Paid for SEO pages. Never delivered to spec/design. Got our money back.
We hired MarketEngine for inbound SEO content in February 2026 and ended the engagement about two months later. None of the pages they delivered remain published on our site.
What went wrong: several pages described capabilities our product does not have, including a full page built around interview scheduling, which we do not offer. One section displayed the opposite of our published positioning. A page went live on our site before we approved it, with a contact form copied from another page that fed into our support ticket system. We provided our design guide, content guide, and illustration library at kickoff; the delivered work did not follow them. Issues we flagged were acknowledged and then reappeared in later rounds. The final drafts still had duplicate H1 tags, missing alt text, FAQ sections without FAQ schema, broken CSS, and typos in headings.
When we raised these issues, their team wrote that our style guide was received after the first set of pages had been published. Our email records show we walked them through the design guide, content guide, and illustration library on February 23, the contract start date, and sent a follow-up email the same day describing all three.
We sent a formal breach notice for lack of performance. Instead of correcting the work, they stopped delivery, declined to issue any refund, and stated that further revisions were outside their scope. We recovered our full fees through our card issuer.
How they can improve: verify every product claim against the client's actual product before drafting. Read the client's brand and content guides before the first page, not after the first dispute. Keep everything in draft until the client approves the rendered page. Run a basic technical SEO check (one H1, alt text, schema) before submitting anything for review. Track feedback so a correction stays corrected.
The team was quick to schedule calls. That did not make up for the work, or for how the dispute was handled.
