Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers frequently praise the platform for its social media features, highlighting the ability to connect with others and make new friends. Many appreciate the extensive customization options available for profiles, allowing for unique self-expression. The website's design and user experience are often commended for their nostalgic feel, reminiscent of older social media platforms, and for being a less addictive alternative to modern social media. However, some customers also noted occasional issues with the website's stability, mentioning that it can be slow or go down periodically. A few people were dissatisfied with the moderation, citing concerns about seemingly arbitrary account suspensions without clear explanations and a lack of a strike system. There were also mentions of a small number of users engaging in inappropriate behavior, and a desire for better filtering options for content.

It is what it says it is.

It wears itself on it's sleave - it's a throwback to a very specific thing, but at a much smaller scale. This does mean it has many of the same problems. Social danger is probably higher on it than facebook and only kept in check by a small team of moderators, but whether or not that could be circumvented without tainting the experience is not a question the site staff are equipped to seek an answer to. Where the safety is improved over the original is in malware - JS scripts are just about the only thing you can't put on your profile so no malicious code execution, at least nowhere near as easily.

I really like this site

I really like this site. A friend recommended me this site and I have no intention of leaving. Everyone is really nice and it's great to have a place that doesn't use your data to sell you crap.

Spacehey is the Greatest!

I've been a member of Spacehey for three years now and it's my only social media. The one rule, "Be Nice", is really followed! Amazing!
There is a big variety of users as well, so you'll be sure to find someone you click with. Very Highly Recommended!

Good site, needs MAJOR improvement

I first used this site in around mid 2022. After having deleted my old account, I couldn't help but come back to the site. I think what attracted me to the site was the fact that it was basically just MySpace 2, or MySpace but better. The profile customisation is really nice and seeing many alternative people (scene, emo, alt, 2000s, etc.) come to the site is also a breath of fresh air. It almost feels like we're back in the early-mid-to-late 2000s again. The fact that the site has essentially remained an indie site and has stood for about five years with no C&D (Cease & Desist) from MySpace is also very admirable.

That said... not everything about this site is good.

The amount of drama I've seen on this site and the constant call-out posts on the blogs section of the site makes me feel like I'm back on Twitter during the whole call-out culture/#[name]IsOverParty era. I don't like seeing those posts because they always make it to the top of the blogs page and make me believe that the people posting them are desperate for attention because they were to deprived of it before coming onto the site.

I doubt the site's founder will read my review, but in the event that they do, I'd like to propose some sort of drama tag and a way to filter tags so people like me don't have to see constant drama over and over again. It's not disheartening to see drama on the site and it's also not disheartening to see drama posts on the site, any site is going to have drama. It's just really annoying that the people making the drama blogs get on the top of the blogs page instantly.

its neat!

I think spacehey is really fun, love how customizable the profiles are and stuff! its just a shame that some features havent been available for ages now (like posting layouts or advanced user search) and that the site goes down pretty often, but with how small the team running it is its pretty understandable

It's a pretty good site

It's a pretty good site. It has a lot of great features, a decent community, and (nearly) limitless profile customization options. If you have some HTML/CSS knowledge, the sky's the limit for customization. There are a few bad apples in the community (and one decent-sized incident), but it's nothing huge. If I had to choose my favorite function, it would have to be diaries. It's a good place to get my thoughts down and let my emotions out without sharing them. I've never been one to use social media for its main purpose, socializing, but here on SpaceHey, I've interacted with others way more than I have on other things like Instagram, Facebook, or Snapchat.

Do you miss MySpace? Then SpaceHey is the perfect social network for you, even tho its a little bit more modern, its exacly the same, the users have the same attitude as in MySpace, there are cool layouts, and even you can make friends :D

(There are even people that speak spanish, that isn't seen in much places)

100% recommended (specially for people that like the old internet)

I love it here

Wow, where do I even start. Say goodbye to the endless scroll! Are you tired of the endless garage if AI slop, corporate ads, and privacy violating trackers? Are you ready to take a break from the slot machine-style social media machines built to exploit you, your data, and your wallet? Then Spacehey is the place for you.

This website is a throwback meant to resemble Myspace around 2005. It prioritizes a kind of microblog that automatically deletes after a week or so called a bulletin. It also features, like Myspace, a beautiful, full HTML profile page that you can customize. It has forums, as well as groups, and a fully HTML blog system. This is a social media platform that favors text over all else.

When using Spacehey it's important to remember that this is a fan project. It's funded by donations and as such it is not as fast as other social media websites. There will occasionally be periods where the site does not function quite as well as you'd like it to. This is definitely a bug however, with a little bit of framing it can be a feature. When Spacehey isn't working well, I log off.

One of my primary reasons to join Spacehey was to kick my Facebook addiction. I had been on Facebook for such a long time that I couldn't imagine life without it. I said, "I'll try it for a month, and if I can get through a month then I can delete my Facebook account." As a result I'm happier, spend less time on social media in general, and better control how I see and interact with the internet.

Thank you, Spacehey!

Great website, but needs improvments!

First off, I really like this service. It's a nice break from how modern social medias are, and great if you are looking for something more "slow-paced". It's easy to meet other people and form genuine connections with them on the site.
The forums and groups features are kind of dead, and I'd like for the site to encourage users to use them more. But as long as you are interested in blog posts and not in forums, the site is pretty active from my experience!

Unfortunately it's not all sunshine and rainbows. The moderation is not good. The mods are all volunteers (which is normal for independent sites), and the mod team seems way too small for the site, considering that there are more than 1M accounts (although not all of them active). The site also does not use a strike system like most places: any offense results in a permaban without warning. On top of that, the TOS and user guidelines are very generic and unspecific. They do not provide concrete examples of what behaviour will result in an account suspension either, so it's hard to predict exactly what content could get you in trouble. This leaves users uncertain, and frustrated when their account gets permanently suspended without warnings or extensive explanations of what they did wrong. I feel like I see one of my spacehey friends complaining about someone they know getting banned every other day.
It's sad, because I really like this website and would like to financially support it, but I don't feel comfortable giving money to a service that might just permaban me out of nowhere for something trivial.

The site also goes down somewhat frequently. But I understand that this is an independent project and stuff like that is bound to happen. I'm fine with having to wait a couple of minutes to a couple of hours to have to use the site. But it's worth having that in mind if you are considering joining

I love Spacehey

I love Spacehey! Found a lot of friends with i can share so many things and have a great time! You can customize your profile, blogs and bulletins which makes everything so much fun and unique! True there is a problem with spam and creeps, and the site does go down often but that's understandable. Also i don’t know why older people have a beef with teens like they haven't been one when they were on the original myspace, they can also avoid all "gender, sexuality problems" i don’t get why it bothers them so much? Anyways the site helps you be a little less stuck on your phone because it is not addictive like the other social medias nowdays and since it has a browser version you can access to it from different devices old and new! Been on Spacehey 2 years already and im thinking of being even more there!!!

For the most part a great website

For the most part, Spacehey is a great website, the community is extremely accepting and the website functions with few glitches. The only reason I didn't give it a 5/5 is because of the gore accounts craze that happens every few months, which the moderators do little about and the times when the website will shut down for several hours, those are my only qualms.
