Worst bank

First of all i think this bank having a customer feedback site and asking how they can improve is just PR. Went to open a bank account and I was not helped at all. Wasted my precious time. I was asked to download their app to enable me open the account and got no help at all to fill and get the account. Its been a week now.@Kimathi street Nairobi, Kenya, your service was poor up until now it pains me on how I wasted my time to even try to open a bank account with you. I wouldn’t recommend anybody to open an account with this bank as you will be disappointed from the first point of contact with the bank.

A Pathetic Bank

The most pathetic, unethical bank I have ever dealt with. I have long relationships with many banks in four different Countries, I have never seen a bank behave as unethically as Standard Chartered in Malaysia. Truly hopeless. Many calls, many forms, many delays.

Second time I credit card have been…

Second time my credit card have been blocked when I am trying to make a payment to pay for services overseas.

This is really annoying, no other credit card company I have ever used does this.

They said every time I go on holiday I should inform them and they will not block the card….ridiculous idea.

Difficult experience

It is every right for standard chartered not to waive the annual fees however they should not make it impossible to cancel the card. I contacted the bank 2 weeks ago and they assured me that the cancellation would be processed in 3-5 working days. I still see the outstanding fees in my account and the card has not been cancelled.

A Troubling Tale of Mismanagement and…

A Troubling Tale of Mismanagement and Deception
In 2007, an unfortunate series of events unfolded involving a scam orchestrated by Farooq Ahmed from Manchester and his co-conspirators in Dubai—Adnan, Suhail Yaqoob, and Shahab Uddin Seikh. This group of individuals requested a hefty sum of GBP 50,000 (equivalent to AED 353,000) to be transferred to an account under the name of Abdulla Al-Rais Real Estate at Standard Chartered Bank Dubai, purportedly for a property purchase. However, the money mysteriously vanished, leaving me entangled in a web of deception and frustration.
The Legal Struggle
In pursuit of justice, I enlisted the services of Hamdan Al Shamsi, an advocate in Dubai, to help recover the lost funds. The legal battle began in 2012, and to my dismay, after ten long years, in 2022, it was revealed that the advocate had made a critical error by writing the defendant's name incorrectly. This oversight has proven costly, both financially and emotionally. To rectify this mistake, the advocate now demands additional payment beyond the initial fee of AED 80,000.
A Web of Confusion
Further investigation revealed discrepancies in the defendant’s name as recorded by the Dubai Land Department compared to the name on the bank account. This inconsistency has only compounded the challenges in resolving this case.
The Bank's Role
Standard Chartered Bank Dubai’s refusal to disclose how the funds disappeared is deeply concerning. The lack of transparency suggests possible involvement of bank staff, including the bank manager, in facilitating money laundering activities. The existence of false accounts for such purposes raises serious questions about the bank's practices and ethical standards.
Conclusion
This distressing ordeal highlights the critical need for due diligence and accountability within financial institutions and legal systems. The mishandling of this case by both the advocate and the bank underscores the importance of vigilance and integrity in preventing such incidents from occurring again. As I continue to seek justice, I hope this serves as a cautionary tale for others navigating similar situations.

I've never seen a bank push a customer…

I've never seen a bank push a customer to close an account quite like this. Most banks focus on attracting and retaining customers, but I was repeatedly advised to close my account and open a new one, despite only needing it active for a few more months to receive a pending payment. Same outcome, extra paperwork, wasted time. An unnecessarily frustrating experience.

STANDARD CHARTERED BANK IS THE WORST…

STANDARD CHARTERED BANK IS THE WORST BANK IN SINGAPORE 🚨
how Standard Chartered Bank Singaporehandles its customers.
I was repeatedly told to wait 48 hours. After 48 hours, I was told to wait another 48 hours. Then another 48 hours. This continued for more than 10 days.
Throughout the entire process, there were no proactive updates, no urgency, and no accountability. The only reason I eventually received an answer was because I kept calling and following up. If I had not done so, I would probably still be waiting.
This is not about the amount involved. It is about service standards, professionalism, and respect for customers.
A bank should not need customers to constantly chase for updates and action. Customers deserve timely communication, proper follow-up, and clear answers.
Based on my experience, this has been one of the most disappointing banking experiences I have ever encountered in Singapore.
Extremely disappointed. Completely lost confidence in Standard Chartered Bank Singapore.

