I’ve had two vitrectomies in both eyes performed by mr Kolb , both successful he’s a brilliant surgeon and I would recommend anyone whos considering a much needed eye op to go and see mr Kolb

My cataract surgery in both eyes, under general anaesthesia was my 9th operation recently. traumatised and anxious from my life changing events, does not begin to describe how I felt. I cannot thank Simon Kolb enough, Explanations of procedures, care, concern and most importantly listened to me. He heard every word and responded, including even ensuring my post surgery follow up appointment was on the day of my next surgery, in order to minimise my travel and issues. My thank you is most heart felt.

From my first appointment with Simon Kolb I felt relaxed and confident in my choice of eye surgeon. I had both eyes operated on at Spire in September and November 2021. I no sooner seemed to leave my room when I was back again relaxing with a chicken sandwich and pot of tea. The operation was painless and much quicker than I was expecting. The whole theatre team were professional at the same time friendly and I was totally put at ease. Simon told me what was happening at each stage of the procedure. It was also good to be informed about the post op aftercare what I could do and should not do which I treated very seriously as a result total success, I don't ever remember having such good long distance vision. I must also give praise to Amanda she is Simon Kolb secretary who I arranged appointments with, she is very efficient, friendly and helpful.

I saw Simon as an urgent Referral by BUPA. Simon put me at ease, explained everything in detail and the possible outcomes. Tests on my eye were carried out very quickly and Simon delivered a diagnosis in under an hour. Thank you very much for your incredible professionalism and friendly manner.

I recently had two cataract operations performed by Mr.Kolb, which I feel have transformed my life. I was astonished that the procedures were painless, and completed in little more than 15 minutes for each one. Mr. Kolb is a very kind and reassuring surgeon, who took great care to explain the procedures fully to me. I would not hesitate to recommend him highly to anyone.

After visiting Simon Kolb for a diagnosis of my eye which had a macular hole developing, I felt reassured about my situation. He was also clear about treatment options and costs.

Mr Kolb performed cataract surgery on my very short-sighted eyes in July and August 2021. Even though it’s a very common procedure, the thought of the operation is a bit daunting. However, I needn’t have worried. Mr Kolb provided helpful advice at my initial consultation. He created a calm and professional but friendly atmosphere in the operating theatre – very important for a procedure with local anaesthetic. He told me what was about to happen at each stage of the process – in general terms, nothing to make me anxious – and checked if I was OK. He treated his colleagues in a respectful and friendly manner. I would not hesitate to go back to Mr Kolb if I developed other eye problems and would happily recommend him to others.

I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Simon Kolb.From the outset he was reassuring, informative and professional.
He explained in simple language the whole process in the cataract and macular hole surgery that I required. He told me all my options and the possible outcomes.
Throughout the whole process he maintained a professional manner but at the same time was very personable.
During the actual surgery he kept me informed of the process and progress which I found extremely reassuring.
The outcome is beyond my expectations.

Simon's knowledge and dexterity is underpinned by his calm and courteously friendly manner. He takes the time to explain his findings, and listens to the patient's views to reach a consensus on the best treatment. His talent and study lead him to be highly regarded as a first-class specialist in his field. He is an excellent practitioner, gentle and un-hurried. He put me at my ease and ensured my operations were as comfortable as possible. His care plan was methodical and well structured, with each stage being resolved before moving on to the next one including long-term aftercare. Mr Kolbeye recently removed Cataracts from both my Mum’s eyes in two separate procedures. On both occasions my Mum found him extremely caring and professional. Prior to the first procedure she was very anxious, she suffers from COPD and was very worried about having to lay flat and still causing her to struggle with her breathing. Throughout the procedure Mr Kolbeye was very understanding of my Mum’s condition and she felt completely reassured. She is absolutely delighted with the results, her vision is excellent and at 85years she does not need to wear glasses. My Mum asked me to write this review and stated she would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Kolbeye.

I had an eye condition that was affecting my day to day operation in normal life. I had been to numerous appointments within the NHS before I came to see Mr Simon Kolb at Optegra. I have to say from first meeting to my last I was treated with the upmost professionalism. I have had surgery and my issue is resolved. I had cataract surgery in one eye performed by Mr Kolb and I am very pleased with the result. The whole process from explaining cataract surgery options to the actual surgery and after care was great. I developed a cataract in one eye following successful emergency surgery in London for a retinal detachment. I was very concerned about having further eye surgery, but Mr Kolb was very reassuring and patiently answered all my numerous questions.

I decided to have a monofocal lens for distance vision for the eye that was operated on and I use my other eye for near vision and reading. After wearing glasses for forty years, I no longer need them! I am delighted that the cataract surgery was successful. Thank you Mr Kolb.
