We have had new kitchen worktops for…

We have had new kitchen worktops for two months. Stone Worktops manufactured and fitted concrete worktops and also an integrated sink in one of them for our kitchen. This is a truly professional company and a pleasure to work with. I would happily recommend them to anybody seeking custom made concrete products.

Fantastic service from the beginning to…

Fantastic service from the beginning to end! We were recommended stone
worktops by the builder working on our main bathroom refurb as we had quite
specific ideas and he suggested using concrete to achieve that (thanks Milena).
We ordered a concrete basin and some concrete countertops / shelving. Milena was very helpful throughout, and offered samples when we weren’t sure about. Turned out concrete to fit very well in our new bathroom.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS…

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY! PLEASE READ.

I dont know where to start with this business. Milena and the company are jokers and frauds.
Product was originally delayed three times over a period of 2 weeks. Guy eventually turned up (4 hours late). The Install was in the height of COVID and he randomly arrived with his girlfriend, neither of them had any PPE equipment, no gloves, no masks or anything.
I was told he could not unload the worktop from the van until I had paid in full which seemed abit odd as after paying a 50% deposit you would usually allow the product to be installed before paying the balance but at this point I obliged none the less.
The worktop was damaged getting it into the house which we were advised is 'normal, due to the weight of the product' and he would mix up more concrete and fix it on site.
I specifically paid for a 1 piece worktop with no joins and as soon as the top was inside it was clear that there was a join right down the centre of the unit.
The unit needed the hob section cutting out on site and the installer proceeded to cut concrete with no dust sheets or protective gear in the middle of my brand new lounge diner!!! If anyone has seen concrete dust they will know how messy it is, we had thick clouds of abrassive dust throughout the whole downstairs!
The grinder he was using had the wrong blade fitted which caused it to catch, bend and snap, flying across the floor and taking a huge chunk out my brand new wooden floor and side unit on the kitchen. He then didnt have any spare blades to complete the cutout so I had a half installed unit weighing 550kg on my island with a join right down the centre that we could not load back onto the van due to its weight.
The concrete he mixed up on site and trod all through my house (that took me 3 hours to clean) was not the same colour as the worktop itself...
To add to this, the unit was bowed with a variance of 40mm from one end to the other so it did not fit flush on the island and looked terrible.
Because of the mess and damage the installer had made in the house I politely asked him to leave. He told me to report everything to head office..
9 emails and over 30 phonecalls and voicemails later I have had nothing back from head office and it is clear they have taken my money and run...

I am currently taking this legal through my solicitors. I can see they have already had CCJs filed against them as they clearly do not know how to run a business.

I stupidly did not see the reviews on here previous to ordering my worktop. In total with remedial works etc I am a close to £6000 out of pocket and now have my original worktop on the island!! I wasnt the first victim of stone worktops and I fear unfortunately wont be the last.

Seriously, dont be tempted with this companies website and claims... all complete rubbish.

I am very sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our service and our products. I seems to me that not everyone are aware of what is the concrete and how the concrete looks like before it is installed. Unfortunately Variations in product appearance and colour, flecking, pitting, dappling and texture is considered to be part of the natural beauty of the material and are not seen as defects. Stone-Worktops procedures high quality ready work surfaces and clients following our After-care Instructions will ensure the quality and appearance for many years. I am very sorry that the company we hired to deliver and install your product did not meet your expectations. They are no longer working with us.
Now we send our own assembly team to be sure that the work will be pampered to the very end.
The terms of delivery were not met in 100% by you, therefore it was difficult to take the product to the place.
Concrete is a material that can be easily repaired with a properly selected mixture. However, due to the fact that the damage caused due to the 3rd party is not covered by the warranty. However, the company that performed the service tried to hide the damage as best their could.
When we talk about our payment rules, payment is required before installation, the customer has the right to check the quality and the entire product before it is installed and before payment. These are bespoke products made to order and to a special pattern and size for the customer. It is not possible to resell such a product, especially after its installation.
Therefore, in all such companies - payment is required before installation.
We are very sorry that we have not been able to satisfy you 100% and we wish you all the best for the future.

Quality and competence

I am surprised to see the negative reviews here. Our experience with Stone Worktops have been almost entirely positive, and I can definitely give them the ''great'' rating here. We were visited promptly for the measurements and templating after the initial conversation, and although delivery did take some time to arrange even once the worktop was made, and that definitely made the process drag out a bit; once arranged, it was made on the day we agreed on, and the fitting was efficient and without mishaps - quite impressive really, considering the size and sheer weight of the thing, and the need to manouvre it through the house before it got into its position in the kitchen.

