Aaron came to my home for a 1:1 session and was very down to earth and realistic with what we can implement to get our dogs to thrive. Aaron took time with my blind old lady beagle who he wasn’t there... See more

Fantastic
Fantastic training session with Aaron we picked up plenty of tips to take away and work on. Aaron was very informative and explained everything in a way that actually made sense for once. we definitely felt like we knew what we needed to do and left feeling more positive than we had ever previously felt after using other trainers in the past. Will 100% recommend Aaron and SDT to anyone in the future honestly wish I’d discovered them earlier.
Transformational!
Adam and the team at Southend Dog Training changed the way I connected with my dog. I was in unchartered territory with an Amstaff Covid puppy that my then 21 year-old son brought home after being laid-off from work. Inexperienced and unable to access training for four months due to lockdowns, I had listened to the advice of other well-meaning dog owners about what to do. That was my first mistake!
The second was taking her to off-leash parks to ‘socialise’ where she learned domination was the way to play.
The third mistake was thinking other ‘cute’ dogs (anything with ‘oodle and ‘zu’ in it’s breed) were harmless and my dog was the problem when the owners of ‘cute’ let their dog run up to mine uninvited. Like me if a total stranger ran up to my face, she had the same response - she reacted.
Like all staffies, she loooves people, will roll over for a toddler to pat her, but let a fluffy little poodle come up to her and she growls like Cujo! She pulled like a freight train on walks and generally the first three years were 90% pleasure but the 10% of pain on walks felt overwhelming. One day, I came across Adam’s video on lead walking on FB. That was the start of my education. I soon subscribed because every time I saw a video, it was like divine intervention with expletives!
Being in Sydney, Australia, Adam’s videos and reels turned my world around. My dog was not the problem…I was! She knew I lacked confidence around other dogs and picked up on my vibe. Her ’job’ was to step in and take control so she ‘protected’ me from them. I hadn’t taught her walking etiquette so she free-ranged on the lead. That was where we started. And off-leash dog parks…they’re the equivalent of a nuclear waste ground. We don’t go there!
Having just turned six, I have a completely different relationship with Lexi. It’s taken me three solid years but I understand her so much more than I did at the beginning. Every day is training day…for me! Like children, there’s no such thing as a bad dog. Lexi has never been anything other than a beautiful, loving, affectionate dog but like many Amstaffs, she has power and enthusiasm in abundance so others see her as a killer. Until they meet her! I’ve met more aggressive cavoodles than staffies!
Lexi has taught me so much BUT…I could not have done it without Adam and SDT, who gave me the tools and confidence to learn how to advocate for my dog.
I have shared SDT with many dog owners on my walks and will continue to do so. Thanks Adam for helping me to be a better dog parent to Lexi. You have made a difference to us and continue to make a difference to others around the world. You should be very proud.
Amazing service
I can’t recommend Aaron enough !
He was full of knowledge and gave me lots of advice regarding our bulldog that we have recently rehomed.
He really took his time to explain things in detail, and I’m looking forward to putting his suggestions/advice in place.
Thanks SDT for this mornings training

this is my second time in a few months…
this is my second time in a few months to see adam and i couldn’t be more happier. i thought i had a very stubborn dog that was testing me, turns out i was the problem and adam showed me where i was going wrong and how to fix it and wow what a difference it made from the off, i would highly recommend adam to anyone, thanks again
Our session was with Aaron and words…
Our session was with Aaron and words are just not enough to express our gratitude. We spent 2 hours learning, asking and walking away feeling a lot confident then we were before we got there. He listened to our concerns and addressed each concern attentively. Really was the best decision visiting Southend training. Really excited to be walking Pabs with my new found confidence due to Aaron
Great communication with Gemma and…
Great communication with Gemma and getting booked in, 2x dogs trained with Aaron who was very professional with our dogs and gave us good advice to take home to continue their training.
Trainer Adam so helpful
Trainer Adam so helpful nothing is to much trouble really good advice so my dog Duke and I enjoyed the session very much and came away feeling so confident many thanks for a wonderful experience
Absolutely amazing dog trainer - the best!
