30 minutes+ wait
30 minutes+ wait, still no rep. Very poor service. 3 therm increase from regular, yet double payment bill. 3 therms. Doubling the bill?
if there was a "0" rating.....
if there was a "0" rating, I would give it. their message says that there is no rep to take your call they don't tell you to stay on the line and wait to give your phone number to be called back within 2 hours. they finally called back after an hour of waiting and the call was cut off. I had to schedule another call. so basically I waited all afternoon waiting to talk with a customer rep. their online site has absolutely no option to pay any less than the amount now due, regardless of my inability to pay the full amount. their options are all about payment. "Payment management, pay by auto-deduct, etc. They only care about taking your $, not customer satisfaction. there is never a person to speak with. when I finally got the call back, it took another 30 minutes to sort out the problem. they had charged me 688.11 (for a 2 bedrm apt) even though I'm on a level pay plan. The transaction went through immediately, unbeknownst to me, with no option to pay other than the amount due. There was no confirmation given after I did it and no way to cancel it. I had to stop payment at my bank to make sure they didn't charge it that day. Otherwise, it would've left me unable to pay and with NSF fees. In short, I would be broke! Do they give a #$%? Nope. In other words, the CEOs are thieves who care nothing about the people they serve. Welcome to the tech age. Good luck with your experience with them. Wish there was another provider, but they have the monopoly for now.
The worst company
The worst company! You cant reach anyone on the phone, and in my opinion they are price gauging no way my bill went from 38.00 per month to 200!
I'm going to report them
The gouging of customers is at an all-time high.
The amount of money SoCal gas is charging for utilities is outrageous. Prices have escalated to the point where even if the usage is the same, the bills are five times higher than the previous month. In corrupt Los Angeles where the evil LA City Council and LA County Supervisors are working very hard to put landlords out of business (even though they manage to line their own pockets), it would appear that the utility companies are in bed with the corruption.

Socalgas employee came to our house to turn on the gas. Excellent job, he pointed out all the possible problems we could have and how to fix them. He took his time and checked all outlets for leaks. He started all our gas appliances. We can’t say how appreciative we are of his attitude and work.
So Cal Gas is buying gas from Sempra…
So Cal Gas is buying gas from Sempra (parent company) at an inflated price and ripping off their customers. Sempra is selling American gas to Europe and jacking Americans, where is the investigation for price gouging!
Socal and so-called service is the…
Socal’s so-called service is the worst “service” ever!
Doesn’t even resemble anything close to service. Bordering inhumane. I am so disgusted!
My daughter moved in to an apt and set up an appointment for them to transfer service and they arrived at the gate didn’t call her to say we are here.. didn’t go to the office. Or could have followed someone in the gate as many come and go at that hour.
They just left! She called when nobody arrive or called
Her and they said they were there but couldn’t get in so we left!!!
Reschedule after the holiday we are busy they didn’t care or even act apologetic for their error said they weren’t required to call…What on earth? Horrible inconsiderate not even going to bother to contact you or try to be there for our appointment She put the day aside to be there She was waiting.
No way for her to know your there if you don’t call. Now She has no way to bake holiday treats or make our Christmas dinner!! Christmas holiday cancelled thanks to socals so called service. No heat for you either!
Called and they said oh well we are busy. Worst service Ever!! Cold heartless and completely incompetent people going to make so called “SERVICE” calls!!
The only reason they are in business is the customer has no choice but to choose them!! If there was a competitor everyone would be using them! It shows in there attitude.
The person I spoke to in customer” service” was just as cold and heartless it seems to be their theme.
Take whatever we give we don’t care you have no choice but to use the service we decide to provide you!
Well this is not the end it’s going on my blog and I will be reporting this horrendous incident. I have never heard of worse service from a provider.
There needs to be reasonable service when people have to use your vital service or you shouldn’t be the one providing it!
Have you ever seen someone who is…
Have you ever seen someone who is really rude but pretend to be polite? The representative of socal customer service is. Horrible.
Socalgas has the worst login/bill pay…
Socalgas has the worst login/bill pay system.
I enter my bank account but their system says it is invalid. And, yes, I am positive it is entered correctly, twice!
Very difficult to reach a human operator. Long wait on the phone. No option to pay as guest (compare Waste Management). Nor an option to pay with credit. As soon as you start a screen comes up to ask for bank info. You cannot leave a number to get a call back.