I am a surveyor by profession so I know concrete is not necessarily that easy to work with if you want a specific aesthetic effect, and I can confirm that what we got was absolutely up to standard not just technically but design wise and aesthetically. We knew that concrete requires a bit of care to keep its looks, but the effects are worth the effort for us.

Initially they sound like a business

Initially they sound the business, however, they’re not as slick as they sound. Very dissapointed with their service, attitude and product quality.
They were the cheapest from 5 companies I've got a quote from, NO WONDER WHY.
At first they sound polite but once they have your monies they don't care about you, was trying to find their company BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THEY WORK AS A SOLE TRADER, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE OR ANYTHING APART FROM SCREWING OVER PEOPLE.
I did some digging and it looks like tons of people went ahead with this guys and now there is another company that has to fix all of their bull****.
WHY DON'T YOU GO OUT OF BUSINESS? YOU HAVE RUINED ENOUGH PEOPLE.
I have hired another concrete company to re-make a £7000 kitchen which STONE WORKTOPS HAVE MESSED UP, I will update the review once A PROPER COMPANY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT.

SO BASICALLY DON'T USE THIS COMPANY AS YOU WILL GET SCREWED OVER, I WILL PUT A CLAIM ON THEM TO RECOVER ALL MY COSTS.

*BEWARE DO NOT USE!*

*BEWARE, DO NOT USE!* Unfortunately, I have hired these guys on several projects only to find out that their products faulty, ware not delivered on time, in a horrible state in many instances where they had to be redone - multiple times! Milena will want to charge you for every single little thing and not to mention that the sealers for the concrete that they are using will not protect against literally anything that the surface touches.
Oh yes, and the best thing is, they are not a legitimate company, they operate as a sole trader so do not expect any guarantee and every problem that you will have will be referred to unbeatable, holy Terms And Conditions. We/You as a customer mean only a number to these people. I would stay away from them as far away as I can!!!

As proof, I attach photos of just one of the delivered projects.

Any questions do not hesitate to ask.

Dear Dominik,

It is very unfortunate that our two years of collaboration have to end like this. Between October 2018 and January 2020 we have completed 20 projects, plus three cancelled, some due to the fact that health and safety requirements were not complied with to a level that would endanger our staff.

During the period we worked together, we did not charge you for extras according to our T&C's (which you were perfectly aware of). Recognising our long term collaboration, we substantially reduced any extra transport charges to less than half of what the contractual amounts were.

Strange then that it's only now we are finding out – on a very public platform -- that our products were ''faulty'' and in a ''horrible state'' and our sealers ''don't protect against anything that the surface touches''.

We can see the photos of damaged worktops you uploaded with this review. However, and I cannot stress that strongly enough, these were damaged during an attempt at installation by another contractor.

We use high quality sealers, and we provide very detailed instructions regarding aftercare. It was your responsibility, as a reseller, to inform the customers and make sure they understand how to look after their worktops. If they ended up damaged soon after the delivery, I can only assume you didn't provide that information or it wasn't followed properly.

Either way, if you were so comprehensively unhappy, you would not have done all those numerous
project with us and featured our products on your website and your YouTube channel.

As you very well know, this current problem has nothing to do with our products and everything to do with the fact that in our collaboration we did, indeed, insist on your complying to a basic level with our Terms and Conditions, including health and safety regulations. And of course we do!

A producer of bespoke items that cannot be reused or resold cannot afford not to cover their costs simply because a customer changed his or her mind. And unfortunately sometimes the brunt of this falls on the reseller, such as your company.

We had every intention of solving issue amicably to minimise costs and ensure each party's interest are protected as much as possible. We are very sad to see that our collaboration has ended in an Internet exchange of unsubstantiated accusations that have nothing to do with the real issue.

And finally, businesses status as a sole trader vs. limited company has nothing to do with having T&C's or guarantees or anything of the sort, so we have no idea why you are bringing that up.

COWBOYS - DO NOT USE THEM

I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with this company. The initial dealings were pleasant and they sounded like they know what they are talking about.

Gavin came over for the initial quote and templating service, I asked for samples of their natural colour and samples of the different polishing finishes they do. I was explained the process and told they would push the worktops through to be installed on a specific date , the morning of the installation I was told that they had a vehicle breakdown and wont come over but that they will be at my house the next day at 8am, I arranged as per their T&C's for the builders to be on site(at a cost to me) to assist with offloading the worktops. I phoned them at 07h30 on the morning of installation to check where they were, I couldn’t get hold of them until 08h40 after I decided to ring them until they answer, only then was I told they wont be coming over as one of the worktops were damaged.

