Intentionally Deceived and Over-Charged

Intentionally Deceived and Over-Charged

I recently rented a car at the Zagreb airport and was horrified to realize that they were charging me an additional 278 euros when I returned the vehicle. The original invoice that was presented to me upon pick-up had the term "package basic", which the employee explained was the cost to rent the car (which I had already paid for online). This was after I spent 10 minutes convincing the employee that I didn't want any additional insurance or coverage. He insisted that I was only signing the rental agreement for the cost I had already paid. I had paid about 278 euros to rent the car through rental.com, so I agreed.

When I returned the car, I was shocked when they asked me to pay for extra insurance that I had denied at pick-up. I have been in contact with the customer service representative for over a week and no action has been taken. DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT IN ZAGREB. They lie to their customers, fail to make things right, and intentionally deceive.

Warning avoid this company they lure…

Warning avoid this company they lure you in and then will charge you for anything and everything. Sales people are sneaky and deceitful. Will try and confuse you and then add as many extras as they can sneak through. I rent cars almost weekly and yet I was scammed. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Almost impossible to raise concerns afterwards. They almost hide customer complaints contact numbers. Search for yourself even check google reviews there are similar customers with feedback. I hope I have helped others avoid this company.

Sixt Croatia charge > 100 Euros for a pre-existing scratched hubcap

Hired a car with an online broker with Sixt Croatia for 1 week, at quite a good price in June 2019. On pickup I told staff that damage to passenger side hubcap was incorrectly listed as rear instead of front.
Attendant said he'd corrected their 'systems', but on returning the car, I was charged more than 100 Euros to for a pre-existing scratch to a hubcap.
I guess they use cheap rates as a loss leader and get their profits from false damage claims. It seems Sixt aren't a reputable company anymore and use the same awful tactics as the fly-by-night competition like Goldcar.
Shame the EU doesn't regulate this fraud-filled industry!

Poor show @SixtUK and @SixtHR clearly running a fuel scam from your Zadar office and over-riding full-to-full booking with overpriced fuel and unwanted insurance protection!!!! No action taken when reported to management. #carhirfuelscam #overchargedcarhire #carhirescamzadar

Wish I'd read these reviews first - it's pretty clear they've been running the fuel scam and roadside protection scam for months.

Expect approx 90 Euro extra fees after rental.

Customers Beware

Customers Beware - Sixt is running a fraud scheme to charge you ridiculous amounts for imaginary damage!

We have rented through Sixt Zagreb 5 times in the past 4 months but will never again. I will also write a review on every channel to warn everyone not to book with Sixt Zagreb. And unfortunately if you read other reviews you'll see that what happened to us is just part of their shady business practice.

We just rented a car for a week from Hotel Panorama, rental agreement number 9409447330.

Upon pickup my husband was pushed by the agent beyond normal to buy the full insurance package "so that you don't have any issues around damages".

The car arrived late from the car wash and the sixt employee just handed him the keys, employee didn't check the car with him for damages as which is standard procedure with other car companies. He just asked my husband to sign a document and told him to be on his way.

When my husband returned the car this evening, the Sixt employee (he looked like he was 15 years old), asked "do you have damage insurance with us?". When my husband said "no", the employee "discovered" a scratch on the inside edge of the passenger door and told us that we will be held liable $400 for it..

The employee also tried blaming & charging us for another mark, which my husband was able rub off with his finger, it was just dirt. But that employee was trying to charge us for as much "damage" as he could!

This is complete fraud. I now believe that they intentionally don't do inspections in front of customers so they can charge for imaginary damages if you don't purchase their upgraded insurance through them. Stay away from Sixt Zagreb!

