through Quidco offering £150 cashback for starting a policy with a £30 monthly premium, plus a bonus on top. That offer was the main reason I even considered signing up.
After waiting for months, Quidco declined the cashback, saying it was the retailer’s decision. I contacted Shepherds Friendly to find out what happened, and I was told I didn’t go through Quidco when signing up—which is completely untrue. I did go through the Quidco link. I even remember double-checking it because the cashback was the only reason I chose them.
This whole thing feels misleading. If promotions like these are just used to get people to sign up, only to be declined later with no proper explanation, then it’s not right. I feel let down and would seriously warn others to think twice before trusting these offers.
UPDATE: I missed the call from Shepperds. When I called back, I was told the head of member services will call me back if he indeed called me. Not received any callback so far.

Avoid this company unless you have plenty of money set aside, I put my claim in at the beginning of February, its now the 17th of April and they still haven't paid out, unsure if they even will by looking at the other reviews. They take forever to answer any emails if they even do. To say they advertise to be to help cover bills when you're off sick they sure do drag their feet.

My experience was greatly enhanced by excellent customer service; I enjoy speaking with the Shepherds Friendly team whenever I need assistance.
I wish I had read the reviews before transferring an ISA to this company. Everything takes longer than reasonably expected. The company are also dreadful at communication and let things drag on for quite some time. Their app/online features are also lacking and they don't have any sort of human compassion. It was like dealing with robots.

Opening the account was simple and I was happy I did.
Been trying to transfer a JISA to them for months now. They sent me the forms fairly quickly, but since posting them I've had not a single acknowledgement and the money still hasn't been moved.
After contacting by email to enquire, they say they aim to respond within 5 working days but it's well past that with not a peep.
The new 'app' is easy to navigate but has also removed the support options and doesn't have nearly enough to manage the account yourself.

Attention to detail and good customer service. It was easy to understand and all information was very well received.
Very straight forward and the customer care always there to help.
The account opening process was very smooth. Also the user interface is very intuitive and gives an overview of all the information one needs easily.
Opened a stocks and shares isa a week ago. Initial payment has gone through ok. Then transferred another £100 from my current account and it hasn’t shown up. Been on to customer support yesterday morning and they said they would have it sorted by the end of the day and email when it’s done. Not heard a thing since. It’s now the weekend so I can’t do anything, but come Monday morning I will be back on to them and once they have found my money I shall be closing my account and investing elsewhere.

Please do not ever use this service at all, they like too take your money and tell you a good story, when it comes to paying out they aren’t interested at all, don’t fall victim too these. I was off sick for 11 weeks with stress due too my father passing, wasn’t interested, they don’t care so please stay away. All protect my income are a waste off money all after 1 thing and that’s profit. You aren’t taking any more money out off me, and hopefully no one else. Absolutely fuming upset.

AVOID AVOID!!!! This is company is absolutely disgusting, quick enough to take payment for a policy that they have no intention of honouring.
My husband was signed off work by the mental health team not by choice he took advice from the professionals. He never takes times off work, even went back to work within two weeks off chopping his thumb off. He felt he didn’t have to worry as much as he had taken out the policy for security when he was contacted by a third party company. I just wish he had read other reviews written.
He has been constantly on the phone to the company, after being told time and time again someone would call him. He hasn’t received a single phone call in the four week(so far) process.He hasn’t received any correspondence at all. After all empty promises stress started to add to the anxiety he was already suffering with as he has a bills to pay.
The company are trying to find every single excuse not to pay out, even down to the fact my husband made a phone call to his doctor about medication then didn’t have a follow appointment. 1- It was a general enquiry that a pharmacy was able to help with 2- this has got absolutely nothing to with his current condition as was six month prior. All the medical information has been provided, all the medical information clarifies that my husband has following medical advice and has not had the issue previously and it’s all new. We are now having to beg medical professionals for letters to support all the information already provided. We are at risk of losing our home and this company don’t care. They won’t give us any hope or any clear information just making him jump through hoop after hoop.
Imagine a company feeling so powerful that they are making a man with mental health issues feel worse then he already does.

I had a query, so I sent them an email through there website. A few hours later someone called me up to help me with my query which was resolved on the same call. They also followed it up by sending me relevant information in an email.
I’ve spoken to 4 similar companies and none of them had as good customer service as Shepherds Friendly.
Unfortunately they are not offering what I am looking for otherwise I would have no hesitation in using them.
Good easy access website with simple account opening.