I was then promised another installation date and again the one worktop got "damaged" during transport, they also refused to fit the island worktop as they claimed that the scaffolding were in the way, during the initial consultation they did mention the scaffolding but also did mention they will find a way to get into the house. Then out of the blue I got an email from their office claiming they should charge me £300 for a failed installation but they will wave it as the one worktop were damaged.

We agreed another installation date, I again organized for some extra hands again at an additional cost to me, when I finally had my first look at these elusive worktops it was very evident that it was not the colour I ordered and also not the finish I ordered. Regarding the colour I was told that within 6 weeks it will be the colour of the sample, well it is still the same yellow(natural) that they installed, when I queried this with their office I was referred to their T&C about a slight deviation in colour, to be honest I appreciate this is a handmade product and that each piece will differ, but I took the natural colour, no pigment was added to the worktops, so I would expect to at least receive something that matches the colour of the sample, The worktop that kept on "breaking" is a smooth polished finish that look and feel completely different to the kitchen island worktop. It is so visibly different that we have been asked whether we deliberately ordered them that way.

I have sent them numerous emails which they very selectively respond on, they have also stopped returning or answering any of my calls. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are incompetent and untrustworthy cowboys.

******* UPDATE TO THEIR RIDICULOUS RESPONSE TO MY REVIEW *******

Quality of products – The response received from stone worktops is laughable, even more so them hammering on, on quality. These guys are not craftsmen, they pour concrete into a mould and hope and pray a good result and whatever comes out the customer has to accept.

Signing off products – Clearly their memory is letting them down, I did not want to accept the worktops when they finally arrived on site, I was told if I don’t accept them that I will have to wait another two months for new ones to be manufactured, I was then spin a whole lot of BS that the worktops still need to dry out and will eventually be the colour I ordered. I was advised by their fitter to fill in a form and highlight all the issues I have with the worktops and take it up with the office, which is what I did.

Placement of product – Now this is where their response is getting even more ridiculous, both worktops were placed in the same area of the kitchen, not even remotely close to a window, so don’t know where they get the BS from that the worktop was close to a window and the island not. Also as mentioned in my review above the look and texture of the two worktops were so visibly different that we got asked numerous times if we intentionally ordered it that way.

We ended up replacing the worktops at our cost and dropped the small claims court action we started against them as we were advised that the chances of recovering any funds in any award against them is very slim and that it will be better to stop throwing more good money after bad money.

Further update to their response - WE DROPPED the small claims action before it went to court as we didn't want to throw more good money after bad money as we had no reasonable chance of recovering any costs awarded in our favor

I am sorry you are unhappy with your purchase. I cannot change your review, but I can point out the facts to others reading. Of course you may feel dissatisfied with the circumstances that have occurred - cancelled deliveries. However, our company pays huge attention to the quality of the products delivered to the customer, if during loading or during tests performed after the end of production we find that the product is not suitable for installation, unfortunately it will not be imported and a new one will be made at our expense. Yes, it takes longer, but we guarantee good quality products. Unfortunately, accidents happen (cracks and unforeseen road situations) which are called acts of god and we are not responsible for them, however, it is very important for us that the ordered products in good condition are installed at the customer site as soon as possible.
After ordering you were supplied with a specification clearly - we insisted you check this and sign to confirm it was correct - which you did. We supplied your building to that specification. Rather than purchasing our standard product, you have choose the colour that you receive however the light in your kitchen is different as the kitchen worktop is placed by the window and the kitchen Island has no light. When the products are close to each other they are exactly the same and we cannot take responsibility for indoor lighting
You have also failed to point out that we did offer you a several other products made especially for you as good will gesture, which you declined because you wanted us to cover the full cost.
Whilst we are disappointed with your experience, I am very proud of my company and am convinced that our very high standards continue to be maintained.

