Car rental with Sixt at Bergen airport…

Car rental with Sixt at Bergen airport on August 2025.
Nobody at car check in, no body at car check out though you insist that someone whitness the conform status of the car. 1 week after, you receive a charge of 5500 NOK for a 5 mm supplementary scratch on the hubcap in addition to the other already present, which have also been charged at the same cost and will never be repaired. 5500 x 5 scratch = 27 500 NOK, a good price to replace a hubcap. This practise is a pure robbery, I suppose only for tourists as Norvegians would have banned this company a long time ago.
You understand now why Sixt is the cheapest in Norway, to attract customers and charge them with unproved damages after rental. A creative business model which also damage Sixt reputation all over the world.

Rented car during work trip, nice new volvo. Took photos of 2 scratches/damages that was not marked in their papers in the wet rain on arrival figured this would be plenty in case something happened. Oh and one extra picture that fuel was not filled up.

No-one was there when I delivered the car, Two days after they come back with picture that looks like tiny white scratch on the same door I already took picture of bigger damage on. I tried to call them to understand what this was about. Company policy is that they do not answer phone only mail, yes really !

Their response to emails took several weeks and answered about half the questions i asked. Ignoring my pictures showing they had not checked the car from previous hires. Cost NOK 12 590 to polish out the white scratches on the same door that already had damage.

I asked if I can get proof they actually will fix it, NO because it is only cosmetic and they will do it when they have the time. (also after 3 other people have paid the same I suspect.. ) I also asked if they have some way of complaining on these things answer is NO you can try forbrukerombudet but we always do like this. I did get a sorry for the not filed tank of gas and I must understand difficult for the professional part to check thoroughly every time 😃

At least this was my last rental with them good luck to the next. Sixt platinum Trond signing off.

Wrong Damage report

No one was waiting for me at pick-up time at the airport as indicated in my reservation, I had to find a local number so I can call the representative who showed up 20 minuted later at Lofoten islands airport.
At car return, also no one was available and I had to drop the key in an open box!
Post return by 3 days, I got a damage report saying I scratched the bumper, luckily I had photos and videos showing the scratch was there before I take the car. Only then they removed the damage cost!!!
The car was in very good condition thought and the price was competitive.

Charged $400 for phantom "damages"

I rented a car in Bergen and returned in Oslo. The process was all great, until after I returned it.

2 days later, I get an email saying there is damage to the car. Supposedly a dent. I can't see it in the pictures they sent. In the video I took upon return, I can't see anything either.

THERE WAS NO DAMAGE.

Yet, as a customer, you are helpless. Zero recourse. Complete BS.

So I get charged $400 for a supposed dent that you can't even see in photos. And I was with this car the whole time i had it, I can tell you, there were no dents.

I believe Sixt employees are trained to say there is damage just to increase the company's profits. I do not trust Sixt anymore. They are no longer a company I will consider renting from.

I want to warn everyone who rents cars…

I want to warn everyone who rents cars from Sixt Torp!!!! Sixt makes money not only on car rentals, but also on damage. I was presented with damage that I did not cause. I was able to prove from photos and videos that there were already scratches. But there was one scratch that I could not prove. I was billed for 13,890NOK (1,200 euros). A 1 cm scratch is 13,890NOK!!!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM - Worst costumer service in Norway

I have rented using booking.com for my mother who is on holidays in Norway.
I called before booking the car to know if I could pay the car and depositum for my mother.

The man from costumer service told us several times uf was ok. I could just book and pay for my mother. I paid ahead on booking.com and even extra for an insurance.
At arkivar to pick the car costumer service told me:
- It was a mistanke
- They did not kniw who talk to me and it was no their problem
- They will not pay back the money
- At booking.com stay I git the car, and I Asker them why. The answer was it is your problem
- I got "I am sorry, we are not responsible"

I called other companies at the counter. They inmediatle explained to me, even without asking, that is must be the credit card of the driver. They were honest.
At Sixt they just took the money knowing they will not give the car ahead. Thst is robery.

Please, they are penty of good companies and avoid this liars.

Got charged $1200 for small scratches when car was covered in snow

I rented a car for two days in Tromso from the airport and within a couple hours of returning the car, on my way back to the United States, I received an email claiming that I had damaged the car and there were some scratches on the hood of the car. When I picked up the car, it was covered in snow so there is no way I could have seen if those scratches were there before I picked up the car. The scratches are barely visible and it could have easily been caused by ice or some other weather but there's no way I could know for sure and no way the rental company could prove it, however they went ahead and charged my credit card $1200 and for two days that the car would be out of service with them. I feel totally wronged and ripped off. I will never rent from Sixt again.

