Love this website. To me it is great to browse and shop for hidden treasures and help a local Non-profit organization.
My experience with shopgoodwill.com has been very good. I buy toys in bulk which are by the pound. Some toy lots have amazing finds in them, all of them have at least one hard to find item that I have been looking for. These items are donated so there is no guarantee on condition, which for the price I pay is no big deal. My advice is to always set a budget, read the description and disclaimer on the auction. Remember, this is a website that is a non-profit and depends on donations and sales to survive. So, with that in mind buy from this website knowing that you are helping a great cause.
NO LIABILITY NON-FUNCTIONING ITEMS
Radio was not tested and when I reached out to their customer service they said they didn't have the staff to check if in working condition. Statement if purchased as is with no refund! Item purchased as is. . .
Thievery
Scam...
Your account will be inactivated if you seek to combine shipments. Then when you reach out to customer service, no one responds. No explanation is given. You therefore cannot ship the bids you have won.
Something FISHY going on
I buy a lot on goodwill.com, and for the most part am happy with my purchases, although I’m not sure if I am bidding against employees or real bidders…. But in the last couple of months I have been given refunds for items I won because (1) item was lost and/or (2) no reason given… REALLY?!?!? Why bother with these people who are so unreliable, especially after reading the other reviews. I had an inkling something fishy was going on 🐟
Purchased a new with tags ralph lauren…
Purchased a new with tags ralph lauren suit from shopgoodwill for $300. To my surprise there was literally 15 holes in the suit. The suit is literally described new with tags excellent condition no flaws. I can not even get customer service to respond to me. I had to file a complaint with the attorney General for false advertising. The suit came from central north carolina do not trust this location to miss this many holes is insane
Fake bidder. Takes advantage of my mistake…
fake bidders.instead of setting my max bid at 31$ I somehow put 301$ on some baseball cards worth less than 50. out of 4 bidders 2 stopped at less than 20$. Then 1 bids 75$ 150$ 300$ leaving me stuck with a bill of 301 plus crazy shipping and handling. I made the mistake so I was going to go ahead and pay when I thought something is bad wrong ,why would any one bid 75 150 300 for 30 to 50 $ item. very confused and wonder how employees would benefit , something way wrong for sure
Worst Shopgoodwill Ever
Zero stars. Shopgoodwill (Ventura Santa Barbara Counties) sent me a speaker I bought that was not properly packed for shipping and got dented/damaged during shipping. I tried contacting this particular shopgoodwill the same day a few days ago when I received the damaged item to request a return and a refund but has not received any response at all. I also tried contacting the shopgoodwill headquarters in CA today and also did not get a response. This shopgoodwill is ignoring my inquiries about an issue they caused and probably hope that I will just walk away quietly and just give away my hard earned money for their damaged merchandise. This shopgoodwill location is the worst I have encountered buying from shopgoodwill ever. I want this shopgoodwill to start a return for the damaged item they sent so I can get a full refund for my purchase. They charged me a $10 handling fee (barely got a few sheets of bubble wrap for that) and a ridiculously high shipping fee of $30. I want all of this unnecessary expenses refunded as well.
The Goodwill on Beach Blvd off of 3rd…
The Goodwill on Beach Blvd off of 3rd street in Jacksonville Beach, Florida is HORRIBLE!!! I have beEn going there almost every day since they opened the new remodeled store and spend between 60.00 to over 100.00 per day not to mention that I give 60% of what I buy back in the form of re-donation and donate many other items on a regular basis. I would go in and everyone was friendly and knew who I was!! I am recovering from Cancer and it was my Happy Place to go and spend some time!!!! I go in now and there is no music the employees are the RUDEST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH AND THE PRICES ARE HIGHER THAN NEW RETAIL!!!