AVOID

So arrived at airport went to office in terminal, waited over 45 minutes to be served. Once served was told about insurance on car not very clear st all, service staff didn’t seem to help to make this experience as stress free as possible he didn’t do this. So eventually we got the car sorted and were sent outside, weren’t told where to go just told “go outside” spent 20 minutes trying to find where we were going, eventually found the car park. Bare in mind it is now 12pm, lunch time our flight arrived at 10:15, 1 hour and 45 minutes later we still haven’t got the car. Appealing service. We met the girl in the car park and we were told “our car is not ready”. Not ready?? It should have been ready 1 hour 45 minutes ago! She sent us to stand “somewhere out the way” and come back in 20 minutes. 12:15 we went back, I asked the girl how long would it be, we also had activities planned for 2pm which I did not think I would have to worry about missing because our flight got there 4 hours before and the hotel was only 45 minutes away, however we were now stressed that we were going to miss our afternoon plan, not what you need while on holiday. The girl said she didn’t know, I asked for her name as she kept shrugging her shoulders and didn’t give any care about our holiday I wanted to complain and she refused to give her name to me, she was about 5ft 7, curly long hair, then the man from the terminal office came down again didn’t give us any answer and just left us to it. Eventually at 12:30 our car arrived! More than 2 hours after it should have been ready for us! I am shocked by this service and considering I work in car rental myself, I fully understand day to day life can be tough but this is unacceptable. As a result we were late to our activity and I lost my money. I will not be using sixt again, I understand that this is a franchise site but they are giving the whole company a terrible name. I want a full response explaining this and an offer of how you’re company can make this up as it completely ruined a good chunk of my holiday

Absolute scamsters !

Absolute scamsters !! Avoid at all costs. Don’t believe what they say ended up having to pay twice the price agreed. Customer service passing the buck. I will be taking this up with H /O if I could give zero stars would. AVOID

Horrific experience

Horrific experience. AVOID. They are basically cheating customers. They told my husband he had a FREE upgrade on the car we had booked which he tried to refuse as we didn't want a posher car. They pushed and pushed. When we returned the car we realised they had charged us 126 euros for the upgrade. They had used distraction and sleight of hand to make sure my husband didn't notice it was added to the rental agreement. They are now saying we signed for it and everything was explained which is untrue. Horrific from a global company. It left a very bad taste in the mouth at the end of our trip.

GET READY TO LOSE 500 EUROS

Sixt Zagreb ripped me off for hundreds of euros. When I returned the car to the airport and went into the office to give back the papers, they showed me a picture of some white lines on the right rear and said the car had been scratched. Something appeared to have rubbed against the car. I went back to the parking lot to see for myself, but the car had gone to the carwash. When it came back, there was nothing to be seen. Even the Sixt employee on the lot could not find anything when she was told there was a scratch on the right rear. I took a picture and showed the staff in the office. I also sent the picture to the customer relations people. They still charged me nearly €400 - add 25% for VAT and I had to pay 500 euros for scuff marks which disappeared in the car wash. TOTALLY ABUSIVE !!

This was the worst experience I have…

This was the worst experience I have had with any overseas hire company. I booked via Ryanair BUT they said that they didnt care what I had signed up to in the contract AND already paid for and needed to pay for loads of extras. I argued for 25 minutes and eventually got away with just paying 12 euros extra for roadside assistance. They then screw you by offering the petrol tank to be full and return it empty BUT charge you more than the normal petrol rate for it. AVOID THIS COMPANY IF POSSIBLE

They scammed me

The lady in Sixt in Split secretly added 'Roadside Protection' for €35 which we did not ask for at all, and she did not say 1 single word about it. She caused a lot of confusion by saying that the amount due was higher because Carflexi (intermediair that we made the reservation through) had not told them that we wanted a 2nd driver. But in retrospect the 2nd driver *was* already included in the price, and it was more expensive because SHE secretly added some kind of Roadside Protection insurance that we never asked for, and were not asked if we even wanted it.
Sixt customer service simply says they will not refund me the extra cost, so basically they give me the middle finger after scamming me.

These guys ripped me off!

These guys ripped me off!! Absolute conmen! They sold me road side assistance without asking! Unaware of this as the invoice was all in Croatian. When I returned the car I was stung with the charge assuming they wanted my card back to refund my deposit to my surprise they charged me!

