Paid for new, received a used unit

I really wanted to like Skylight because the concept is great and the hardware itself appears nice. Unfortunately, my experience with customer service completely overshadowed the product.
I ordered a Skylight Calendar 2 as a Mother’s Day gift and received what appeared to be an open-box or previously handled item instead of a pristine new unit. The outer box was visibly damaged, the packaging presentation looked disturbed, and several accessories did not appear factory fresh.
I contacted support immediately with photos. To their credit, they responded quickly and acknowledged the issue, but the resolution was disappointing. Despite explaining this was a time-sensitive gift purchase, they would not send a replacement until I first shipped the original unit back.
For a premium-priced product marketed as a family centerpiece, I expected a more customer-focused response — especially for a product arriving in questionable condition.
The product idea is excellent. The customer experience was not.

Think twice before purchasing
Took forever to receive postage information and product arrived 2 weeks after I ordered even though I paid the extra priority postage.
I emailed asking for tracking and received an email fry skylight AI. Not helpful at all.
Product itself meh. Not sure it’s worth the hype.

The calendar and app aren’t syncing
The calendar and app aren’t syncing, and I’m extremely frustrated by the waste of time using this has been.
I have added similar events in the calendar additions that are added the same, but are demonstrated differently, even after edits to try and fix it. I have also added events choosing the time and the calendar reverts to am/pm (whatever is opposite to what I put in) - so events looks like they go for 13 hours not 1 hour AND it won’t update to what I want. The calendar looks ghastly with long lines of 13 hour events I can’t change and really not impressed with the lack of ease and consent requests to update to premium, even though I’ve paid for that service (& haven’t provided with easy instructions to use).

I’m a fairly tech savvy guy and I found the set to be messy and unclear. Had I read every pg of you comprehensive help pages before starting I might not had had so many mis-steps but who wants to do that. The device ie my calendar is brilliant and I love it but just found getting started very messy and not at all satisfying.
Overrated digital diary with most functions blocked…
Should come with a free welcome video as I still don't know if I can set the reminder to buzz when an event is due, I have tried! Most icons unless you pay for the subscription are there on the home screen but inaccesible!
Pricey for a glam digital organiser...also can set events in the past by mistake and can be time consuming going through all the hoops to set an event up, don't seem to be any default settings.

Loving my skylight calendars,
I'm a wildlife carer so helping so much with the wildlife in care and with feeds and medication.
I wanna get the max but being a volunteer and not being paid, I'm slowly saving, hopefully one day
As we get so many wildlife in atm I have 5 possum's and 9 kangaroos

It's good, but...
It's good, but hiding some of the extra features behind a subscription fee is ridiculous. Already pay way overs for the device as it is so these should be included by default. Without the subscription, it's really just lists and a calendar... Nothing fancy at all.

I have been checking into the Shop App…
I have been checking into the Shop App to see when it was going to be delivered but it didn’t update.
I checked today and it still said nothing.
I put some rubbish in the bin at the front of the house and I saw the box sitting there behind one of the brick beams.
I didn’t know the package was there and there was no text or email saying that the package had been delivered.
How would you feel as a customer? You have my phone number email address…. How could you do better and would you have been upset be this?