IDONATED SOME UGGS A WHILE AGO AND THEY ARE CHARGING 49.99 EACH PAIR!! I am donating to help the less fortunate who cannot afford to pay high prices for nice things and yet I am giving the things to you for free and you are ripping people off!!! An employee was rolling out a rack of cloths this morning and I was pushing my basket by the rack so I would have a chance to get in and look before everyone jumped in and there was no room not even near the employee as I have been doing this for years and she told me BACK OFF BECAUSE I WAS A SAFETY HAZARD!! What employee tells a customer to BACK OFF and let alone a good customer who has been doing this same thing for years!! I was in no way a safety hazard to anyone. This same employee says the same thing no matter what she is bringing out and yet left a whole bin of BROKEN GLASS SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STORE FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES. SHE HAS BEEN VERY RUDE TO ME SEVERAL TIMES AND I HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT NICE TO EVERYONE THERE. In the past they used to put customers first like they do at other stores and now thinking it is ok to tell the customer to BACK OFF until she is done is DISRESPECTFUL AND RUDE!! THE ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AND WILL NEVER EVER DONATE OR STEP FOOT IN THAT STORE AGAIN. MY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WILL ALSO STOP SHOPPING AND DONATING AS WELL!!
4stars to get noticed(GW is a SCAM)
I put 4 stars so it would be posted. ShopGoodWill is a scam. Go to the bid history on any item you will see a 6 digit name those are GW workers. They bid higher on all items to increase the profit they make. I have been bidding for 4 years til I figured it out. Infuriates me knowing everything was donated to them. I don’t mind bidding, but don’t bid just to increase your profit. You will notice a lot of things reposted and back on auction, that’s b/c the got stuck with the winning bid!
Got a XM Radio from their main display…
Got a XM Radio from their main display shelf just to get home and there was no radio in the box paid 14.99 for a box full of cables no radio in it at all this company sucks.... every thing is either broken or missing should have checked box before leaving better to completely check it before you buy anything....
I won a Lenox clock I know that say as…
I won a Lenox clock I know that say as is but I paid good money for and it does not work you put just 1 battery in it so why did they check if it works. The “Goodwill” makes millions off free stuff are they so greedy to put up broken items on auction. Very dissatisfied particular purchases its not right it’s so simple just putting one battery in the back of a clock to test it good grief.
Just a scam of an organization
This organization as a whole can not be trusted. Right down to the employees. Use to shop in stores for years and that went to hell. Tried online which I never thought was a worse experience. No accountability across the board. More lost items, electronics that don't work, or their fall too is abandoned. You are actually better shopping with ebay where as a buyer you are covered in the event of fraud which seems to be common place with this organization. Just look at their Better Business Report where there is 10% resolved issues out of 100%. That pretty much says it all. What is abandoned is any morals anyone must have to work for this place. "Putting people to work" on the backs of others. That should be their moto. I'm surprised they haven't been shut down yet.
Unsuitable and disrespectful Supervisor at the Auction part of the Goodwill Stores
This incident happened at the Goodwill Outlet Auction in Virginia Beach,Virginia off Greenwich Road. At this auction you can bid on several different types of things. This particular evening I bid on a box (There can be as many as 20 boxes more or less ) . A box can have several many different things in it. The boxes are very large so you don’t know what’s at the bottom of the box so you can only see what’s at the top of the box. If you like surprises it’s so much fun. The auctioneer starts the bids for the boxes usually at five dollars and can go up higher. I made a bid on a box and paid for it. A friend and I were looking through my box when this female came up to ask if this box was mine. I said yes. Then she asked if that was my number on the box I said yes. This female then said that’s not your number. The box did have my bid number written on it. I asked her why was she here? She said “This is my job to make sure people are not stealing and I am the boss/supervisor“. So again I asked her why was she here? Then I asked her was she going around asking other people is that there box that they are in? She didn’t answer. Then she said to me, “You just in your feelings because you got caught stealing”. I said that’s a lie and that’s a mighty powerful accusation that you just made in front of these people. To me I felt like that’s “Defamation of Character”. Instead of going to talk to a lawyer (Because that was really embarrassing ) . I decided to write a review of this person and also contact her supervisor. Just so you know everyone else that I have came in contact with and talked to were very nice and a joy to be around. The customers that come in to bid at this auction are even the best. This female that was hired as a supervisor needs help on how not to be uncouth, disrespectful, and unethical. I could add more. That’s what I saw with the way she approached me. Otherwise folks It’s fun being at the auction on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
RE: Fraudulent online charge!!
