Book sent to wrong address and cashback denied
Bought a good housekeeping subscription for my mother last Christmas which included a free recipe book. I used a link via Quidco to also get some cashback. Magazine seems to have been arriving regularly at my mothers but the book was sent to my card address which is in another part of the country.
Also my cashback was declined by Hearst on the grounds that “your at your purchase was either amended, returned or cancelled” which is nonsense.
Beware.
Beware of taking any subscriptions with…
Beware of taking any subscriptions with Hearst magazines,I had taken a subscription out in December 2020 for good housekeeping including the good housekeeping ultimate recipe collection book which was a free gift,I emailed hearst magazine's to ask where my book was at the end of January, I had a reply to say there was a delay and I've emailed again but had no satisfaction and no book,so beware of promises of free gifts that dont transpire with subscriptions.
I wish I had read all these reviews…utter rubbish
I wish I had read all these reviews before subscribing. I had set up and ordered good housekeeping magazine for my mother who lives in Cyprus and paid £58 for 10 issues with a cookbook which was supposed to be free and delivered to my house in England. Three months on, no magazines to my mother and no new cookbook to me.
Approximately 20 emails to them and several phone calls with various fake scripted apologetic people who didn’t log call, my 86 year old mother still hasn’t received her duplicate magazines I have now cancelled my subscription and they have refunded me. They tried to say it takes 15 working days to post a duplicate ((3weeks)) With regards to my cookbook they said my subscription never had this is part of my deal although it did. No point in arguing. I have now cancelled. Would have given 0 stars if it were possible.
Hearst Direct Debit
Following on from my previous review and complaint to our bank regarding Hearst taking money without our prior knowledge and basically Hearst breaking the DD rules, our bank have now made a full refund and I hope claim the funds back from Hearst. Our DD is now cancelled. Anyone having the same problem with Hearst should contact their bank. They shouldn’t just be allowed to get away with it!
AVOID
I wish id read these reviews before I took out a subscription. Im currently trying to cancel my subscription. Apparently I can only do this by logging into my account, clicking on my active subscription and clicking cancel. EXCEPT my subscription isn’t listed on my account and and there’s no way of adding it! When emailing them to tell them this they keep sending me the same email back telling me I need to cancel it on my account - useless.
For all you people out there having issues cancelling, just contact your bank and tell them to cancel the direct debit then email Hearst to tell them you have done this as a courtesy - problem solved.
Appalling company.
Appalling company.
Ordered an expensive Gift Box from them three weeks ago - and have yet to receive even a tracking number, despite chasing multiple times.
Terrible customer service, especially when charging premium prices
Subscription scam - out and out fraud
Haven't finished my number of subscriptions but they have automatically renewed and taken money without my consent. Definitely will never use again. Avoid at all costs.
Too much money taken from my account.
I recently purchased two red box gift sets for my daughters Xmas gifts. The price was £30 each and I was charged £90. When I called cust.services they told me the sets were £60 each not 30 which didn’t add up either, that would have been 120, so I was told I got a discount for buying two. There was no such discount applied. They plucked £90 out of thin air, £30 of which was my food shop money and was taken without my permission. I emailed a screen shot of with proof that price was indeed £30 each and asked for a refund. Really disappointed and would never shop here again. I wouldn’t have given 1 star if I didn’t have too.

My wife has had two subscription for the Good House Keeping Magazine for over 10 years, one for herself and one for a friend as a Christmas present. This years subscription renewal came through via email with a corresponding Link leading to their subscription website. It was impossible to log in her account despite providing the correct login details. I eventually asked for a password reset link but the link has not arrived 5 days later. Called their subscription renewal telephone number and ended up at call centre in Manila. The line was absolutely appalling and together with the Philippine/American accent of the Lady made communications almost impossible. I thought I managed renew the descriptions with payment taken from my credit card instead of agreeing to a direct debit from my wife's current account. Reading the reviews below that was a wise move. Today, two days later my wife received an email from Hearst Magazine with the delivery address details wrong. I shall cancel the subscriptions and as I paid by credit card, I am confident to get my money back. Do yourself a favour and avoid this dreadful outfit.

