Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your journey with Caledonian Sleeper.

We’re delighted to hear your positive comments about the en-suite shower in your room, the comfort of the beds and pillows, and the excellent breakfast experience in the Club Car with its views. It’s also great to know you enjoyed the lounges, as well as the cakes and coffee, and found our staff very nice throughout your journey.

We’re sorry, however, for the confusion and inconsistency around your breakfast booking and timing. We understand how frustrating it must have been to receive different information and then experience a delay on the morning of your arrival. Your feedback regarding booking availability up to later breakfast times is appreciated and will be shared with the relevant teams for review.

Thank you again for your helpful comments.

Club car inaccessible - no consideration provided

Club car was inaccessible, a big decision for our choosing this method of transport, and we were confined to our room. No consideration provided for this inconvenience. We were told that someone would come by to take a drink/snack order- after waiting for 40-minutes and calling for service, no one came to provide us with any service.

Breakfast was sub par. With some dietary restrictions, attempted to include beans and tomatoes with oatmeal - was told could only choose one breakfast item, no exception. Again, no consideration for loss of use of club car with zero flexibility.

Plus side - Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, bathroom as advertised, friendly staff at check-in and lounge.

Prompt and ease of boarding was good

Prompt and ease of boarding was good. The twin bunk room we booked was very cramped. We had to change on our bunk beds because of lack of space. Our carry on suitcases did not fit under the bottom bunk . The room was rather drafty . Breakfast and service was good.

We’re pleased to hear that you found boarding to be prompt and straightforward, and that you enjoyed the breakfast and service provided by our onboard team.

We are sorry to hear that you found the twin cabin cramped and experienced difficulty with luggage storage and comfort during your journey. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your journey with Caledonian Sleeper.

We’re sorry to hear that your journey was disrupted by the lighting in the seated coach and by noise during the stop at Edinburgh.

For safety and security reasons, some lighting within the seated coaches must remain on throughout the journey to allow safe movement for guests and staff onboard. We appreciate, however, that this can impact comfort when trying to rest overnight.

The noise experienced at Edinburgh is typically due to operational shunting procedures, where portions of the train are divided and reconnected before continuing to their respective destinations. While this is an essential part of the service operation, we understand it can be disruptive to sleep and apologise for the inconvenience caused.

We do appreciate your feedback and will share your comments with the relevant teams as we continually review the onboard experience for our guests.

The men who clank about with the sleeper at 3am in Edinburgh station were a bit quieter , didn't stomp through the carriage of sleeping people and didn't put the carriage lights on strobe mode flicking on and off which gave me a fit last time.
Seats not comfy to sleep on though. You know people are trying to sleep? Make it ergonomic and serve purpose.

Should be 5 star but let down by details

Should be 5 star but let down by important things. Not a cheap trip so expect attention to detail. Lounge staff at both Euston and Waverley were excellent and we could use the lounge until boarding time. Trip from Euston had an extremely limited breakfast which is unacceptable on a luxury train like this. I had to make do with a bacon roll which I can buy at any burger van. In the old days (90's) the conductor would always bring you a cup of tea and that was a more downmarket service. Would be nice on this train, especially as I had a dog I was disqualified from using the lounge car despite paying a higher price than other passengers. I think they need more staff. I like these cars and the ensuites, easy too use, make a freshen up so easy and the bedding is quality. I was fine as on a short trip but others struggled with liuggage due to limited space. It is cheaper than driving and staying at hotels.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback following your journey with Caledonian Sleeper.

We’re really pleased to hear that you found our lounge teams at both Euston and Waverley excellent, and that you were able to make use of the lounges comfortably before departure. It’s also great to know you found the onboard cabins, en-suite facilities, and bedding to be of good quality and easy to use.

We’re sorry, however, that aspects of your journey fell short of expectations. We appreciate your comments regarding the breakfast offering and understand your disappointment with the limited selection available on this occasion. Your feedback will be shared with our catering team as we continue to review and develop our onboard service.

We also understand your frustration regarding access to the Club Car when travelling with a dog, and your wider comments around staffing levels and onboard service. While pets are welcome in specific accommodation areas for the comfort and safety of all guests, we recognise your concerns and will ensure these are considered as part of ongoing service reviews.

Finally, we appreciate your comments regarding luggage space and will continue to review how we can better support guests travelling with baggage.

Thank you again for your balanced feedback. We hope to welcome you onboard again in the future for an improved experience.

We’re pleased to hear that you found our staff lovely and helpful, and we’re sorry to learn about the issues you experienced onboard.

We’re particularly sorry for the technical problems you encountered with the onboard toilets, including the unit that stopped opening and the flushing issue you described. This is not the standard we expect, and we appreciate how inconvenient this would have been during your journey.

We also note your comments regarding the accessible room facilities and the difference in bin provision between journeys. Your feedback will be shared with the relevant teams for review to ensure consistency onboard.

Regarding the sleeping arrangements, the upper bunk is the same size as the lower bunk; however, we appreciate that the perception of space and ease of use—particularly access and headroom—can feel more restricted in the upper berth for some guests.

Thank you again for your comments, which help us improve our service.

Let’s face it

Let’s face it, no one actually likes the seated service but since the demise of the bargain berths (and whatever happened to the promised flatbeds?) it’s the only option. In that context the journey was as comfortable as it could be - except for what seemed nearly an hour standing on the platform at Edinburgh waiting for the carriages to couple. No catering so we got free hot drinks.

Cabin was very small

Cabin was very small. Smaller than I expected and, I would say, too small for 2 people to be comfortable.
Toilet was fine. Neither of us even attempted to use the shower. Very disappointing.
Train was over an hour late in arriving/boarding. It the lost a further hour overnight due to problems with another train. We received a textvat 6.30am, advising how to go about claiming for compensation for delays over 2 hours.
As this journey was part of our trip to Germany, involving several connections, we were extremely anxious that our entire trip would be ruined before we even reached London!!
Fifteen minutes later, our breakfasts arrived and we were advised that the train had made up the lost time and we would be arriving pretty much on schedule!! Needless stress and anxiety.
I don't think we'll be using this service again and would not be recommending it to others.

We’re sorry to hear that your recent journey with Caledonian Sleeper did not meet your expectations.

We appreciate your comments regarding the size of the cabin and understand that some guests may find the rooms compact when travelling with two people. Cabin dimensions and layouts are available on our website to help guests choose the accommodation option best suited to their needs, though we are sorry to hear the space did not feel comfortable for your journey.

We also apologise for the delays and the uncertainty caused during your overnight travel, particularly as you were continuing onward to Germany with multiple connections. We completely understand how stressful this must have felt, especially after receiving communication regarding potential compensation before confirmation that lost time had been recovered. However we do think keeping our guests informed of any potential delays are necessary, especially for guests like yourself who may have onward connections.

While we are pleased the service was ultimately able to make up time and arrive close to schedule, we appreciate that the disruption and anxiety caused had already impacted your experience.