******* UPDATE TO RIDICULOUS RESPONSE TO MY REPLIED *******

Thank you for your update Gerhardt, that is the fact and you are right that the person who writing this was not at your place, but she is in constant contact with people who have been there many times and because of the situation and we have very few of them in relation to the work performed, it is easy to remember. Sorry for the mistake regarding the position of the worktops and lighting - in fact there is illumination of the island through a velux window and the worktop stands against the wall and there is no such lighting, so that is why we have a difference in colour.
Our material is not only poured, it is sprayed, then each layer is laid out like a cake of 3-5mm, until we achieve the appropriate thickness of the concrete. The molds are also carefully made, as well as the entire processing of the concrete after it dries, therefore it is not a cheap material.
As we wrote earlier, it is not possible that the colours of your worktops are different because they were made of a mix to which no dyes are added. They are always the same. Nevertheless, we have done all the work for you from scratch in a completely different colour without charging any additional fees. You did not accept the new worktops made, you did not even allow it to be installed, even though it was already delivered to your home (also free of charge). At this point, we could not do anything more for you, so you went to court. However, the court also did not accepted your arguments. We are very sorry that the matter has ended this way, despite the fact that we have made every effort to ensure that our client is satisfied.

Happy with service and the product…

Happy with service and the product especially in relation to price which was very good indeed and the worktops look great, but prepare to deal with some communication difficulties if anything goes wrong. All in all, still recommended because they know what they are doing (we had problems with substandard quality builders before so we wanted to make sure this time, and requested samples before we even invited the company to come over and do measurements).

No worktop. No money.

If I can offer one piece of advice to anyone investing in a new kitchen it would be to read this and not use Stone Worktops or any other company they trade under (just try finding them on Companies House or any official details – it took us hours. All reviews are from 2019).

I’ve never left a review before but feel I have no choice on this occasion, other than to share my experience. I can honestly say it’s the worst customer service I have ever received. I was constantly chasing them for information, samples, photos even before I placed the order, always being told they’d be sent this week and nothing would appear but other reviews suggested I would get a good product at the end. They've used every excuse listed under their T&Cs as to why they didn’t show up for appointments or delayed installation, like they're going through a checklist. They had to complete the templating twice, claiming it was for my benefit when the first was actually unusable. Still I proceeded as I’d paid a sizeable deposit and by this stage needed a worktop quickly – I felt I had no choice. For the 3rd time they cancelled and postponed my installation, never with a phone call, explanation or apology but with a text or casual email stating a new date. I spent hours after these text or emails trying to get hold of someone on the phone – they had £1000 of my money – only to receive an email 24 hours later, stating that my questions could be answered by email. At one stage, I was told their heating had broken down and the cold weather was causing delays in drying. I then spoke to someone in their production team who’d completed the 2nd templating as again, I couldn’t get hold of the office. He told me that my worktop had only been poured 2 days previously and not the 9 days that Milena, the sales manager was claiming, as other customers had been prioritised. One of just many lies I discovered throughout process.

I tried cancelling my order as I had no faith I’d ever receive anything, let alone something I would be happy with. Again I couldn’t get hold of them by phone but the production staff sent me a text to say my refund was being processed. The following day I get another email to say they wouldn’t give me a refund as the new worktop had been made but they won’t or can’t send me any pictures.

So now I have no worktop and no money and they won’t answer the phone.

Thank you for your comment Laura. As you know, after the completion of the template service, the client should confirm all the details once again to enable further work. Unfortunately, in this case, we did not receive confirmation for a longer period, and then the client said that she wanted to cancel the order. The deposit is non-refundable, however the client has received a refund of the deposit paid despite our rules.

Concrete kitchen worktops fitted

Had concrete kitchen worktops fitted in the kitchen of a renovated flat in the Southside. Very professional attitude throughout, everything discussed even before the measuremnets were taken and we got samples before the worktops were made. Polite guys too, and very impressive moving those big weights around (including up the several flights of stairs in the tenement). I'd definitely recommended. They are based in Nottingham so it did take a while to get all the logistics sorted but so far well worth the wait, and even with the transport the price was very good.

Our concrete worktops from Stone Worktops arrived on time and the men who delivered and installed them were very helpful.
In fact the whole process was really clear and even the manufacturing was explained to us and was efficient and professional from the initial contact to delivery and fitting. I would certainly recommend this company if you want any polished concrete items made for you.

Aggressive payment demand

Very happy with concrete work tops and fitters were very helpful, competent and polite. Would have been 5 stars but for the unexpected and highly disappointing demand for final payment before tops could be unloaded and installed. I was truly amazed after the 2 required earlier payments had been made promptly and well in advance of delivery. Shame.

Great concrete Kitchen worktops

These guys made and fitted worktops and splashbacks for a kitchen in our refurbished house. It took a while to get everything ironed out but the final results were absolutely worth the effort and look stunning, and the price was very competitive too, in fact it was the lowest of three quotes we got. I'd definitely recommend.