I had a very frustrating experience…

I had a very frustrating experience with Sixt at Oslo Airport, which I feel compelled to share. When I arrived, I was informed by an employee that it would take 10 minutes to get my car. After waiting 45 minutes without any updates, I went back to the employee to ask when the car would be ready. To my disappointment, he couldn’t provide me with a clear answer.
What made the situation even worse was that every time I asked him for an update, it seemed like he deliberately tried to avoid giving me a concrete response. It felt unprofessional and disrespectful to me as a customer.
I had expected a higher standard of customer service from Sixt, especially at a busy location like Oslo Airport. This experience certainly didn’t meet those expectations. I really hope this was an isolated incident, but it has made me very uncertain about whether I’ll choose Sixt again in the future.

Sixt Gardermoen tries to charge you…

Sixt Gardermoen tries to charge you from damage you have not caused. They present you with an outdated damage register when you rent the car. At return they take photos of old damages and wants to charge you for those old damages. TAKE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF THE WHOLE CAR BEFORE EVEN SITTING IN IT!!!!! Take A LOT OF PHOTOS!!! Luckily I took videos and have evidence, a lot of it to prove their scam. Do not use these scammers. They do this to customers who doesn't sign up for the full insurance policy!!! Nevertheless all ended well thanks to the photos I had taken and was able to present as evidence.

Very bad experience with this car…

Very bad experience with this car rental company, start from the beginning,i asked for a manual gearbox car Toyota Corrola,i got an automatic jeep Toyota Landcruiser i think,i went back to the office,it was closed straight away, someone come after 15 min tried to explain i never drived an aitomatic car, especially such a big one like that, after another 30 min i got a Toyota Yaris Cross also automatic,i ask to come someone to show me how to drive it,in the car park was already dark as it was almost 7.30 pm,i checked the car outside to be ok,well the big problem is they found a small scratch 2 by 3 cm on the rim,you have to stay in your knees to notice that,it looks so ridiculous and shame of them because they want to charge me 400 euro for that, big scamers how should i know it was not there before or they can do it after i gave the key, they asked me for photos of the car when i start driving,i'm not paying for this as i know i was driving carrefully with no problems,i recomand to avoid this company just read my ladt email from them now, started with ,,dear Sandy",well my name is diferent and i supose they copy paste all the emails to each customer...shame of them keep me over 2 hours for renting the car and by the way i lost over 5 hours because i had to go with the car for oil change in Bodo...i should asked them for a day refund as i lost the ferry to Lofoten,so at the end AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!!!++

They charged me for a miniscule dent…

They charged me for a miniscule dent (not visible without a camera machine) at the return. I did not do the dent and raised my concerns that the dent could have been missed during the initial inspection.

I found the communication process frustrating and got the feeling that charging for damage is a revenue stream that Sixt agents are incentivized towards. I use to like Sixt but after this experience I won't be renting from them anymore.

Do not rent from them

Do not rent from them! Worst experience ever. They had only one person attending the register and she took 30 minutes or more per customer. She was an absolute incompetent, We waited for our turn for over two hours and then she kept insisting on deals we were not interested in. Seriously she should be fired. Terrible experience.

Worst (and most expensive) car rental experience I've ever had.

Worst (and most expensive) car rental experience I've ever had.

Had a flat tire with one of their cars, spent 1 hour across 7 calls talking with their agents (some actually helpful, some plainly arrogant) making it clear I wanted to go with the cheapest solution, as my budget is very limited.

Got misled into thinking (I mean, they literally said that) it would be cheaper if they took care of it (repair + travel back to Oslo) instead of me bringing the car to a mechanic and then driving it back (no spare tire so changing it myself wasn't an option).

Received a 16'330 NOK ($1'530) bill a week later for the 3-day rental of one of their cheapest cars (115% increase of the maximum of the price range the agents had give me on the phone) . The money had, of course, automatically been debited from the bank account.

During the following weeks, sent comprehensive descriptions of what happened via email and called them several times to give them the opportunity to make it right and apologize for concealing information about the real price it would cost me (i'm pretty sure such concealment from a business to their customers is a legal offense). Didn't even ask for a full refund, just to reimburse the exorbitant un-announced fee.

During these countless calls:
- I've been put on hold forever and had to call back
- I've had to keep agents on the phone while I re-sent the email with all the information about what happened and make sure they receive it (all my previous emails kept mysteriously "disappearing", seems surprising as i would assume emails to be a trusted technology in 2024)
- I was never able to speak once to the "Customer Experience and Customer Satisfaction Supervisor" of Sixt Gardermoen (the irony is painfully laughable)

Finally, after too many hours of lost time, some guy who's apparently the boss wrote me an email explaining "there might have been some miscommunication" and "We regret any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused" but refusing to do any refund.

This cost me enough already and I don't have the money to hire a lawyer to push on this, so I guess this is it.

To whoever is reading this: if you’ve made it this far, please don’t let their attractive prices fool you into thinking they won’t scam you as soon as they get the chance. These guys are unprofessional and a joke when it comes to customer relations.

The other rental companies might not be perfect, but at least they never shamelessly stole my money the way these guys did.

Please DO NOT rent from Sixt Bergen

Please DO NOT rent from Sixt Bergen.