I think thier CEO should resign,
Thievery Disguised as Business
I have paid my bills on time in full for all 2 years I've had SoCalGas. Recently, I was moving some money around, as I was in between jobs, and my online payment went through at a time when I didn't have enough funds in the account, so SoCalGas charged me with an insufficient funds fee. I had not missed the payment due date. I simply tried to pay early with insufficient funds in my account. Frustrated, I called SoCalGas customer service, asking if they could grant a refund for this charge, or apply the amount to a future bill. After multiple phone calls to representatives and supervisors, all of them said they could do nothing about it. I had no recourse. It is extremely frustrating to get hit with a fee from a company which has a monopoly. One can do nothing. It feels like being robbed. This is thievery disguised as business.
BETTER CHECK YOUR BILL TO BE SURE YOU AREN'T PAYING FOR A BILL YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID
I received my monthly bill which I thought seemed high. So instead of just paying it I looked at my payment history. I found that they had applied a small credit for a bill I had paid about 2 months earlier. Then the one I paid, through my bank, had not been credited. I went to my bank and they showed the check was sent, but had not been deposited. This was a check for $61.91. So I subtracted that from my bill of $168.10 and paid them $106.19. My problem is this has happened twice to me recently. If SoCalGas is doing this to other people who look at their email bill and just pay it, they are collecting extra money for the previous bill along with the current bill because they are holding a check they have not deposited. Then if they deposit this check after you have paid the bill they sent you for the current month (which include past bill) then they are holding an extra $61.91 that they have charged you for twice. If they do this to a lot of other customers, they are holding a lot of money that they should not be holding. THIS IS NOT RIGHT!!! When you receive you bill on line, you only see the amount and date it is due and that is what a lot of people pay, where if they end up going on line and viewing their bill they will find that they have already paid part of this bill but has not been deposited by the gas company until after you pay the amount they sent you which includes the amount you have already paid but is included in the new bill again. If they do this to a lot of customers, they are holding a lot of money they should not be holding.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
I HAD APPOINTMENT BETWEEN 7 AM - 12 PM FOR A NEW METER WITH REQUEST FOR CALL. NO CALL PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. TECHNICIAN LEFT BEFORE JOB WAS COMPLETE AND I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO WAIT FOR RETURN WITH NO - NO EXPECTATION OF RETURN FOR COMPLETION. VALENCIA IN HUB TOLD ME I SHOULD WAIT UNTIL 8 PM WHEN TECHICIANS ARE OUT IN THE FIELD. ABSURB- HORRIBLE PERSONAL CUSTOMER "SERVICE" - IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - THEY HOLD YOU HOSTAGE AND THEY EXPECT YOU TO SIT AND WAIT IN CONSTRUCTION SITE WITHOUT REGARD FOR YOUR TIME
I am paying for gas I’m not using
I am getting charged for gas I am not using. My apartment was vacant for a month with nothing turned on or running. I was charged for using about 1 therm per day which is impossible. There is no one I can talk to in customer service about the issue.
Paying for their mistakes, yes, it is plural
We moved and asked for the gas to be shut off, obviously, of which they have record. They did not turn it off for a month and then cause of covid, they said they refused to shut off service and our home, for sale and vacant, got charged for gas service. Apparently they notified us of this by placing a tag on the meter (realtor never saw a tag, likely it blew away in a spring storm), SW even though they had our contact info as well. 6 months later, we asked for the service to be turned on and off all in one day so an inspector could verify the gas service worked properly. They have record of us asking to have it shut off afterwards and again did not turn it off. Finally it was shut off when new owners took ownership and so now we supposedly owe hundreds of dollars for their negligence. Sadly it is a monopoly so you cannot get gas service elsewhere.
