Account was setup for auto pay but I received a 74 point hit to my credit score because they reported it wasn't paid. When I called their customer service was awful and the lied that they would report it fixed. I had to file dispute with bureaus to resolve. Awful company!

Horrible Company

I rarely write negative reviews — I depend on them myself — but this company absolutely earned it. Every person I dealt with sounded miserable, like they hated their job, their customers, and the very idea of helping anyone. The service was apathetic at best and hostile at worst.

I’d honestly prefer to deal with the mafia — at least they’re straightforward about what kind of experience you’re signing up for.

Do yourself a favor: go anywhere else!

Predatory Loan Practices

Always trying to upsell. Constantly being told I need new crowns for perfectly intact teeth. Then they push their predatory 0% interest payment plan. Heads up, if you don't pay it off in full in 18 months, they tack on 18 months of interest to your outstanding balance. No ifs, ands, or buts. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I think the dental care is good but the way they make up the charges even when I'm on a dental plan is outrageous. My Delta Dental plan has fixed prices for procedures and they go over those by hundreds of dollars. Tooth crown 600+ over the plan so I didn't have it done. They came down 300 but still 300 over..

Poor preparation for a scheduled appointment

Arriving early for a scheduled appointment / surgery, and after checking in and paying for the service, they made us wait in their lobby for over 45 minutes before being taken for surgery. This show how unprepared they are for us. When I asked why, their response was unapologetic.

Totally ridiculous

Totally ridiculous, never received my reminder email. Definitely got one for being late. Pay way above the monthly payment. Have not ever been late. Called to get refunded, she said as a one time courtesy, they would give me $15. What the hell is with that. I’ve never had a credit card do this, EVER. Do not trust Smiles Credit card. Besides the fact I got taken by the dentist and charged my insurance, without my permission.

How to steal from customers and feel good.

What people are saying here about how bad Smile Generation are all true!! Yes, they have up to 50% discount on services only after they double the original price. ie crown discount price is $1,500 from original price of $2,500 ! No dentist has the 'original price' that high which totally negates the discount. DUH...
We are not that stupid SG !

Predatory

Predatory. Whereas most websites are easy to make auto payments, theirs was horribly difficult to navigate. Don’t make mistakes or they will find ways to take more money from you.

If I could give this card service a 0 star I would. Worst card ever, their late fees are ridiculous they do not care if you paid off your balance and were late a day on doing so and charge $52 just for it and won’t credit any money back … insane!

VERY BAD SYSTEM

Their promotions system is definitely bad, as well as the communication with customers.

I had the worst experience of my life with a credit service, I am desperate to finish the payments to cancel this card. Despite having paid monthly, WITHOUT FAULT, well over double the minimum payment, I was charged over TWO THO THOUSAND DOLLARS IN INTEREST!!!!!.

THE EXPLANATION: The money that is deposited monthly, is distributed among the active promotions instead of assigning the money directly to the promotion that is going to expire, which means that you never get to pay the expiring promotion, resulting in a case like mine.

In order for the money to be allocated specifically to the promotion you want, you must call SPECIFICALLY THE DAY YOUR MONTH IS EXPIRED BEFORE 5PM and this way the money is distributed as you want based on the expirations of promotions.

I would not recommend this credit service EVER!!!! And I will do my best to make this message as viral as I can.

Don't do it

Never apply for this credit card I had to use it to get my son's teeth done back when I was making minimum wage. The interest rate is 39.99% and we have been making payments on a bill for over 5 years that was originally about $2,000. I called to try to work something out because after 5-6 years of payments that bill should be well overpaid. The amount owed is still $1400 after all that time. This company obviously takes advantage of people who are not financially literate. The minimum payment is less than the interest so if you don't know any better they will cheat you out of way more money.

Do not get a credit card through smile…

Do not get a credit card through smile generation (Comenity Capital Bank) is super shady with the payments and if you’re late by a day or 2 they won’t do a one time late fee forgiveness. They can charge up to $45 in late fees and only take off $15. I’ve always made payments on time and been paying more then the minimum for them not to have a one time grace period. Definitely does not value loyal paying customers. Make sure you make all your payments on the due date to not have any issues.

I had an account through Smile…

I had an account through Smile Generation/Comenity Bank and was charged $865 in interest after being enrolled in a deferred plan I wasn’t clearly warned about. They pressured me into paperless statements by threatening a $2.99 fee, and never clearly alerted me that a large interest charge would hit if I didn’t pay the balance by a certain date. I tried escalating this through CFPB but received no meaningful resolution. Customer service is unresponsive. Be careful with these promotions.

Stay away. Deceiving company and after all your $

What a disgusting company. Paid my final balance by phone with an agent and got a confirmation number. Get the statement 3 weeks later and they applied $2500 interest, because the payment was stopped by my bank's fraud dept. because Comenity entered a wrong zipcode. Neither the bank nor Comenity/Smile Generation bothered to let me know before the promo period expired. Tried to fight it w/ letters and had proof, but to no avail. After their 5 day investigation they closed the case and report you to credit bureaus unless you pay. They look for every opportunity and will cheat to get your money and charge you interest. They will also tell you repeatedly that it takes $200 monthly payments to pay off your $6000 balance in 18 months. That math is not correct and they know it. Stay away!

Checked in at the front desk and was originally going to be charged $80. Questioned why $80 when previous cleanings were just $40. After insisting on just a cleaning I ended up paying $38.
Then retroactive to the visit I am billed an additional $40 for D4999 antibacterial or antimicrobial irrigation along with periodontal surgical procedures. Question if this was really peformed and, if so, why was it done without my knowledge.
Googled this: Clients and audience members are reporting that although they are billing it, the amount of reimbursement is negligible. Delta Dental of most states is not reimbursing for it and is requiring the charges to be written off. In those cases it is considered part of the primary procedure (much like pulp caps for fillings).
Assess the charge if applicable but always let the patient know that it may not be covered.

LOOK FOR OTHER OPTIONS

It took almost 2 months to get my card to be able to set up my account and that was after my first payment was due. Customer support is okay but that’s if you can get ahold of them. The website is super buggy and apparently didn’t log my account information when I submitted my 2nd payment, now I’m getting hit by a late fee and got zero notice about anything until a week after the fact. Only got this horrible plan because I was in a pinch and deeply regret it now. My fault for signing my name. Don’t make the same mistake, find other options cause this isn’t the one.

Nov 2022 didn’t know I had 12 months. Been waiting three years to take and just found out case was sealed

Dr Bushong completely ruined my teeth doing osseous surgery at another location. My insurance actually denied the claim due to lack of perio charting. According to the paperwork, I was given, there was not a full perio charting that took place. There was no dental plan in place, no idea what was going to happen to my gums or teeth, no idea that I was going to have to have implants or fake teeth immediately. It has been a complete nightmare and I'm already on $10,000 worth of implants for just one side. Stay completely away from him.

Don't get this smile generation credit…

Don't get this smile generation credit card. They only let u do online banking payments. I wanted to do 1 year payment plan but the dentist place don't offer that. They only offer 4 increments payment. It was expensive so I apply to finance not knowing smile was a credit card for dental only. The desk lady said I could use my hsa card to do payments for smile generation while they pay for my services. Now I can't even do that. Stay away guys!