I wish I could give NO stars I am disgusted! I ordered the ELLE BEAUTY ADVENT CALENDER for 2020 - I received ZERO correspondence to say it was on the way or anything only a confirmation email. I went online and it’s out of stock so I rang them and they tell me it’s not available and sorry ma’am .... I was on the phone for 47 minutes trying to resolve it, I eventually got a supervisor on the phone who was saying that I have to wait 5 days because it ‘might’ come I said no and cancel it. She told me that she couldn’t process it after about 10 mins of asking why she’s a supervisor if she can’t do things like that she said ‘ok ma’am I will do it for you now’ SCAM SCAM SCAM
Do NOT go with! Just not worth it!
Absolutely useless customer services
Absolutely useless customer services. They advertised a beauty box at £48 instead of £60. Impossible to get.
One reply droned on about subscription prices varying -nothing to do with a possible purchase!
My wife gave up, & I tried but it was an impossible task.
Pitiful - subscribe at your peril
Do not subscribe - despite contacting Hearst to cancel before receiving the last issue of the publication (on the day the issue before the last in the subscription arrived), you will be auto renewed, the funds for the next wave of publications will be taken from your account and you will not be able to get a refund. Their customer service is pitiful... You will get the same or even a better deal and won't need to be locked in to a direct debit here: magazine.co.uk or isubscribe.co.uk
Most definitely the worst company I…
Most definitely the worst company I have ever dealt with. I have not received a free gift that was supposed to be part of a deal. Weeks later and several phone calls and emails and it still isn’t resolved. The level of incompetence when dealing with these people over the phone and via email is astounding! They are absolutely hopeless. Never again!
Absolutely awful customer service
Absolutely awful customer service. I ordered a 6 month subscription for £9.99 at the beginning of September. I didn’t receive any confirmation until around the end of September to say my magazine would be despatched and my free gift would arrive later. This was a nice surprise as I didn’t realise I would get a free gift. This is now the end of October and nothing has arrived.
I have sent endless emails asking why it is taking so long where is my magazine and free gift. The only answer I got was I wasn’t entitled to a gift and I would receive the December issue. I set up an online account in order to see the status of my account to see I had been charged £15.00! When I queried this I was told that’s what the deal was!!!
I asked to cancel my subscription but I was told I would have to log on to the site, even this is a problem as it now says it doesn’t recognise my details!
I am now in the process of tweeting the CEO. I am so angry with the service and treatment !!!!
Worst company I have ever encountered
Worst company I have ever encountered.
Ordered two digital magazines in August and still have not received them. Contacted the site multiple times with no real response.
Finally received a message after wanting to cancel my subscription since they have not delivered on their services. I was told it was my Spam filters fault and not their own. Please do remind me how the same filter did not stop your message about canceling?
Thieves. Avoid!!!
How is this company even in business
How is this company even in business. I am surprised that Amazon endrses them. I ordered a gift subscription for a friend backin January as a gift for Valentines day. First issue was to arrive late Feb early March. It is now Sept 1st and not one has ever arrived. I have dealt with amazon about it and they have been helpful but can only do so much. Multiple emails to Hearst and never returned. If I could give this company a -5 I would. Dont' waste your time or money.
Back issues of magazines VERY LATE
Ordered back issues of magazines during lockdown which took over a month to arrive. They never tell you when they will send out anything.
As I did receive my magazine I thought I’d do it again in July - still waiting a month later - should have just gone to the shops! When magazines are going out of business this company really isn’t helping itself.
Awful!
Awful!
I wish I could give no stars. As another review has said I paid for a subscription and to avoid repeat/continued subscription later also cancelled auto renew. That makes no difference.
I emailed on the day they took payment and they told me as I had a direct debit I could not cancel and they have a cancel on expiry policy.
I feel so angry to be fobbed off. They are purposely unclear. Magazines were also very late at times.
Really disappointing.
Ordered 1 subscription and in…
Ordered 1 subscription and in preparation for any confusion later, I cancelled that same subscriptions auto renewal option. Still, 4 months later, was charged a much higher price for the renewal I previously cancelled!
DO NOT USE THEIR SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE
I signed up for a 6 month gift subscription, which auto renewed. Every time I have emailed them to try to amend this I get a copy and paste response. It seems that they are unable to engage in an actual conversation.
