Stampworld is a website that lists almost every stamp that is listed by every major world catalog, shows you a picture of it, and mostly gives a pretty accurate idea of its value. It's the only website that does so in an elegant design so simple to operate a chimp could do it.
One can pay for a membership and list stamps to sell for whatever price you want. It's also possible to buy from people selling stamps at their prices and to swap, though I've never used the swap function.
I have made perhaps thirty orders on the website and in 29 of those orders I received my stamps with no problem whatsoever. Vendors are reliable because payments go via Paypal typically, which makes guarantees. Just don't check the family and friends box when making payment because then the buyer loses any right to file a dispute--not that you should ever need to. Stamps typically (85-90% of the time) take 2-4 weeks to arrive on international orders, but one order (from Chile) took 6 weeks, and one from Italy took nearly three months. Patience and trust can be required when stuff is seemingly wrong, and that is not easy.
Oh, the one case of 30 that didn't work? That vendor simply didn't have his stuff together, forgot or neglected to mail the stamps, and when I called him on it by opening a dispute a month later, simply sent back the funds. No real harm done as I then purchased the stamps from another vendor.
The site is not perfect. Sometimes customer service is slow to respond and not that helpful when they do. The site goes down on occasion, typically for a few hours at a time once or twice per month. There's also some wrong information about individual stamps on the site. Sometimes a stamp has the wrong perforation measurement cited, or the wrong color attributed. This can't be corrected by the user, only admin, and they generally don't. So I no longer bother to tell them. But these small mistakes affect at most 1-2% of the stamps and not in a critical way. Being able to see a vendor's detailed feedback is also impossible. eBay this site is not.
Nevertheless, Stampworld.com is my go-to site for initial information about a stamp, an objective indicator of its value, and a great place to make purchases. It has the best GUI, is very easy to operate, and has the most vendors. Highly recommended for everyone.

There are still no pictures of stamps and no idea when it will be fixed
Website is unusable now. Pictures dont load. No response to emails. I've tested this now on different versions of windows and from my phone and it still doesn't work after 3 weeks and there's no update on when it might get fixed.
I agree with Malc. There are no pictures so the site has become useless for me. There is no reply to my emails. I guess I have wasted my money. I suspect they have had some virus affecting their software.
I would under normal circumstances give a 5.
However, over the last week no pictures show on the site, having tried on 3 devises / locations.
I accept things happen, but as a paid subscriber and emailing them over the last week, they have failed to give any feedback via the website or answered my emails.
Edit I have now had a response from them, thank you, there is an issue and they are working on it, I appreciate the communication, however, 1 week on, the site still does not work, you can still pay for a subscription though.
Extremely poor service.
I always buy stamps on stampworld.com paypal giving money back guarantee over 180 days. Best site for collectors.
I love their search system using maps. But if you are looking for specific format like blocks of 4 or sheets it is hard to find them unfortunately. Needs improving. Also some sellers sell items which they do not have in their stock and usually cancel items.
The worst side of this platform is they want money for membership. There are free sites which you can buy; the sellers are same in all platforms. So I cannot find the specific positions like blocks of fours or full sheets or plate blocks, paid membership and search system is really bad. The dealer and club pages are outdated; a lot of them are closed or cannot be reached. They must overhaul their search system, their dealer and club pages.
