Here's the Stauer difference: We don't have wholesalers. We don't pay rent for expensive shops or hire expensive celebrity spokespeople. We go directly to the source and make the product ourselves. Last year we bought 2 million carats of emeralds and 9 million carats of amethyst. The local store might buy 20 or 30 carats a year from wholesalers who mark up their product by about 50%. We’re getting the better deal and we pass the savings on to you. Because at the end of the day, true value comes from leaving $1,600 in your bank account and still being able to own one of nature’s most fascinating gems. Stauer is where you go to honor the triumphs of living. Honoring milestones or celebrating the joy and beauty of the love of your life. It’s the story of history, art, science, of man’s fascination with the beauty of nature. We don’t overcharge you for a little blue box; instead we will take you on the romantic journey of a lifetime.

small jewelry purchase turned into a nightmare
About four years ago, my husband ordered a necklace/earring set for me and ended up with a yearly membership fee of $100 per year that he never asked for. We are not heavy duty jewelry buyers and definitely don't need this membership. Nonetheless, a $100 membership has been tacked onto our credit card every year since then.
Fast forward, four years later, and my husband asked me what to get for my birthday. I really didn't want much but Stauer had ONE item that I thought would be nice and relatively inexpensive with the yearly "coupons" we receive with the unwanted membership (but have never used) that were about to expire.
Lo and behold, this transaction ended up with yet ANOTHER $100 "membership upgrade" added to the original membership fee that was never asked for and we have been paying every year for four years.
Every transaction with this company has been psychologically painful and unexpectedly expensive. I thought we could at least recoup something from the ongoing, unwanted, Stauer membership and get some kind of bargain to offset the fours years worth of membership fees. But now, we have an additional "upgraded membership" charge.
It's really a shame that they use such low-level, forced upsell tactics because their jewelry products seem to be okay, mid-grade products. But every transaction has brought unwanted upsells with that ridiculous membership that we never wanted and rarely use.
I actually like the few pieces we have bought; however, that slight enjoyment is tainted with the memory that dealing with this company is like dealing with scammers. You will end up bait-and-switched with things you never planned on buying. The icing on the cake is that they will carpet-bomb you with many letters/catalogues every week. It's such a waste. It makes me ill just thinking about it.

Love their unique watches
Love their unique watches. Great products for a very fair price.
Very disappointed, don’t buy from this company.
I went to go get a watch about over a year ago and when I ordered one they started sending me a multitude of emails and messages constantly so I had to block them. Once I did a couple weeks past and I started getting thick pieces of paper in the mail of their catalogs offing a bunch of discount codes which tells me if they’re constantly having discount codes sent to you pretty much everytime you go to your mail box then it’s a bad product which it was and I didn’t like the quality at all. Then when I did some digging I was able to opt my address out their mailing service (which I never went into in the first place) and they stopped for a couple months only for them to start sending them again!! Very sketchy because a truly good and well known jewelry company wouldn’t do this and it screams cheap wanting to get rid of the items they can’t sell by putting discount after discount. Very annoying how I came for one time piece and now I get messages and catalogs in the mail constantly. Very disappointed.

Stauer service
I used to be impressed with Stauer and planned to purchase a ring from them. Between the time I spent waiting on the phone to one of your representatives and an extensive amount of questioning about the ring purchase, I became very discouraged with the approach you use. I do not plan to deal with your company again. Your representatives need to be trained better!!
I received a call from Billie, a customer service supervisor, to address my experience with Stauer. She was very helpful and I went ahead and ordered a ring. I do appreciate the way she handled my original experience.
Absolutely beautiful
Received my watch and it was packed with care. Absolutely a beautiful watch and works great.
Customer Indifference
The company can improve its relationship with its customers by not carpet-bombing them with catalogs after the sale has been made.
I have repeatedly requested my name and address be removed from their mailing list -- all to no avail, Stauer's excuse is they need at least 3 months to do this Well, it's been more than 3 months and the catalogs continue to arrive on an almost daily basis. What is it that Stauer's trying to prove at this point is beyond me. Never have I seen such hidebound stubbornness on the part of a reputable company. If you read this and agree with me please chime in. Maybe they will get the message

Best watches for the money!!!
I have 3 different Stauer Watches & I love all of them!!!
Outrageous shipping fees
No problem with the product!! LOVE my Eagle Eyes sunglasses and happy to find them in the catalog. However, I paid over $80 for a $39 purchase!! It was $19.99 to ship an item that doesn't weigh 2 ounces. They shove tons of advertising in the envelope that nobody wants, adds weight. They also pressure you into buying insurance on your purchase. Won't be back.

