I can't fault spoton pet insurance. Olive, my pet cat was 16 years old when I took out insurance for her with spoton, just 3 or 4 years ago. The monthly premiums were very competitive with ver... See more

Tried to claim for librella and metacam pain relief for a 14 year old dog, slowing down and in pain due to osteoarthiritis and joint degredation common in senior dogs due to age related wear and tear, the claim was refused as they said it was caused by a cruciate ligament operation 12 years previous so was a pre existing condition, they also stated a date my dog was recorded as "slowing down" which was a date we hadn't even visited a vets and we had already been insured with them for well over a year by then anyway even if it was true. Just felt like they were clutching at straws to not pay out and not a company worth paying for a policy with, will not renew with them again.

ABSOLUTELY APPALLING COMPANY — AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I cannot express how disappointed and disgusted I am with Spot On Pet Insurance. After years of paying premiums and being a loyal customer, they have shown absolutely no understanding, fairness or willingness to properly assess a situation.
They have cancelled my French Bulldog’s insurance policy following a claim for an ear hematoma because they have chosen to interpret a note in his veterinary history as “aggressive behaviour”. This note relates to an incident when he was a 5-month-old puppy (he is now 9 years old), where he was uncomfortable during a veterinary examination and nipped at the vet.
To use isolated comments from over 8 years ago as justification for cancelling a policy is completely unreasonable and, frankly, shocking. Spot On have had access to his full medical history for years, as have our previous insurer, and this has never been raised as an issue or been a blocker before.
Our vet even took the time to provide a personal statement confirming that my dog is not aggressive in the slightest and that this incident was entirely out of context - yet Spot On chose to completely ignore this professional opinion.
This company appears to look for any possible reason to avoid paying claims rather than treating customers fairly. The moment they were faced with a claim, they searched through historic records to find a reason to remove their responsibility.
The result of their decision is that my dog is now left without insurance cover, despite having no history of aggression and despite years of being insured without issue. The lack of compassion, professionalism and common sense shown throughout this process has been appalling.
I would strongly warn any pet owner to THINK TWICE before trusting Spot On with their pet’s insurance. A company that can abandon a long-standing customer and leave a 9-year-old dog uninsured based on a misunderstood note from puppyhood is not a company I would ever recommend.

They are always very friendly and sympathetic when we lost our cat to illness. They very quickly processed out claim which was great.

Taking out the cover for my older dog was quick and efficient and a much better price than other providers.

If there were more stars than 5 to award I would.
Value for money.
Extremely efficient and friendly service.
I genuinely feel that they are not just another insurance company and they care about my pet's health and wellbeing.

Never had a problem with them, as my first pet insurer don’t have much to compare them to but we have had to unfortunately had to use the cover much more than we would have liked and they have always bailed us out

My experience with Spot On Insurance has been nothing short of excellent. At the devastating time of hearing our beautiful Cockapoo had cancer, they could not have done more. From the point of placing my claim, Spot On dealt with the claim so quickly and without any further input from myself they dealt directly with the vets. Their compassion on hearing my sad news was so nice. If I ever get another dog I will not hesitate to insure with Spot On. From their customer service to their claims department, they are excellent.

We were in the horrible position of having to claim on our insurance when our dog was attacked by another.
The claim process was fairly simple and I was able to create the claim online on my mobile at the vets.
Our level of insurance did not cover all costs but the explanations of what wasn’t covered were clear. I queried one item and the response was quick and answered my query.
Some of the emails sent to me were auto-generated but any subsequent emails were personal and thoughtful.

Didn't realise that the policy did not pay out on death if the pet was over 8 years old.
Apart from being very upsetting to understand my nearly 16 year old dogs life was worth nothing, this fact was not clearly highlighted.
After receiving Spot On's reply to my previous review asking me to submit a claim under" Vets" bills. I submitted a claim which was declined (23.7.2026) basically because I chose a home Euthinsation rather than taking her to my normal Vet who did not provide this service.
So because I chose my pets welfare over a stressful Vet clinic I have been penalised. So beware everyone !

We've been with Spoton for a number of years with our cat, who, because she was getting on a bit, had to have injections for arthritis every month.
At all times when we've submitted a claim, it's been dealt with quickly and efficiently by Spoton.
Sadly, just recently, our cat took ill with a terminal problem, which involved a number of visits to the vet, and she was eventually put to sleep, so we had to submit several more claims. Once again, these were handled without fuss, and everything was fully explained.
We now no longer need a policy, but it was always reassuring to know we had cover. We would highly recommend Spoton to anyone looking for pet insurance.
