I was hit by a third party insured by Southern Rock. She admitted responsibility at the scene then changed her story. The company tried to make out that photos of the damage to her car were due to me pushing her into a lamppost. The photos showed no such evidence. A witness pulled over at the scene of the accident. When he made his witness statement, which corroborated my version of events, Southern Rock tried to make out our statements contradicted each other, a blatant lie. A total rogue company.

Complaint for Southern Rock

Hello,

I'm writing today to complain about my insurance policy that I had with you, I was in an accident and the insurance I had through you will not cover it because of modifications I had on my car which I was not aware of. I only recently had passed my driving license at the time and this was my first car I bought. The modifications on the car were not mentioned by the seller when I bought the car. I raised my concerns when these modification were raised by yourselves, but you ignored it. I also raised the fact that the brakes on my car at the time of the accident failed, but this was not investigated. The car had recently passed MOT, the brake fault or the modifications were not mentioned. I would like this complaint to be taken into consideration against the policy which I had with you.

Best Regards,

Martins Petruss.

Bad experience. Ridiculous business.

After paying for the insurance they wanted every proof of address. I sent a letter from my bank, which they rejected.

They also requested my contract of employment, which I provided and they rejected because it was older than 3 months. What a ridiculous policy! How many people do they expect to have only started their current employment in the last three months?

I then provided three recent payslips. Then they rejected these because they didn't have my job title. Again, ridiculous. I had to get a company headed letter written and sent it. They rejected it. This time because my job title was slight different. I explained that my job title was not available on the options menu as I took insurance through GoSkippy online (not recommended). They rejected this. I ended up canceling the policy within the 14 days and was still charged £35 for this horrible experience. This all happened back and forth over a week. Don't waste your time!

OVER ZEALOUS BEHAVIOUR

My son took out moped insurance through GoSkippy (not recommended) underwritten by offshore company,Southern Rock.
At the time of the proposal he was between jobs-unemployed (a higher insurance risk) but soon found employ(lower risk) but failed to alert the company-an honest oversight. He was involved in an accident , NO FAULT- a van collided with him vis 3rd parties fault in which liability was admitted.
After informing company of incident they then quickly cancelled (because of the oversight) his insurance policy and registered his details on the motor insurance bureau-serious as this makes all future insurance, if you can get it,expensive!
It was only after my intervention that this was revoked...but not all young people have parents who are capable in dealing with these businesses.
Conclusion: Asked Financial Ombudsman to look into their behaviour but did not find in my favour, so these businesses that I believe lack any integrity and fairness carry on regardless-BE WARNED.

Insurance quote of £410 increased to £589

Gave me a car insurance quote of £410 , when i went to pay the next day the price had shot up by an extra £180. When i complained they said it was because i wanted the insurance to start 3 days earlier than my original quote !!!

Initially thought I was getting car …

Initially thought I was getting car insurance from Debenhams, but found out it was this crowd. I made a mistake on the date of my passing, but quickly notified them. They then slapped on a £50 admin fee!!!! They then reduce it by £20 for 1 5 min phone call outrageous!!!

I have a private reg and they now want to charge £25 for the pleasure, well no thanks I will wait until next year and will go with a company with a much better customer service and who charge no fee for changing over (aviva). Its just a shame I didnt know who I was getting insurance with at the time, or I would have paid the wee bit extra for a decent company.