The women on the desk also assured me to not bother filling the car back up as they would give me a better rate. WRONG!! When I returned the car half empty I was charged more than it would cost at a fuel station.

My friends rented with Avis and got far better car and service. You only have to see reviews below to realise these guys are a joke!

don’t waste your time dealing with these crooks

Rude girl will try to charge you 4 times more than your reservation made for! Try to tell her about your plans, say it’s just one day 90km trip and she will have a nerve to impose you the full tank of fuel. If you ask her for the total price including all the hidden fees, she will be glad to waste your time playing dumb with you. Even though you reserved the car in advance, be ready to wait until they prepare it for you (15-30 minutes). Going to Dubrovnik? You don’t need any green card! “Vehicles passing through the Neum corridor are exempt from the foreign use charge.” but surely, you will be rubbed to pay additional 25 eur/day at the Panorama branch. But luckily, she will give you the choice: get the green card for free if you buy next level protection. I’m sarcastic because i’ve Never ever felt such indignity and disrespect from the staff! I have rented two cars during my recent vacation, believing the first mistake were occasional. Will never go back to this company again.

I will never trust this company again

I will never trust this company again, the worst experience I have ever had.

They added hidden costs to the final invoice!

I booked my car via the Ryanair website, I read the offer very carefully and bought additional insurance, so I was sure everything was ok but our final bill shown double price.

The lady serving us was very unprofessional and rude, she didn't even try to understand us and that we feel deceived - she said that Axa's insurance does not protect us and we also need to buy additional insurance.

I never expected that the offer I accepted on the website would be completely useless because Sixt provided a completely different price option on the spot.

As that was almost midnight we had no other choice to accept additional fees and eventually pay more for something that I have never seen before booking a car on the website.

I am completely disappointed with customer service and the whole situation.

We are still waiting for the issuance of our deposit of 1200€ and I am afraid that they will charge us additionally.

I recommend that you avoid this company if you do not like being scamed...

AVOID

When we arrived to return there car there was an additional over 100 euros of charges compared to the price paid on the website. There were all hidden charges except the fuel charge which we were not aware of or didn't have explained to us. The price you see should be the price you paid upfront, not an additional amount plus the staff struggled.to explain them all then I asked what they were a for? Additional payment for a premium collection point? What's this all about? I selected where I was picking up and returning the car to on your website AT POINT OF BOOKING so why wasn't this added then? Green card additional costs of €36, FREE If I was using my.own card and own insurance company. Again a hidden cost and again I had declared AT POINT OF BOOKING the fact I was going through a 8 mile stretch of another country. Please avoid this company, I won't be using them for car rental again in the future. I also left by accident a jacket in the back of the car, now they checked it all over and didn't say, no doubt pocketed it! Please avoid this company.

SIXT not my first choice....

SIXT not my first choice....

We did not get the car we made a reservation for. My car was not clean, it had no washing fluid for the front windows and despite the filled in details on the rental agreement we did not get a car with a full petrol tank. The last made us drive together with the service attendant to a petrol station. Apart from this the reservation on my credit card is still active, more than 3,5 weeks after returning the car.
SIXT may be a German company but it doesnot deliver German quality.
Because this is my second bad experience with Sixt in Croatia, I cannot recommend this company.

Absolutely Ripped-Off.
Got charged over £90 for filling a tank with a quarter still left. They told us not to refill as they could get the cheapest fuel. Also charged 2.4 Euros per person per day for ‘roadside protection’ whatever that was?? Customer service is non existent for sorting this out. Never, never have anything to do with them.

Sixt Croatia - car rental agreement# 9380961569

A really unacceptable handling of car leasing. Upon return, Sixt refused to deduct the prepaid reservation fee in the final invoice. It means that they charged far too much for the car leasing. Don't ever use Sixt - you cannot trust their prices at all. I have tried now for 3 months to claim the amount back from Sixt through full documentation, but they do not respond anymore.