RE: Fraudulent from "Industries of Southern Arizona" I bid on a small black paper cut silhouette picture, and rec'd notification via email that I had won. I opened up my shopgoodwill.com account and there is a bill waiting for $602!!!! I have a whole collection of these little pictures and have never even paid over $50.00. I have sent several disputes notices to this Industries of Southern Arizona and was denied any resolution, stating in their reply: "we are unable to retract your bid". I went back to look at the 13 bids they had listed on my item where they had one person whom supposedly bid $601 before me... the other bids were not above $35.00. I am retired and have nothing but time on my hands. I plan to get to the bottom of this! Online buyers beware!!!
Ridiculous prices; outrageous shipping costs
I have purchased many items from Shopgoodwill.com for many years, before people started jumping on the bandwagon. Initially, I could get great stuff, for reasonable prices and shipping. Now? First, everything has a starting price of $9.99. Even for "handcrafted pottery" which clearly was made by a third grader in school. The shipping prices are outrageous. Keep in mind that these people get reduced shipping rates. But you are being charged full price and then some. This is a practice that was used on eBay many years ago. Instead of making money on the item, they make more money by overcharging on shipping. I cannot believe the prices people will bid on items that you can get at more than half the cost on other auction sites. Something is definitely wrong here. They receive these goods for FREE. Yes, I understand that Goodwill does do good work; BUT, someone should audit their organization. I'm sure a lot of this money is going to people employed by this "charitable organization" and trickles down to those who are in need. Check what you are buying and the final cost; check around; many items that are "new" cost more than if you bought the item from a retail or other online store. Collectibles can be found elsewhere for much cheaper. If people would stop paying these outrageous prices and shipping costs, they may wake up and sell their items at a more reasonable cost.
Goodwill is ripping people off
I agree with most of these reviews. You can purchase something at a good price and then you get to the shipping fees and the handling fees. Not such a good deal anymore. MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT SHIPPING COST BEFORE BIDDING. There are items that weigh maybe 3 grams and Goodwill wants $40 to ship the item. It is ridiculous. Another incident... I purchase a watch that was supposed to be brand new. I took it to my jewelers to get a battery and was told the whole working mechanism could not be fixed. It took me two weeks of going back and forth to get my money back. I had to finally talk to the manager of that particular store. It goes on and on. Make sure that good deal you think you are getting is really a good deal after shipping cost and fees are added to that good deal. I shop less there and am appalled at the neglect Goodwill shows their customers.
Items received broken
Wish I could give less than one star! I won an auction for some Hummel collectibles, all which were in good shape at time of auction according to the photographs. When received, the items had been thrown into a plastic bag all together and not wrapped to prevent breakage. As a result, the collectibles were received broken into dozens of pieces! Very poor practices! Do not bid on this site!
Rip off shipping charges
It lists a toy boat that has an actual weight of 13lbs. and a shipping weight of 117 lbs. which results in a $200 cost to ship ????
Hello Friends,
Hello Friends,
I just added up the 8 auctions I won and the total of my items was $55. I added up the shipping and handling of these items and the total come to $106. They were all shoes, and are items that are easily gathered. The total weight of 3 items was 2.50 from the same location, 1.2 which was recorded as 3, 1.7 recorded as 7, 3 recorded as 4, 1 recorded as 4, and 2 recorded as 3. All the handlings were $3.99. What???!!! why are they recording shipping to be 7 when its should be 3?????????????? You are ripping off the public! Why are you doing this?????? This is unfair and criminal!!!!!!!! You claim to be for the best interests of individuals and families, but you are gouging us with your unnecessary fees!!!!! I am going to post this on your platform to let everyone know what you are doing. In my hopes that everyone will boycott your online platform. My intentions are not malicious, just allowing others to see your unfair business practices!!!!! Be better, Goodwill!!!!
Inflated pricing on scale model…
Inflated pricing on scale model railroad items. Bidders be aware that it is commonplace to see a one bidder doubling or tripling the price in successive bids. (Yes, outbidding their self.) I was only interested in Lionel postwar cars/trains and would witness high/winning bids at higher than retail prices. This occurred with weak item description and photos. This is not the Goodwill I grew with. There appears to be no "bang for your buck" at the Shop Goodwill. On the contra, something "fishy" appears to be going on. I have deleted my ShopGoodwill account due to this sketchy auction site.
