spikemycreditscore.com — Data-Harvesting Rental Scam Disguised as a Credit Check
Keywords: spikemycreditscore.com scam, rental scam, fake credit check, Facebook Marketplace fraud, Craigslist apartment scam
I encountered spikemycreditscore.com through what looked like a legitimate Craigslist apartment listing. The “landlord” told me I had to complete a credit check through this site before viewing the property. The process seemed normal — a form asking for personal information and payment details — but afterward, the listing disappeared and the contact stopped responding.
What I realized later is that this isn’t just a rental scam — it’s a data-harvesting scam. The goal isn’t necessarily to rent fake apartments, but to collect personal data and financial information under the guise of a credit screening process. My bank later caught attempted unauthorized transactions connected to this incident.
After researching, I found multiple reports online linking spikemycreditscore.com to similar rental and identity scams, where people lost hundreds or even thousands of dollars or had their personal details compromised.
This is a pattern of fraud that uses fake listings on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and Zillow to trick people into “verifying” their credit through a non-legitimate website.
Avoid spikemycreditscore.com entirely.
Use only well-known, verified credit check services and never submit your personal or payment information to a site you’ve never heard of. If a rental listing requires this website, it’s almost certainly a scam designed to steal your data.
Very bad password security
Very bad password security. Only allows a..zA..Z0..9 for passwords. No special characters. That for a site 'protecting' ssn and other critical data.
