I have telephoned now 4 times & still no refund

I have telephoned now 4 times. The 1st was on 11th November 2020 asking for a refund of £32.88. The original payment of which I knew nothing about. I was informed that the refund would be processes straight away and in my bank within 7 days.
The 23rd November I telephoned again as I had not received any refund. I was told the original refund had not been processed until after 12pm on the 11th November so I would have to wait until midnight. If it till wasn't received I should contact Social identity again the following day.
24th Nov I have spoke to a gentleman who told me the refund had been issued and cleared. It has not. He informed me it was already past the refund date now?!?! I told him what i had been told the day before and he suggested I should get my bank to contact Social Identity. My bank said they were unable to do that due to data protection and have given me a copy of my transactions for the month of November. I have telephoned again and spoken to the same gentleman who said my bank were wrong but gave me an email to forward the statements to. Apparently I will be contacted in 24 hours. I'm not holding my breath

If you're here, you've probably already been charged

[updated at end] Baited into their service by infinityloans who give them your bank details and charge you even if you decline the service. I have rung up and requested a refund and sub cancellation, the gentleman at the other end processed this quickly and politely, waiting to see if it works. Was charged £1 to validate my identity by infinity loans to which I agreed and then offered some vague service to which I declined, an additional £32.88 was charged to my card frustratingly.

[update]
Have received refund cleared back into my account after just 1 day of asking so I guess that's good, if I receive another charge or anything alike I'll update this review again.

FRAUDSTERS, THIEVES, SCAM

While applying for a short term loan the services of social.identity.co.uk were offered to me. I specifically selected I was not interested in signing up for their service yet they have debited £32.88 from my account. I was entering my card detail for the identity check for loan application and did not authorise these people go take my money. Just called to claim it back and got the impression it’s a regular thing. Waiting to see if it returns.
