Vacanza fantastica

Vacanza fantastica
We have done an amazing kitesurf cruise during Easter. Everything was perfect: organization, food, kite material. The boat is in very good conditions. The spots are incredible and all the crew members are there to help! I highly recommend Sickdog and I'm sure I will do another kite week soon :) Roberto, the organizer, has been super efficient. Adrian, our instructor, is a great kitesurfer and has perfectly managed everything on board!!

Una sola parola: impeccabile!

🇮🇹

🇬🇧
My experience with Sickdog was fantastic.

The crew is impeccable and extremely attentive to the needs of the guests: from the rescues in the water, which are free of charge using a tender, to the food, which meets everyone’s needs; the quality of the food is excellent and nothing is ever wasted!

There are always snacks and fruit on board, excellent for immediate energy.

The cleaning of the boat, the rooms and the common areas is always precise and periodic.

Roberto, the owner, in addition to being an excellent manager, is reliable and caring. During the course of the holiday he conducts various briefings, in which information about the spot and the routine are provided.

My level of Kitesurfing has quickly improved, thanks to the excellent spots and assistance provided by instructors and the tenders.

I highly recommend a holiday with Sickdog, it will not disappoint you!

Focusing on kitesurfing

If you’re focused on kitesurfing, learning or improving your skills, and you want to do it without spending a fortune on lessons and gear, this is the cruise to choose.
If you are after 5-star comfort and luxury amenities, look elsewhere.
What really stands out is the relaxed vibe and the fun, easy atmosphere, which comes from a laid-back but competent management and a friendly crew.
It feels informal in a good way, not messy.

What a week What a place

We joined a one-week kite safari with Sick Dog Surf, and it completely lived up to our expectations. We received a warm welcome and helpful information about the boat and the week ahead. The cabins are simple but perfectly fine—just a cozy place to rest and recharge after a day on the water.

The food was a pleasant surprise; the team in the tiny kitchen prepared delicious meals, and the rest of the crew was always ready to help—whether it was pumping kites, assisting with launches and landings, or sharing tips and tricks.

Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

Not the best experience

We joined a one-week kite safari with Sick Dog Surf, and unfortunately the experience did not meet our expectations.

From day one, there was zero communication from the organizer, Roberto. There was no welcome, no briefing, no plan for the week. We didn’t receive any safety information at all — we even found the life jackets by accident under one of the beds. Nothing was explained or organized.

The cabins are extremely basic. The bed sheets and covers were old and some had yellow sunscreen stains on them. The bathroom soap ran out and was never refilled. At night, the generator is so loud that the whole bed vibrates, making it almost impossible to sleep.

A positive highlight was the food. The guys in the tiny kitchen cooked surprisingly good meals — definitely one of the best parts of the trip.

The kite instructor, Kasia, suddenly appeared on Sunday morning without anyone knowing who she was. She only introduced herself briefly in the afternoon and unfortunately came across as unfriendly and not very approachable. She was supposed to organize the week, but there was no structure or plan at all. On the first day we lost half a day waiting around and listening to chaotic briefings — especially disappointing because we only had three windy days in total. Each participant was supposed to get one hour of coaching per day, but that didn’t happen since she spent most of the time kiting herself.

If you bring your own equipment, keep an eye on it. The crew is not very careful with the kites and gear.

On the positive side, the rest of the crew was extremely helpful and really tried their best throughout the trip.

We only had three windy days, which of course no one can control, but without wind it gets boring quickly on board. Beer and wine are available for an extra charge, but unfortunately only cheap, low-quality options.

Reply from Sick Dog

Hi,
I’m sorry to hear that your kite safari experience didn’t match your expectations, I’d like to address your points one by one, because some are absolutely valid and others seem to come from misunderstandings.

Arrival
On arrival you should have met Karina, or Andrea or me and be briefed, unless you arrived late late at night (it was your case? not sure), and in that case all you had was a cabin assigned with no briefing (that was done in the morning).

If you didn't arrive late, I'm not sure why the arrival briefing was not done on saturday - if you can let me know, it would be great.

In every cabin, it's explained that there is a storage area under the bed - I will add an extra note mentioning that there you will find safety jackets.

Cabins & Maintenance
The cabins are intentionally simple but overall nice and modern (according to previous feedback from other kiters), but they should always be clean and properly stocked. All can be solved, next time just inform the crew, we have plenty of fresh blankets and soap.

Noise at Night
Generators can be noisy, but Heaven Liberty has cabins far away from them. This part is unclear to me, and the vibration you describe sounds unusual - if you let me know personally what was the problem (that nobody else has reported) would be great.

