My long honest review

As a 44 years old overweight, single mum of 3 adults now, very adventure and kind of active in a way but a 24 hours carer for the past 3 years. took my daughter's skates two years ago to skate at the Arsenal with my 97 years old lady. Was great feeling to be on wheels after over 30 years, did skate straight without falling. Meet some people and I loved the things they were doing I tryed some moves. One girl told me about the skate course as she was doing it at the time and I could see her improvements week by week. She took me for a session and I was "wow". I did another one or two last years and for my circumstances had to stop but was always thinking on coming back. Went one Friday at the beginning of the year and was the first day of the course, enrol for the whole course and LOVED it!!Learned a lot! Really improve! Back skating was a dream and come true! I do now things I never even imaging! Meet great people! And I had a break of my care role. I used to come home with a smile from ear to ear and full of energy! 5 o'clock on a Friday was before the end of a week and I used to be with no energy and done (sofa, dinner and Netflix).still tired my son encouraged me to go and took the care role as he was seeing me happy. There was like magic! I was myself and everyone was supper nice! They kind of know me now. Forgot to said that I got late diagnostic ADHD and god know what else but sometimes I arrived there late, looked worry or sad but I wasn't, do my things as needed time to feel confortable on my skates and then boom! Happy smiling confidence, open! Not masking, just been myself!
...oh!!! Wait I forgot to said that I took the rhythem course after as I love music and dance!! Loved Kelly's moves when the music take over her and she is a great teacher and person. I did learned a lot, got the theory and some practice but perfection need more practice and I don't do much atm. I will be treating my self to more classes as it really make me happy and I am good at it at my own way and speed! Review is too long, I never do reviews as I don't know what to said or how to said things , got dyslexia and English is not my lenguaje. but I open myself here as my WHOLE experience with SKATEBASELONDON was inexplicable! Worthy to give it a go!! We are all unique and we live once! Here I AM! Peace!

Ahh Melinda, thank you so much. This is such a heart warming testimony. I didn't know about the struggles you faced (other than your role as a carer). So well done to you for going for it.

It has been great havinh you drop in every so often for a class (from the very first time) and then to return and complete a whole course. You always bring such beautiful energy (and smiles) and it's contagious!

We definitely know (and love) you. I hope you continue with your skating journey as there is so much more fun and fulfillment to be enjoyed.

I will see you again (soon I hope)!

⭐ 5/5 – The Perfect Blend of Fun, Fundamentals, and Progression!

I started Skatebase London’s 8-Week Core Skills Accelerator Course as a total newbie, I’d never even stood on skates before! My goals were basic: learn to stop, turn, and (fingers crossed) stay upright. Fast-forward 8 weeks, and I’d not only nailed those skills but also learned six stopping techniques, smooth turns, transitions, and even the foundations of skating backwards, all thanks to Kelly’s incredible coaching!

What made this course stand out:
- The vibe was great! Fun, upbeat music kept energy high, and the small-group sessions felt supportive and inclusive.
- Kelly and Donna's teaching was excellent! They broke down every move with clear demonstrations, emphasising why fundamentals matter (like practicing on your weaker foot from early. Game changer!). They also showed how to simplify or advance techniques, which helped everyone learn at their own pace.
- Falls were normalised (for me safety gear = no fear!), I learned how to fall safely but the focus on body awareness/weight distribution gave me confidence to push myself.

I’m now so excited to start the Edges, Transitions & Back Skating Accelerator course. This course was the ideal foundation, and Kelly’s expertise makes Skatebase London the best place to learn. I would highly recommend to anyone, whether you’re brand-new or looking to refine your skills!

Hi Jay, thank you for sharing such detailed insight on your experience of learning to skate with us.

Our Core Skills Accelerator program is designed to take the most inexperienced (new) skater through a step-by-step protocol that supports a good foundation of knowledge, understanding and confidence. One that allows each student to move through the lessons at a pace that they're comfortable with, while also arming them with the clarity and know how to take their skills to a higher level (if they should decide on some extra practice outside of the classes).

It has been so rewarding to watch you go from a tentative new skater, to one of great confidence. I have no doubt that you will continue to go from strength to strength. Keep practising and we'll see you on the next round of courses.

BEST TEACHER ❤️❤️

If there was an opportunity to rate kelly @ skatebase a 10 on here I would ... as it would be well deserved skating as an adult is definitely not how I remember in my *much* younger days, every muscle is worked it feels like a workout 🤣
Both kelly and Donna are great , they break everything down and let you go at your own pace , they work with you individually and as a group which is great , I finished my 8 weeks beginners classes on the 20th june , BUT I enjoyed it so much im going back. My friday evenings are now skatebase evening. Highly recommend skatebase London ..❤️❤️you guys

Beginner Skater

This is my first time ever writing a review on this occasion I had too. The experience I have had here was second to none, The level of expertise and patience that oozed out of Kelly was phenomenal. Anyone who ever wants to learn, she is the teacher to have.

Get your skates on - time to roll in style!

It's not often I find someone who excells at what they do, and can teach it!

Kelly has the ability to adapt her teaching style to each individual, ensuring they not only feel comfortable learning at their pace, but also feel supported in progressing to something new.
She encourages you to develop your own style, breaking down each move and the reasons for their development. It's definitely not "her way or the highway!". Just gotta make sure you're having fun safely.

Speaking of fun, the community she's encouraged, wow!
Everyone's there sharing their joy as things click into place!

I've learned so much in her classes. Definitely money well spent!

Thanks so much for leaving your feedback M.F!

Allowing each student to advance their skills in a way that works best for the individual is something that I do my best to make space for. I'm happy to support in ways that generate the best result possible.

I'm really glad that you enjoyed the course. You have definitely come a long way!

The classes with Kelly at Skatebase…

The classes with Kelly at Skatebase were beyond amazing... I started the backwards, edges and transition course just about being able to skate forwards confidently lol.... Fast forward to 8 lessons later I am super confident skating backwards in various styles.. Kellys patience and ability to break down techniques in bit size portions is so amazing.. I would highly recommend any course under Kelly's leadership and expertise.. Trust me when I say that your skating ability will increase drastically.. So sad that tonight's the last session with Kelly! but seriously I will definitely be back for more in the New Year !

Rhythm skating

I have thoroughly enjoyed my 8-week rhythm skating course and learnt so much. Kelly has a knack of breaking down the dance moves for all levels of ability. She is so passionate about skating it’s infectious. Looking forward to starting another course with her in the new year.

This was completely out of my comfort…

This was completely out of my comfort zone, I'm not athletic or particularly coordinated, and when I came to my first lesson it was only the second time I had stood in skates. My legs were shaking and I was sh** scared, Kelly and Donna were kind, patient and got me skating and stopping in that first lesson. I had been amazing, I never thought I'd be a skater but I'm on my way. I'd recommend the in person lessons, young or older like me. I'm a nervous person and I've really enjoyed it. I have a new job so can't carry on but will be using the skate base app.

Well done you should be proud of your achievements.
