Terrible experience, beware of delivery methods and lack of customer service
Terrible experience with SIG. Not only they were unreliable on the delivery, they also took a revengeful approach after we submitted a complaint with them, to end up not even answering emails. Beware of this company, buy with known and recognized sellers/distributors, saving a few pounds during purchase ended up being more expensive to us when we had to account for lost days of work.
Our experience:
We ordered materials (plasterboards, rock-wool and others) from one of their partners onlineinsulation, more than a week before, to be delivered on a particular day - Friday - for an important job that needed to be completed urgently during the weekend.
On the day of delivery, at 3.30pm we called enquiring what would be the expected time of delivery. Was told that the delivery was expected to occur very soon. After 4pm receive another call from SIG saying the delivery was not going to happen without any justification. Tried to solve the issue through several phone calls only to be told "there's a short of drivers" and that there's nothing they could do. Ironically, just one hour before our materials were in transit to be delivered.
At this point, around 4.30pm was still trying to get in contact with both companies but nobody tried to help, call us or even pick up the phone and as a result just spent the entire weekend without any feedback on the delivery of the materials. This caused significant delays on the works that needed to be done.
Next Monday afternoon, and since nobody contacted us (why?) - finally was able to get in contact with someone and agreed a new delivery date for following Thursday.
On the day of delivery, what I can only assume was some sort of revenge for our complaint, the driver didn't try to make any contact - no knocking on the door or ringing the bell or a phone call. He simply unloaded the materials on the driveway and left. When I noticed the driver was leaving in a small van and the materials were unattended. Bear in mind, this goes against SIG own policy stated on their website that goods/materials will need to be signed for and can't be left unattended. Fortunately for us we noticed in time before it started to rain, otherwise an entire order could be damaged.
Complained about this situation via email asking why the materials were left unattended and never got a contact from SIG. Absolutely nothing. Got a reply from the original seller stating: "this case is now closed at our end, can help no further with this".