Kite Instructor & Coaching
Regarding Kasia: she was in charge of the yacht and joins the boat every week on Sunday morning (the first day of the cruise) and normally introduces herself to the group at the first briefing. The first day is when you reach the first kite spot, it takes time to move the yacht from the marina to the islands and prepare the beach for kiting.

About the coaching hours, with limited wind and everyone wanting to make the most of the kite sessions, training for kiters that are already independent can get complicated. Still, nobody should never feel unattended, and we’ll make sure the coaching structure is clearer going forward.

Equipment Handling
I know kite gear is expensive, I will reinforce this with the crew.

Drinks Quality
We are limited, in Egypt, to local wines and beers - there is no plan B for that. I explain this in the PDF that everyone has received about our trip, the only option is to bring things from home or buy them inside the airport at duty free,

On the positive side, happy that you enjoyed the food and the crew!

Anything else, send me a whatsapp anytime!

Ciao

Roberto

Sick Dog Red Sea cruise.

Just back from a week on the heaven liberty with the sick dog crew.
Pros: people you meet. An awesome bunch of people from different nations all keen to kite and a great laugh had by all. This will make your holiday.
Some beautiful destinations visited in particularTawila Island (charged at extra 25 dollars per person per night there due to privately owned.) though some had a lot of coral in the waters and most people lost some skin with cuts and bruises.
Got to gate crash some wild parties put on by the other boats in the area.
Food - basic but enough to eat.
Kite instructors very good including Kasia and Mr Fox who was a lovely bloke and worked hard to make people have a good time and develop their kite skills.

Cons- boat is very basic and dated compared to all others we saw at all spots and the hundreds in the marina. you get what you pay for I guess.
Would have been nice to have had at least a clean bed sheet rather than sun cream badly stained ones.
Very frustrating, Every time we went to a beautiful spot and anchored up. Just before the crew said we could swim off the boat or dismount into the beautiful clear waters the Egyptian captain, with out fail, would open the toilet cassettes on both sides of the boat dispatching faeces and a huge brown mist all over the surface. Now this could have been done while moving or at night etc but he always did this before allowing the guests off the boat. Why? This was raised, and said to have been raised by many other visiting guests but still continues. The boat needs a new captain.
Lots of other boats took generators and threw parties on the islands at night. The heaven liberty took a volley ball and net with the ball hanging apart! Guests had to gate crash others.
Food bit repetitive though always enough to eat. Cold pancakes rather than fresh warm etc.
Beer not free or inclusive and only Egyptian Stella small cans. Guests including us bought our own bottles of duty free luckily.
Boats seemed to follow each other in a circuit so spots quite busy. 15 boats in one spot and a boat captain of another cruiser parked his right in the middle of one of the kite spots making things very difficult for us kiters. (Not a fault of the heaven liberty.)
Overall enjoyed the experience and good time had, but if done again would maybe look at another boat. Wind wasn’t the best would go earlier in the month or season in future.

An unforgettable week

I spent an unforgettable week with Roberto aboard the Heaven Liberty. For me, it was a completely new type of vacation, as I love the sea but am also a beginner when it comes to kitesurfing.

Onboard, the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, with the staff always smiling and ready to pamper you with small gestures that made you feel truly welcome. All the promises were kept, and my expectations were fully satisfied.

I was guided throughout the week by the incredibly patient Yunes, who corrected my kitesurfing mistakes without making me feel like an idiot. On one occasion, I misunderstood the timing and ended up on the beach at the wrong moment while Yunes was busy with another lesson. Roberto stepped in without hesitation to ensure I wasn’t left high and dry—thank you!

A few tips for beginners: this is a full-immersion experience that you won’t easily find elsewhere. Lessons are offered both in the morning and afternoon, depending on conditions. The progress you’ll make with Roberto and his team is hard to match (speaking from direct experience, having taken other courses in the past with little result). As you may have read, there are corals in the Red Sea, so be prepared. Advanced riders perform tricks in swimsuits, but if you’re not at that level, consider wearing a wetsuit with long legs, appropriate kiting shoes (neoprene, not beach/boat shoes), and personally, I recommend gloves too. Helmets (with built-in radios to hear the instructor from a distance) are available onboard. Each time you disembark, there’s a brief spot briefing highlighting areas to avoid. If you miss it, don’t hesitate to ask the instructor to repeat the important details. That said, beginner lessons always take place in sandy lagoons, and the instructor assesses the safest practice point based on tides and your abilities.

The boat is spacious and comfortable, with a chef who prepares excellent local cuisine and is always accommodating to special requests.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this experience—it’s something to do and, as far as I’m concerned, do again.