I contacted the gas company and spoke…With Mr pena
I contacted the gas company and spoke to a young man named Mr Pena that said I couldn't speak to anyone else but him unless i filed a complaint. After listening to him tell me the customer service department didn't know what they were doing (basically it's not my job) He filed it for me and said i would get a call Monday no later than Tuesday. Now it's Friday. No call or message. He said I will get a citation. Nobody has spoke to me the home owner or left a name or contact information. They just come and put a tag on my house and leave. Then one day they talk to my son when he was over and left. He isn't an electrician he's an office worker. So I don't have a clue. I am the home owner. If I don't get a response soon I will make sure I share on the internet and news. I'm sure I'm not the first one to experience this laziness and lazy attitudes. This is not how so cal gas has done business for years. My mother worked the the gas co in riverside about 65 years ago. She was the bookkeeper. Yes THE bookkeeper back when one person kept the books with pen and paper. This so sad. And on top of everything because we are in a pandemic I can't go talk to. Person. You'd think they would try a little harder. Jobs are gold right now.
I used Billmatrix to pay my SoCalGas…
I used Billmatrix to pay my SoCalGas Bill... entered my acct# and paid with my EDD debit card. Billmatrix applied the money to a different acct "probably bogus". When I contacted SoCalGas they gave me the runaround with phone number that does not answer with a live person.
I sent 3 emails to SoCalGas... no response
Just got ripped off my a Billmatrix Scam probably.
Too Stressed to deal with a $50

YOUR HOME ENERGY UPDATE - TOTALLY USELESS IF YOU HAVE A POOL !!!
I CALLED TO GET INFORMATION ABOUT THE HOME ENERGY UPDATE I RECEIVED THAT COMPARES OUR GAS USEAGE TO THAT OF A "COMPARABLE HOME".
Mine was more than twice the "comparable" and I wanted to learn why.
The first question I asked was " I have a swimming pool with a gas heater, just as tens of thousands of your California customers do. Do the comparison numbers include that crucial gas useage???"
Duhhhh., no they don't and they don't have any numbers of similar homes that do have pools. I called SoCal customer service and they not only didn't have any more info on homes with pools, nor were they the slightest bit interested in even passing that along to whatever SoCal Executive Manager who might be "in charge" of this valuable program!
What a total waste of our time, and their money ( all built into our gas rates of course!
Safety as their lowest priority
When asking for safety check on an essential appliance that was deemed potentially hazardous, I was told I would have to wait for at least 3 weeks to have it checked. That would be 3 weeks without heat in the winter. They told me that I could just use it anyways till then and take the risk. It is absurd to me that a company would put such a low premium on the health and well-being of their customers.
Wonderful Work and Quick Response
There was a gas odor near my gas meter so I immediately called The Gas company to report it. Since this is an emergency case of gas leak, I was connected to an operator, and she informed me that the technician will be at my house within 4 hours time frame. To my surprise, a technician named Najeeb showed up at my house within 30 minutes. Wow. Talk about quick. He was very nice, friendly and attentive. After showing him the area where my gas meter is, Najeeb fixed the problem quickly. He also informed me that he did thoroughly check the WHOLE house to make sure there was no leak anywhere. He also asked me to inspect the area that he just worked on. Wow. He painted my meter like new. He also cleaned the area around the gas meter spotless. Lol.
I thanked him for his wonderful work. Najeeb is an asset to The Gas Company. His professionalism and dedication is greatly appreciated.
TRUST NOBODY!!!
First of all, my stove was not hooked up correctly by their employee, and it would have resulted in an explosion had another person NOT caught It! That is very serious. Then they charge you a fee to pay with credit cards, and probably debit cards too, just like So-Cal Edison. Shame on them too. So Cal Gas has a ridiculously long time frame for appointments, meaning they come out between , say, 9 AM until 8 PM. Then the crazy lady employee asks me if I want to leave a key under the doormat?!!! Really? In this day, and age? I do NOT even know these people they send out, and keys under doormat are easily discovered by anybody at all. Only a total nut, and fool would leave keys for perfect strangers. I know of a few people who were ripped off by Gas Company employees, and Edison as well. Absolutely nothing was done about it, and the Pasadena, Calif. Victim, Julia Robinson, was quite upset, as was I, because I was there when it happened. The man told us to go outside, and wait, as he rifled through her purse, and whatever else. She was stolen from, and had I kept my purse inside her place, unattended, that would have been very bad for me as well. I had a very bad feeling, and there was NOT any legitimate reason for us to wait outside. We were plain stupid, and he was only there, supposedly, to change her light bulbs on the ceiling. TRUST NOBODY, ASK QUESTIONS, BE ASSERTIVE, or even AGGRESSIVE, and carry protection for self defense.