I received a 1920s Retrograde Watch a a gift
I was gifted the 1920s Retrograde Watch last year. I had my doubts about it, as I usually don't wear quartz watches. But it works on your favor here. It's reasonably accurate without a sweep second hand and fun to watch at 1159 to 1200.
No repairs for these watches
So I was going through an old box of my stuff and came across my old graduation present. I was really excited getting my Stauer Magnificat at the end of 2007. I wore it for a couple of months and the day hand separated from the peg and fell into the bezzle. I stopped wearing it so the loose hand wouldn't get caught up in the other hands and cause the watch to jam or break. I attempted taking it to a couple of jewelers who advertised watch repair. They all refused to touch a Stauer even though I would have been satisfied just getting it open to get the loose hand out of it.
Sadly there is zero opportunity to fix these. I wish I had done the research to find that not only was it limited to a 30 day warranty, but that no one...including Stauer...will do ANY repair of them if there is an issue. Sadly I wasted the money of my family who got together to buy me a nice present.
To be fair the minute I picked it up from sitting in the box it began to tick away again...but without the ability to get the loose date hand out I would forever be waiting for it to jam and completely break.
The AARP Magazine Ad Photo Is Not Represenative
I purchased the Over the Rainbow Murano necklace and complimentary bracelet after see them in an ad in AARP magazine. Unfortunately, the AARP ad does not accurately reflect the color and inner texture of the beads at all. In the magazine ad, the necklace looked more pastel, more uniform in color, and the beads were frostier. But in reality, it's nothing like that at all. It is very bright and most beads are clear. In case anyone is wondering, I did check the company catalog's picture and it looks more or less accurate. So sad.

In February or before
In February or before, I asked Stauer for information regarding the movement in their Graves automatic watch. They informed me ,by E mail, that the movement is a swiss one. I purchased a Graves watch from EBay to find it has a Chinese movement. When asked about this they said I needed to take it up with EBay. They would not accept any responsibility. I will never buy a Stauer watch again from any source and in my opinion no one else should either. It would be inappropriate, in my opinion, to provide details to Stauer regarding the transaction as the seller of the watch treated me exceptionally well and sold the timepiece to me at a budget price. I would ask Stauer, however, to confirm or deny that the Graves watch has a Chinese movement .

Low quality product aimed at elderly…
Low quality product aimed at elderly people. Sales rep directly calls my father with dementia, resulting in $5000+ one-time purchase. Even my father says what arrives looks nothing like the picture. Awful business ethics.
Jewelry breaks with a few months of…
Jewelry breaks with a few months of purchase. Item received doesn't look like picture. No cleaning instructions. Not all cust reps are nice. Some are down right nasty and try to put the blame on me for the trouble I'm having. Read my file. You also do not include a certificate of authentisity on the semi-presious stones you use. For all I know the purple amethysts could very well be just anothr rock. Bottom line, every piece of jewelry my husband has bought me from your store online has had to be returned because of breakage unrelated to me.

My husband ordered a ring and earrings…
My husband ordered a ring and earrings along with a bonus bracelet on 2/7/24. We received the bracelet but the ring and earrings are on back order. Called the company today and the rep couldn’t give me a date that we could expect to receive the merchandise. She said maybe 3-4 weeks. I feel that if the item(s) are not available when ordered the customer deserves to be advised of that fact so that he can either not order it or select something else.

Products are cheap overpriced trash they charge you ridiculous prices. Shipping costs are ridiculist. They charge you insurance to mail it ridiculous. I wouldn't buy anything from this company. They are a scam.
Charge you $35 for a necklace. That's worth about $2. Would never buy anything from this company again.
Save your money, shop elsewhere.

Shipping, insurance and return fees are out of control.
Be sure you want the jewelry. They are making SO MUCH MONEY ON SHIPPING, RETURNS AND INSURANCE that’s it’s wrong. $19.95 to ship less than 1 lb. of jewelry. I need to return a necklace and they deduct $12.50 from my account when I paid $29 for the necklace. And they charged $ 4.75 for insurance that I never knew anything about. The jewelry is very reasonably priced because they are making a FORTUNE on these charges. It’s insane. My jewelry was 72% of the total bill. The other 28% was shipping, insurance and tax.

If I could give them 0 stars
If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Terrible customer service. Company doesn't stand behind their products and won't do anything to remedy when a piece of their jewelry loses a stone after just a year of light use.