Absolutely amazing dog trainer. I have 2 elderly staffies who were easy enough to train, I’ve had dogs as a child and always got involved with training so these two weren’t anything difficult. In the last year I was given a boxer cross (I think) puppy, he wasn’t responding to any training and honestly was a nightmare. Following through Adam’s videos has massively helped and now I have a young dog that listens 85% of the time. We’re still working through him being so easily distracted by every little thing, but he’s improving day by day! I watch the videos for fun and tips nearly everyday.
If your want a trainer who says it as it is, cares more for the dogs welfare and needs than their owners, who isn’t going to give up on any dog. This is your guy. I can’t recommend highly enough and only wish I lived close enough to go visit in person!
AMAZING – gamechanger!
We had a first, 2-hour training session with our large Rottweiler today. He is extremely reactive to other dogs.
The important bit first, coffee with Adam, to discuss our dog and issues. Basically, we can’t take our dog out if other dogs are likely to be about. So, we take him walking around car parks and industrial estates late at night, where other dogs are unlikely to be. We dreaded every single walk.
Adam watched us walk our dog with another trainer and their dog nearby. Ours was immediately barking and pulling us to the other dog.
Adam changed the type of lead and collar we were using and showed us how to predict and reactive to our dog’s reactive behaviour. More importantly, he showed us how we should be around our own dog, in terms of our confidence and attitude to potential reactive situations.
Within the second hour, our dog was walking in between two trainer’s dogs and sitting chilling on the outside decking of the training centre, with a trainer’s dog sat within feet of ours.
Our dog’s behaviour has completely changed in just a 2-hour session with Adam. It’s a gamechanger for us, and we can now look forward to walking him.
BIG Thank you Southend Dog Training!
Home visit
The whole experience has been made so easy. From booking the appointment to having the home visit was stress free. The home visit was brilliant, so much information available, I was able to talk through all my concerns and was given advice for all of them. Aaron was friendly and so knowledgeable. Thank you
10/10, so insightful & beneficial
Such a lovely experience. We went there feeling a bit unsure about how to improve our dog’s behaviour and came out of the session feeling extremely hopeful and optimistic. Aaron was amazing, he made sure my dog was completely comfortable whilst also pushing him a little outside his comfort zone. Toward the end of the session, he had our dog behaving in a way we could’ve only dreamt of. He gave us amazing information on our to keep this behaviour going & we feel extremely hopeful that my dogs reactivity is going to be solved! Thanks so much Aaron!
We adopted a 15 month old Cocker…
We adopted a 15 month old Cocker Spaniel who demonstrated some challenging behaviours. We sought the assistance of SDT who arranged a home visit with their Aaron Rodgers. He was absolutely brilliant, we couldn’t recommend him more highly. He reassured us with the things we were doing correctly, was not judgemental where we were doing things incorrectly, and provided us with excellent strategies to improve the training. 100% recommendation from us
As a dog walker
As a dog walker, I watch Adam and have done for a long time. The advice is incredible and as a family of pet and working dog owners for decades, the advice is spot on. You cant do more for your dog than watch Adam, and also his generosity to show you countless free video advice. Now an app ( some paid, but very reasonable). Fantastic !
We had a 1-1 with Aaron for our German…
We had a 1-1 with Aaron for our German shepherd puppy who is very reactive outside. He helped us understand that this was excitement, wanting to play with other dogs and not aggression. He gave us a plan of what to do and where to start with her. It’s not going to be a quick fix but we now have a starting point and feel confident that we’re doing the right thing. Highly recommend!
Fees and customer service
The organization of videos seems random and isn't intuitive. I can't unsubscribe before being charged after my free trial. I've tried to find a way to contact someone, but I can't find a way. I will have to stop payment with my card after the fee is taken. Very frustrating.
Great training session today
Great training session today, absolute first class, they understand the dog, the owner and what you want to achieve unlike many others that have one training technique that is forced onto the subject. Nothing is forced, everything is relaxed and it works. Their training is adaptive to the individual needs not a standard that many use for all dogs. Brilliant
Couldn’t recommend Aaron enough
Couldn’t recommend Aaron enough, had a training session for my dog Dave to help with his reactivity and lead walking. Within the session I felt like we have achieved so much! And feel like we have both benefited from it and am looking forward to putting the training to use. Couldn’t thank him enough!
A brilliant experience!
I had an amazing first session with Aaron from Southend Dog Training! We spent so much time discussing how I could effectively train my pup and I’ve walked away from that session with so much more knowledge and confidence! 10/10 experience. Would highly recommend!
