I had the most horrible experience of my life. I don't blame STS for the host family that i ended up with, but i would have appreciated STS's support and presence in order to be able to move to another family. Instead i did not feel safe at all and didn't have anyone to talk to. After years i am still horrified by my experience. I do not recommend STS

It was a great experience.

My two daughters were in 2017 and 2018 on a Language Travel with STS in England. We met with STS Vacanze Studio staff in Milan the first time and the professional impact was very good. The girls enjoyed the international groups in Oxford and Brighton. With one Hosting family we are still in contact. Also the other families were nice. I recommend the possibility to have your kid Not with italians but with other nationalities in the same Host Family.

I went for an Exchange Year in Scotland with STS and it was the best experience of my life. This year abroad gave me the possibility to really grow and learn more than I learnt during 5 years of High School. The organization was perfect, the support from the main office was constant and present as needed. The fact that shocked me the most was that even if they work every year with hundreds of students they remember their names and faces as they were their own children. I would recommend STS to everyone who want to do a short or long-term experience in a different country!

I will write this review in English for everybody to understand. My trip was about two years ago, the summer of 2016. Those of us traveling from the same airport met up together with the leader very early in the morning. We then landed in London and had to wait 3 hours for the Italian group to arrive to be able to take the bus to Brighton which was our destination. When in Brighton all of us didn't meet our host families so my friend and I had to wait additionally 1,5 hours after the two-hour bus ride for our family since a Spanish girl was going to live with us and her bus would arrive later. Finally, we got picked up by our host mom and arrived at the house, the three of us were going to share a 15 square meter bedroom along with our big suitcases. There was no space AT ALL and I wouldn't call the beds for beds since they were extremely uncomfortable so that we had to put towels under so to make it more comfortable. The family consisted of a couple and they only had one toilet, 5 people sharing just one toilet and if you were in the bathroom at the same time the family wanted to go to the bathroom you would get a knock on the door to come out.

The food we got had no nutrients, we were always hungry and had to buy a salad or snacks every day before meeting our group just to stay full during the day. My friend is also gluten intolerant and this was not taken into consideration by our host family since she got sick many times during our stay there. One time the host mom would cook a ton of potatoes to last for a whole week and the food would consist of frozen beef made from beans or pies with potatoes most of the days. One day when we asked about the food and that we didn't feel full when going to sleep she took it so personally that we never talked about the food again. We talked to our leader and wanted to change family, when she contacted "the office" they told her that we didn't have enough good reasons to change and because the family had never received complaints before. So we were three teenage girls sharing a 15 square meter room and had our big suitcases there, the bathroom was always occupied, we didn't get nutritious food and our host mom couldn't even stand a little bit of critic which made us talk to her as little as possible. You are not supposed to feel a tension as soon as you arrive home or be afraid of saying something that would make the host family angry when you have paid so much money for something that you have been looking forward to for such a long time.

When I was sick the first week and had to go home from the student party my leader didn't want me to go so I had to call my family to get their approval. She didn't even want to go home with me because "she couldn't" even though I lived in the center of the city. Another day when we came 5 minutes late to an activity our leader got very angry at us and meanwhile other students were smoking which according to STS is strictly forbidden. Nobody questioned their smoking.

STS will do everything it takes to make things as cheap as possible for them. For this three week trip, I paid about 24 000 Swedish crowns and it was absolutely NO quality what so ever. The don't quality check the families since they have trouble finding families for all the students buying these trips.