SC apps is not friendly user

SC apps is not friendly user. Cannot login app and need to obtain for temporary PIN No but take so long to reach thru phone call just for a PIN No. At the end I stop waiting and somehow delaying any credit card fee/charges. Because of this I’ve been unable to login app n now I cannot trace any payment could be charged on my credit card by the bank even tho I never touch the card. I bet the credit card charges now spiked already! Customer service SCB Malaysia SLOW and pretty rude! Can you just answer if the customer say they dont know instead of continue judging them! Rude! 😡

BANK NOT WORKING AVOID

I have been working in banking for 30 year and I am confidently stating that Standard Chartered Bank is not fit for purpose. In my experience bad, terrible and useless people! Currently my company has a large payment stuck with them for the last 6 months and they have not been able to return even if the correct process of SWIFT RECALL has been followed and they have been chased several times via SWIFT. It is not a compliance problem and in fact they tried to return the funds but they failed to do so since they did not follow the instruction provided via SWIFT that stated the obvious: return the fund the same way you received them (via TARGET2). When contacted via phone they have been aggressive to me and unable to provide any support whatsoever.

Absolutely unacceptable experience.

Absolutely unacceptable experience.

The bank closed my account without giving me any clear or valid reason. At the time I was overseas, and this card was my only access to money, it was a significant amount. One morning I opened the app and saw my balance had been reduced to zero. It was 3rd of March.

Imagine being in another country, relying on that account, and suddenly finding out your money is gone with no warning, no proper explanation, and no one available to help.

They also made no real effort to make sure I actually received the closure letter. No proper phone call, no useful email, nothing that reflects the seriousness of cutting off someone’s access to funds while they are abroad.

After that, I had to chase them myself from overseas, calling repeatedly just to get basic information about how to recover my own money.

Eventually they sent me a SWIFT form that I couldn’t even open. I informed them of this, emailed multiple times, called multiple times, and even left a request for a callback. Still nothing useful was done. No callback, to forms, no communication.

Then they simply stopped replying.

The complaints agent’s number is listed, but no one picks up. So apparently there is a complaints channel on paper, but not in reality.

This whole situation has been handled with a shocking level of carelessness and zero accountability. If you are trusting this bank with your money, especially while living or travelling abroad, think twice.

Files a complaint to their official regulator.

Harassment & Misleading Information by Standard Chartered Bank

Very disappointing experience with Standard Chartered Bank.

I have been struggling for more than a year regarding unnecessary MAB charges and incorrect guidance from branch staff. Despite multiple emails and calls, the bank fails to provide clear written information about account downgrade, MAB requirements, and service details.

Staff at the branch misguide customers and later deny responsibility. Even after escalation, they only give verbal assurances but avoid written confirmation.

This has caused me financial loss, mental stress, and complete loss of trust. Customer service is highly unprofessional and insensitive.

I would not recommend this bank to anyone. Please be very careful before opening an account here.

Worst Service

Worst Service.First time ever missing a payment — and Standard Chartered immediately charges a late fee with zero flexibility.
Tried to appeal for a waiver, but was met with a flat rejection. No understanding, no customer care — just rigid policies.
If this is how they treat customers with a clean record, it says a lot.
Paid it off and cancelled the card right after. No regrets.

Frustrating experience

Frustrating experience. Be ready that Standard Chartered will not process your transfers, both outgoing and incoming, and will not inform you about any delays until you call them to find out on the status of your transfers. It will take you time and efforts calling them to find out, and their explanations will be vague linked to some ‘technical reasons’, at the end they will just send your money back without informing you. It happened to me during last two months both while receiving money to my SC account, and while making a transfer from my SC account.
