Stay clear of this company

Update: refund appeared in our bank account today!!!! Only 32 days after cancellation and 3 days after posting a 1 star review. No call, text or email to say why it’s taken so long. Was it because our bank got involved - don’t suppose we’ll ever know?
Not that I’m going to alter the review because it has not been a pleasant experience.

We too think we’ve been scammed by this company, Stay Warmer UK Ltd.
Following a visit by their “surveyor” we paid a deposit on 2/11/23 for partial removal of spray foam loft insulation to allow for ventilation plus installation of more traditional insulation. The price was reduced because the work could be done 2 days later while they were in our area.
We were told, (and it’s in writing on the contract) that we could cancel up to 5pm the next day.
Later, having thought about it, we decided to delay having any work done until getting further independent advice.
On Fri 3/11/23, I tried calling, many times, the 0800 number on the contract - kept diverting to a Vodaphone mobile with a full inbox so no message could be left;
even tried sending a text to the mobile number. Also sent an email to the email address on the sales contract as in the small print it states cancellation should be in writing. Even called our bank and said we thought this was a suspicious company as unable to contact them and a stop was put on my debit card as a precaution.
Finally, at about 5.30pm we had a call from Lucas Fugal and told him we didn’t want to go ahead and he said we would get a refund of the deposit.
A week later no money received & we called Lucas Fugal (fortunately, his number was stored in the phone from when he’d called us) and he said it can take up to 14 days. Here we are a month later and still no refund. Our bank are also investigating to see if we can get the money back.
Don’t use this company.
Red flags: cold call out of the blue
Offered discount if we agreed to work being done quickly.
Firm’s published phone number diverts to mobile that’s never answered.
Dodgy looking website.

Cant be trusted

We received a sales call from Stay Warmer UK asking if we had our loft coated with spray foam. An appointment was made and a sales representative/surveyor inspected the loft. He said we needed the foam removing as it had been incorrectly installed. He quoted a fixed price which was reduced on discussion with the MD, Lucas Fuggle. We accepted the quote and the work was efficiently carried out as specified and on time. We paid the full amount on completion. I then asked Mr Fuggle by email to provide an invoice for the work and a completion certificate. This was requested on 25th September by email. After several requests and promises, they have still not been received in mid November. I am worried that this company will not warrant the work and cannot be trusted.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company. They claim to be legit with an 0800 number, but it’s actually a Vodafone mobile with a very rude person that answers it. Clearly they just tell people that the installation needs replacing when it doesn’t. DO NOT USE!!!

In my opinion I am sure my father in law has been scammed and we have now taken action. No contact from this company, do not use them. The phone number goes to a voice mail. Strange that several 5 star reviews have now popped up to hide the 1 star ones claiming people have been scammed.

I had a phonecall about my existing loft insulation to see if there is a problem with it they also offered a free quote to install newer and more efficient installation . A young gentleman came to my house he was very friendly and helpful getting a quote which was very reasonable and decided to go ahead with the work. The workmen turned up on time and were very friendly and completed the work within the time frame they set . Very happy with the final outcome I will definitely be recommending the company. Well done !

I got a phone call out of the blue

I got a phone call out of the blue, never expected it

At first I thought it was a scam, but while I was on the phone I did a google search for them, yes they were a company and their phone number was the right one

I arranged for a home visit to look at my foam in my loft, they told me it might have been the wrong kind installed, I told them British gas had installed it or one of their contractors and I would contact British gas, who would come out Friday (18 August)

Two guys from Stay warmer turned up showed up, nice blokes, introduced themselves, ID cards the lot

They did the inspection,

They told me I had the wrong foam on my roof, then they showed me pictures of what it should have been

I was directed to a video on YouTube, a BBC documentary about roof foam

We all watched it, yes it seems I do have the wrong kind of foam installed

It would give me problems if I ever sold my house

So we got down to prices, we paid a deposit of £1300, with the balance paid upon final installation (£4900)

What could go wrong? I had 14 days to cancel

Well I had a think about it, then decided I wouldnt be selling my house, it would be left to my kids, let it become their problem

They would be getting a 3 bedroom house for nothing anyway

I called Stay Warmer to cancel, they werent happy, but I had called them within the 14 days cooling off period, so they canceled it, they werent happy, but they did

Now here is the rub, I paid the deposit right away, on my debit card, but its going to take 14 days to repay my deposit

How and why does that work out ?

They are probably a very good company, I had never heard of them, they dont have many reviews

They were going to strip the old foam from my roof, clean and trat all the timber, install this new foam all in a short day (10 am until 5pm)

Its a lot of hard work, I think their time scale is well off

They lose a star because of the deposit issue

Edit, here we are 10 days later, I have called them about my refund, I still dont have my refund or any contact from them

Edit, I have been scammed by this company, do not use them

I also think that I have been scammed…

As Stay warm have said that they will send the guarantee etc by Wednesday I shall reconsider my review but it is a shame that I had to go on Trustpilot to get a response as they ignored my emails
I have not had the work checked as I am unable to get into the loft so I had to rely on their reports and photos on a phone. If I receive the report I willupdate my rating to 4 stars

Thank you for contacting us, your guarantee and receipt for the work done have been completed and will be with you by Wednesday next week. You had agreed that the work carried out you were happy with, meaning it's just the delay on receiving the method statement.

Stay Warmer UK

Original contract now satisfactorily completed, but I hadn't enjoyed the experience of originally feeling let down.

Further to my previous disappointing report, Stay Warmer responded immediately to my poor report and responded by arranging for a second team to attend the property and complete the work originally paid for. After 2 hours of hard work, the work was satisfactorily completed, and I am now fully satisfied that it has been well done. I am sorry if I caused a blot on their record and I now request that my previous report is withdrawn and this rating substituted.
