Worst website for maths ever created, other websites like TT rockstars and my maths are far superior. It makes you write down and copy all of the questions even though you have to submit them online.... See more

I genuinely hate Sparx Maths (and also Sparx Reader). It's extremely stressful and time consuming. Most of the time, Sparx will set you work that isn't even learnt at school. It's an awful thing and H... See more

chizer

Awful. I am a student that has had to put up with this repetitive, stereotypical maths website for 8 months now. It is the same dogchizer questions over and over again.

Worse than Hegarty.

Sparx has way too many questions, which turn a 10min homework (Hegarty) into 3 hours of pure torture (Sparx). The videos are pointless and unskippable (Sparx) and not short and sweet (Hegarty). Sparx will not tell you the answer if you continuously get it wrong (Sparx) whereas another website gives you the answer after a few wrong answers (Hegarty). All in all, Hegarty is so much better than Sparx.

Best site ever

Best site ever 10 / 10 would recommend

It has many things I love such as spending 3 hours on a 1 hour homework because I have nothing else to do outside of school.

Another great feature is the bookwork codes, these make me go through bits of paper quicker than ever and make my parents have to buy lots off.

A third ingenious feature is how occasionally it will say correct answers are wrong to make you lose confidence in your abilities.

But by far my absolute favourite part of sparx are the help videos which either have all information on the tittle screen or are completely unrelated.

All in all as a student would give 10 / 10 every maths teacher should use to torture I mean educate there students.

This website is one of the worst!!!…

This website is one of the most rancid websites to learn my maths on! Honestly, idk why schools have to choose the biggest stupid app! Pls whoever made sparx needs to get a therapist or something because this is just horrendous. Also, what’s funny is that schools rant on about climate change yet they make us waste paper for writing down loads of useless codes!!! I’ve just gave up on sparx and have 2 late and a new one which I don’t want to do! #BANSPARX

Awful

Awful. I am a student who has been forced to use spare maths for only 2 months and it has been the worst experience which I have had in any education platform ever. It allows maths teachers to not do their jobs and makes students very stressed as it is not a proper form of teaching.

The worst thing ever

The worst thing ever, they should be shut down. First of all the support videos do not make any sense, when I have gone to get help from Google it is wrong because apparently it is not right. My final opinion is do not use Sparx maths you will not gain anything from it.

The worst thing ever!

The worst thing ever!
I am a parent of a child who uses Sparx and it pains my child to do it every week. They have to wright down bookwork codes which wastes time, the videos are never helpful and you must constantly keep trying the question until you get it correct, and if you do not it says you have not completed the homework.
It is atrocious and homework should be done on paper, not on these ridiculous apps!

Absolutely terrible experience

Absolutely terrible experience. The bookwork checks are as useful as is a water bottle cover. This is very useless to make people write their answers as this wastes time that could be used to learn/revise other subjects (such as science or English). If you need to work out something, people usually write some of their workings in their books when in a non-calculator exercise anyways but forcing that person to have to write the answer ( for example If that question requires a calculator to get the answer and you have to copy the answer from the calculator into your book before being able to enter the correct answer. In addition the XP concept is completely absurd. What is it there for? It is a waste of time to give non-fun maths games as a 'reward' instead of being like Hegarty maths where there is simply an area on the website with all your statistics. Just what Hegarty maths does is much more satisfying and useful than sparxmaths. Also, the games causes children who are interested in that type of game to not actually be learning anything and just be wasting that child's time instead of being an exercise like Hegarty maths where the questions are continuous and you don't have to be clicking on the next question twice. Overall, if you are a parent or career, please understand the child's very probable anger and boredom when confronted with these types of questions. I also forgot to mention that they purposely tell you your answer is wrong so that you try it again in your book. I literally copied and pasted the question to Chat GPT and they got the same answer as me but they still said it was wrong

Horrible

Sparx in general is horrid but sparx maths takes it to a new level. Takes very long to do and many tasks, generally nobody likes it and it should be taken down.

Flawed, but decent.

Sparx Maths is a decent site for math learning, and in some ways it is an improvement from Hegarty Maths - the game system that it introduces is a great idea. However, the XP system that it has (completing a set of questions gives you XP, which encourages doing more math) is very irritating.

It's grindy, and unfair for how high of a level you have to be to level up. 10,000 XP is needed to reach Level 1, 20,000 XP for Level 2, etc - which would be fair, but you only earn roughly 100 XP for a set of questions which can have up to 7-8 questions. This means reaching the highest level, Level 25 (250,000 XP) takes far too long to achieve, even if you spend a while doing the independent learning feature. If you spend 9 months in school, then you'd need about 3 levels a month - this may not sound like a lot, but that's 30,000 XP, which takes ages to get.

The book-check system is good on paper (it encourages people to write down their working instead of cheating) but I have encountered several errors in which I input the right answer, but it gets said as wrong. You can also get about 3 in a row - this is by design, as if you fail at many you get several so you do end up writing things down finally - but I'm someone who only got it wrong once or twice. It's entirely undeserved. So, I can see the point of it, and it is a good idea, but it's just not worked in properly.

Overall, in the viewpoint of a student, I would recommend it for schools due to the simple interface, and engaging game system, but I do think it needs several updates - especially towards the levelling system to make it more fun, or at least somewhat easier and more tolerable to do.