I rented from Sixt Bergen for a 2-week stay in Norway. When they handed me the keys at the counter, they informed me that the car they were renting me had several scratches. I took pictures of the scratches (indeed, there were many) and hoped I had documented them all. However, when I returned the car, Sixt Bergen sent me an email a mere hour after drop-off saying there were damages to the car and to provide them with any photos I took. Of course, they didn't indicate where the 'damages' were but still demanded photos of the car within 3 days of the email. I didn't respond to that email. After the 3 days, I received an email with darkly lit photos of 2 insignificant scratches on the bottom of the front bumper that they said they would need to get repaired, and I would likely be charged my deductible. To this email, I responded and asked for better photos and for them to provide me with documentation for my insurance company. A day later, they said they could not provide better photos because the car was out on another rental and they were going to charge my credit card USD 1,200 for the repairs. WHAT A JOKE. I responded and asked that they not charge my credit card because I said I would go through my insurance company, and they said they'd send me an invoice for the damages instead.

What's more, I noticed that my final rental invoice had 2 fuel charges (one for USD 80 and the other for $99). I contacted them about this, and they said a mistake had been made and they'd refund me the $80. I did receive the refund, but had I never noticed that charge, they would have gotten away with it. When I looked at Reddit reviews of Sixt Norway, many other people had this experience as well, so it seems to be a pattern with them and foreign customers.

All in all, this place is running a scam. Please avoid them and rent from any other company.

Stay away from SiXT Gardermoen location…

Stay away from SiXT Gardermoen location for your car rental needs. They are not trustworthy. We were traveling back from Flam to Oslo and were running bit late. Tried calling them no one picked up the phone. After return we went back to desk to return the keys. We were 45 minutes late and checked with them if they are charging extra day. Mr. Ludwig the person at counter confirmed with his manager that we won’t be charged. However after a two weeks we see a charge of $134 on our credit card. Upon inquiry Mr. Ludwig said that it’s past the refund date and we won’t get our money back. They are not transparent in their dealings and charge you extra money after a lapse of few weeks. Please be careful.

They are trying to charge me 10000 NOK for damages I didn’t cause - and I can prove it

I got a flat tire on my car, and took it to a shop/dealership to get it fixed. They couldn’t get it done the same day, but offered me a loaner car from Sixt to use for up to three days. I accepted because I had to get home. No public transportation in my area. I drove the car for about four miles, and I didn’t even bump into a bush. The car was parked in my driveway over night, and noone has been even close to where the damage is. Upon return, I filled up the tank, which cost me 59 kroners.

I was not given any form of paperwork when I got the car, just the key. I was in a rush and it was raining a lot, so I took pictures of the car and left. I didn’t see any damages before I left, and as I didn’t have the damage form for previous damages, I couldn’t check and verify either. The contract was sent to me the next day, a couple of hours before I returned the car. I signed it as I hadn’t spotted any damages and whatever I would spot in my driveway would still not count. I returned the car without any issue.

Then I get a warning e-mail saying that they have found damage to the car. Then an e-mail with pictures of some scratches above the back tire on the right side, which they say I have to pay for. I check the pictures I took, and found that the scratches were already there. I have geolocation, time and date for the pictures, so I circle them and send an e-mail back with pictures and an objection to the bill.

Dead silence for a good week, and then I receive another e-mail today saying that they are going to charge me 10000 NOK for the damages. They didn’t even mention what I wrote in my e-mail, so I suspect they haven’t even bothered to read it. The total amount for those tiny little scratches that are not even deep enough to go down to the paint is set to 14300 kroners including taxes.

Sixt are crooks, stay away!!!

Do not rent a car at Sixt Rent a car at Bergen Airport - not trustworthy

I am writing to express my disappointment and dissatisfaction with the car rental service I recently experienced with Sixt at Bergen Airport. I rented a car from Sixt company on the 8th of July with the understanding that it was due to be returned on the 10th of July. However, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to return the car until the following day, the 11th of July.

The reason for the delayed return was a rockfall incident that occurred on the main road between Voss and Bergen. The rockfall caused the road to be closed for safety reasons, leaving no alternative routes for travel. On the 10th of July, I promptly contacted Sixt Bergen office via phone call to inform them about the situation and to explain the circumstances that prevented me from returning the car on time. The representative I spoke with confirmed receiving the information regarding the road closure and assured me that they would make a note of it in the system.

Despite providing this information in a timely manner, I was disappointed to discover that I was still charged for an additional day of rental.

Their service level is very low compare to Avis and Hertz.

Don't trust them as I informed them and got confirmation from Sixt staff that they won't be asking me to pay for the extra day.

As a result After careful review of my case, they must inform me that the terms and conditions outlined in the rental agreement are binding, and they clearly specify the pick-up and drop-off dates and times. As stated in the agreement, any changes to rental agreement including extensions or modifications to the rental period, incur additional costs. This is a Force majeure situation and really difficult to understand the explanation of the company. Poor service, poor customer satisfaction!
