I tentatively joined SpeakMeeters as like so many people the thought of joining an online community and practising a language can be nerve-wracking.

However, I took the plunge and joined for a year after asking a few questions and receiving really encouraging and helpful replies from the site's chat facility.

I had my first meet up yesterday and was naturally nervous as I rarely get the chance to put my study of French into practice, however, the whole experience of my first call was fantastic. I gradually began to relax as the facilitator was excellent and encouraging and the other learner was very friendly and attentive.

My husband asked me how it went afterwards, and he was very relieved to see me smiling so much!

The site is really easy to navigate around and because I enjoy languages so much I really feel I could be part of this community longer term, perhaps even facilitating an English group in the future, which would be right up my street.

It takes a lot of courage for speakers of English to use what they have learnt when abroad, because it is so easy to break out into English with very helpful citizens of the country always eager to put someone at ease. However, next time I go to France - I think I will have more courage to speak once I have spent a few months with SpeakMeeters.

It really is a welcoming and happy community and I wish I had found it many years ago. Thank you to all those involved behind the scenes as well as those more visible on the site.

Speakmeeters has completely transformed my approach to practicing English by turning what used to be a stressful chore into an enjoyable, social experience. Before taking the leap, i was honestly quite hesitant, constantly worrying whether my English would be good enough or if I would just freeze up during a conversation. However, those doubts disappeared the moment I joined my first session. I chose SpeakMeeters because, unlike traditional courses that focus heavily on rigid grammar rules, this platform prioritizes real, live communication and connects you with real people for authentic conversations. What I love most is the relaxed, pressure-free atmosphere—it doesn’t feel like a classroom, but rather like catching up with supportive friends. Since joining, I have noticed a massive improvement; my speaking barrier is completely gone, I feel significantly more confident, and my vocabulary flows much more naturally.

I’ve been using this platform for about a year now to improve my French speaking skills and have become absolutely hooked ! I now also host sessions in English and have loved getting to know the community. Every session is full of new insights, cultural appreciation and a wonderful supportive way to feel more at ease in your oral skills. Highly recommend to anyone looking to deepen their practice in a non maternel language!

I decided to try Speakmeeters for a month to see how it worked out. I have been very pleased and will be continuing. It's well organised and straightforward to use and the native speaker hosts are professional and helpful.
Working in small groups, maximum of 5, plus a native speaker to lead the conversation I feel that I am already making progress. I am starting to feel more confident, it is just what I need to keep me motivated and on track.
For information language learning does not come naturally to me so finding somewhere where I feel comfortable and that works is a big plus.

I’d never heard of SpeakMeeters, so I decided to try it for 3 months only.
First week, I was already impressed, several hosts and members have been on the platform for 3+ years, first sign that the site is trustworthy.

Hosts are punctual, warm and bring engaging topics. Members are another highlight. There’s always this feeling of mutual cooperation and a genuine wish for the classmates’ progress. In French i’m almost always the weakest, but everyone is patient and kind, there's no place for judgement.

I’ve just renewed for another year and I also recommend the duo sessions, where i get help with my personal interests.
Finally, I want to mention StēFh, the founder. Friendly, understanding, and does a great job running the platform. Both site and customer service, works very well.

Speakmeeters is a straightforward and well-organized site where I speak French in a group led by a French speaker. We explore various topics, themes and concepts such as dates, numbers, terminology and more. At first, it's challenging to listen and pick up on the meaning of the words. Then it became challenging and fun. The teachers and students have a good learning spirit and attitude. And sometimes we laugh a bit. The teachers use the chat to correct and inform so you get feedback in numerous ways. Very good and recommended once you have a bit of a grasp on the language.

It allows you to practice with native speaker at a very cheap price. Very much recommended if you want to practice a language at ease from your home. Thanks SpeakMeeters!

I just joined SpeakMeeters and so far, it has been a fun experience. The French tutors I had were knowledgeable and friendly. A great site to try if you want to improve a language and/or be a host.

I've really enjoyed my experience so far, I've used about 5 different platforms and I would say this is the best overall as the hosts who are carefully chosen are here to help you with the same objectives as you and I find the other learners generally have higher competences than on other platforms which leads to more interesting discussion. Each host is different of course with their own style but I've enjoyed meeting them all and we address complex topics such as current events. Equally I enjoy being a host myself and look forward to my session where we also discuss complex topics. A great experience overall and happy to be part of this community meeting the other hosts or others wishing to practice French and those attending my session practicing their English.

SpeakMeeters has been a great way for me to improve my French language speaking skills. The hosts are knowledgeable and kind. They have helped me with grammar, pronunciation and fluency. And I think it’s wonderful that they have helped me have more confidence! Practice is the key and SpeakMeeters provides this.

I am learning a lot and meeting new people from France and other countries.

Kellyann's session was my first one on SpeakMeeters and I will be back! Her teaching methods are top notch, really pushing her students and ensuring they are actively participating throughout even when others are speaking. This is so beneficial to students. She will listen and give you specific feedback but always checks that you are happy and willing to receive it beforehand.

I have tried a few different language learning platforms, applications and courses and SpeakMeeters really stands out with its enthusiastic community and the opportunity to contribute to it as well. This is worth every penny.

It's a good way to meet other people.Unfortunately during the pandemic, the group never had social meet-ups but I think that Zoom meetings were used once or twice. I met many wonderful people. People volunteer their time as either 'hosts' and provide lessons on an app. Or, like me, you join and find sessions to 'learn' a language - as a student.
The payments to do Duo or 1-1 sessions through the company are complicated. The host receives no reimbursement on a financial level but is essentially a personal tutor. Unfortunately I found this out after buying a package of lessons - I requested a refund so I could pay the host directly but this was refused. I didn't renew with Tripmeeters and I just paid the host directly once I had completed my lessons with the company.
I met wonderful people, and I thoroughly enjoyed that side of membership. I was able to meet many people after moving abroad to live and work.Hopefully there will be more opportunities in the future for group activities.

Speakmeeters is not only a place that helps me improve my French and English but also a group of friends which keeps extending day by day. We talk, we share, we enrich ourselves and each other by telling our stories from all corners of the world. I am just so addicted to these experiences. I have been an active member of the Speakmeeters community for more than a year. When I started I could hardly form complete sentences in French, and felt very insecure about my accent and pronunciation when speaking to people in real life.
At Speakmeeters, you can join a group session where you participate in a video call with five other members and one host who is fluent in the language. During these sessions you can talk freely with your fellow members on topics that you like; you can make lots of mistakes, and learn from them, because you have the host to correct you. You can also join duo sessions, where you have a one on one session with a host who speaks the language fluently.
People on Speakmeeters are very friendly, polite and always willing to help you. I made some really good friends here.
They helped me get over my fear, and greatly improved my french listening and speaking skills. I can confidently participate and contribute to conversations in french.
