Absolute shocker
Absolute shocker. My Beko washing machine decided to give up the ghost but as I was covered by Smart Cover I thought I'd be ok. Sadly not the case. As I'd only been with them 5 months I had to pay the rest of the years premiums before they'd take any action. The engineer they sent out said it was beyond repair and a new one would need to be sorted. Total cost of new machine was £239. Total costs requested by Smart Cover (to cover premiums, delivery/ disposal and over limit claim charge (stung by the small print there I guess) £166. I don't think so. My local appliance shop price matches and delivers/removes old unit as part of the service. Lesson learnt.

Awful - I agree with the other comments and I should of paid a little more and gone with a reliable insurance company - I had a burst pipe and because it was outside and only water coming out when tap was put on they wouldn’t send someone out - also I waited over an hour for someone to pick up a call for the emergency and then got cut off - absolutely rubbish service - I am left out of pockets and feeling nothing but regret for going with the company - Absoutely AVOID - I hope this company goes bust!! Then they can’t rip anyone off anymore!!! Now considering taking the matter further….

Do I need to add to the other reasons listed by everyone else? Just avoid, pay a liitle more and go with a reputable company. You will save more in the long run.
Hidden charges, refusal to cover what is included in your cover, takes weeks to resolve anything, customer service are some of the least educated people I could imagine

Rip of insurance company, they are an absolute scam, at the time of claim they are saying I didn’t advise them I had an “American” fridge freezer. Firstly his was not a selectable option! Secondly I provided them with all the product details at the time of application and they did not advise any different. They are simply out there to rip you off at time of claim. They are asking me to pay £250 excess fee for a £225 toward the new product. Absolute scam avoid this company at all costs!

Avoid this company. Into double figures the amount of times I called or emailed them. Overseas call centre. Always pleasant, but reading from a script. I live about 40 miles from the Scottish border in NW England. They tried sending an engineer from the London area and then one who was based 2.5 hrs away. Strangely his van broke down. I eventually got the boiler serviced by an engineer about 10 miles from my home. All this took over 2 months to complete. My 5 year warranty on the boiler could be invalid because it passed it's annual inspection. Thank God I have not needed any emergency work carried out. Definitely avoid

If I could give zero star I would have. Absolute rubbish company. Paid for yearly central heating cover. Called for Engineer visit as boiler stopped working when returned from holiday last October. Engineer came said it was the pump which he couldn’t get as according to him it was obsolete, and told we needed a new boiler. Asked someone else to have a look and he said he could get a new pump and fitted it together with a diverter valve. I paid him out of my own pocket to get the boiler working. In March phoned Smart Cover to do our annual service and the boiler passed with flying colours, obviously proving the point that a pump had been fitted albeit not from them. However 2 weeks later had a leak from boiler. Called Company up to get it fixed. Engineer came didn’t fix it and said he would send report to Smart Cover. This was the end of March and up until today 19 April have heard nothing when they phoned to see if I wanted to renew my policy. As they have done nothing you can imagine my answer. I asked what the report said as I haven’t been told. Apparently the Engineer has told them although not us that he couldn’t fix it. We were having to just turn on water valve when needed and turn it off again.
I have today had a new boiler fitted and would never recommend this Company. Apparently they keep telephone messages so I am going to get in touch with the Omnibus people to state my dissatisfaction about having to fix the boiler independently, when they stated parts were obsolete, and they couldn’t be bothered to let me know what the engineer had said about the leak.

Many of us have made a bad decisions over time however Smart Cover was THE worst decision I made by joining them, I would not normally leave a review let alone a bad one however long story short no washing machine for 2 months, scripted reply back when you finally get through to a call center in India is “you will hear back from us in 24 to 48hrs” it’s been 8 weeks!

Chose this company without checking trust pilot which is unusual for me.
I've had the home cover for boiler care over 6mths. I phoned up over a month ago on the 18th Oct to arrange a boiler service included in the policy. I was told someone would call me back.
I waited & waited, then called them back on the 30th Oct only to be told that call would only happen after 30 days from the request.
I've emailed them & complained. I'm still waiting for that call back to arrange a boiler service. This is very poor service, nothing for what I've paid for.
I will not be renewing with them, as this isn't anywhere near the service I've paid for.

After being a customer for 5 years, and them knowing how old our boiler is the 1st time we tried to claim for a leak in our boiler it was declined as it was econimcally unviable on a boiler of that age even though they knew the age of the boiler from the beginning and had taken our money for the last 5 years

Having reported my washing machine is broken over 2 weeks ago I’m still awaiting a replacement. I know there has been Xmas break but there has still been 14 working days. Staff on phone helpful but keep telling me they will get it actioned quickly and I’m having to still chase every couple of days. Heading in to another weekend of where nothing will happen with the claim. Next time I won’t get insurance and just put the monthly payment to one side so I have the money to buy a new one.

This is not a good company to do business with. They are all over you like a rash when you sign up to a Home Emergency Policy, but when you try to make a claim on it, they are virtually impossible to contact by telephone, or on-line, and when you finally do make contact, they try every trick in the book to escape or deny responsibility. After a great deal of arguing over small print, I did finally get an appointment with an allocated plumber. This person proved to be worse than useless; - he was late in arriving, fiddled about not appearing to know what he was doing, and left me with promises that he would return the following week to effect the necessary full repairs to my toilet cistern. This promise turned out to be just empty lies; - he did not return, I still have a malfunctioning toilet facility, and the company
( Smartcover ) did not seem to be aware of what had transpired between us. They offered nothing more by means of a permanent repair, passed me around from one department to another, failed to respond to my e-mails, and overall afforded me very poor Customer Service. I will NEVER use this company again; - my advice, - do not waste your money with them, - look elsewhere for a decent policy, as I have now done !
