Extremely poor customer support from Smiths News. Despite my account being paid every Friday without fail, my newspaper delivery was not made. When I contacted Customer Care, I was incorrectly told payment had not been received, so I paid again to avoid disruption to my business.
After confirming payment, I was told no driver was available and that I would need to collect the papers myself. When I asked for the collection address, I was put on hold for around 15 minutes, then told the address could not be provided and advised to “Google it” myself. The call was then ended abruptly without resolution.
This demonstrates a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service. As a reliable business customer who depends on timely deliveries, this level of support is unacceptable. I would not recommend Smiths News based on this experience.

This is the most ridiculous supply company I have dealt with in all my years of business, one department advises one thing another department doesn’t even know what’s going on you call up log a complaint you get an email to say the issues will be resolved on 24-48hrs over a week we had no response, 1 week later having further issues they provide you with reference numbers but when you call to discuss the reference numbers that they don’t even know what they are for the people you speak to don’t have good communication skills they literally don’t know how to communicate at all there customer care line is even worse its a bloody shambles I spoke with there customer care line spoke with Ashu no this guy really hasn’t got the faintest of how a business runs all he kept saying I’ve raised the issue I’ve raised the issue nor does this help in any way I’m thinking to either change supplier if there is one we don’t make anything on newspapers anyhow I may even just buy them from the supermarket in the mornings

This is an awful company who consistently fail to deliver magazines to my newsagents in Westhoughton, Bolton. Thus their customers are let down through no fault of their own. Smiths do not seem to care. Sadly they have a monopoly but do not seem to have any regard for customers.

The shared service sits in India who have no clue what's happening and all they give is a reference number. They never able to get in touch with the depot. Dictatorship

When you complain you receive automated email saying that, your complain will resolve in 48 hours. (That's the last communication you get). They don't care about your complain. It's a dictatorship.
Terrible company with no communication
Terrible company with no communication. We had no delivery today. Had to send all our deliverer's home after waiting over a hour. Lost loads of custom due to no papers! Finally arrived at 11.40am. What a joke…& all you get is a reference number. We’d have collected them ourselves if they had told us what was going on, but all you get is fobbed off!

I have been working for Smiths on and off for 20 years,In the last 15 years I have worked of Metro who have given the contract to Smiths News, constantly they have been cutting the money, fuel has gone up over the last 15 years and I was still getting paid £500 a week with all expenses paid from me and supplying a new Van, I have been reliable helping Smiths from moving from Broxbourene(N.I) to Luton,(Mail)Thurrock and now they are moving back to Broxborne This time because I have become Ill with my Hip and had the round covered they didnt renew my contract and gave the same contract to a contractor who has multiple rounds, I have never been absent or late ,They seem to give the contracts to their friends, The Manager was trying to get rid of me from the beginning as these words were muttered to me, Yeah you can look after me, No Pension, No sick Pay and nothing to fall back on because Im sick, Thanks Smiths News
