We were told about Suburban propane
We were told about Suburban propane. And we found out why people was saying they would rip us off. The man that came out to put the propane tank in lied about what he done to the tank to set it. Which charged us 234.00 to come and set the tank. We was told there would be 150.00 to bring the tank out. Any way to screw their customers. It's sad that a company would do that. It's hard enough the way the economy is right now and they want to screw us that much more.

If I could enter less than 1 star I would. Suburban is nothing but lies. I’m helping a 100 year old mom ( this isn’t a typo, she’s really 100). This company should be ashamed of themselves for what they are putting her through. Word of mouth is the best advertising and trust me, I’m telling everyone to stay away from these liars and thieves.
I wish there was a 0 star rating
I wish there was a 0 star rating. Suburban price gouges and screw people over as much as possible. Now they say they will charge me to pick up their tanks. I will never pay these crooked pos gougers.
The stupidity
The stupidity, the rudness, the astronomical prices, the lies they tell...where do I start? And the corporate office will back up their stupidity. Go anywhere else and spare yourself the aggravation. (Washington)
Terrible customer service
Like the recent reviewer, we also have been suburban propane customers since 1999. I recently called on a Friday for a tank of propane and was told "next week." After several more calls the next week they finally told me I was scheduled for Friday. Friday came and went and I finally called today, Saturday.. the driver noted that there was a chain across our driveway and he could not enter. There is no chain near our driveway.. nowhere in this entire block. No one called about this or even to tell us they couldn't deliver! They took our money and simply didn't deliver what we paid for and didn't even call us! This isn't even bad customer service. They don't know where we live after over 20 years??? Oh yes, and during the final phone call the woman said something about a 5% fee for emergency delivery?? They wanted to charge us MORE for their mistake!!! STAY AWAY from this company!!!

had a great experience with Austin at the Boise Idaho Franklin site, very polite, knowledgeable, patient in literally assembling custom modifications for my outdoor BBQ I desired allowing me to connect either to my " stub out " source on the deck from my buried tank, or connect to a small 5 gallon tank in the garage in bad weather!! receptionist also very accomodating!
Suburban has gone downhill
We’ve been with Suburban Propane since 1999.
We recently had our tank topped off and they charged us almost $1.00 more than the competitors.
Then the technician discovered a leak on September 21st and turned off our gas. They wouldn’t get the technician to come back until October 7th. No heat, no cook stove! Asked twice to speak with a manager and nobody has ever returned my call. When our tank is empty, we’re switching to a better company. The customer service at Suburban is HORRIBLE!
Unfortunate - Wilmington NC
Wilmington location as well as numerous other service locations across the country have all proven themselves inept and unable to resolve an issue that they caused by their own internal failure of communication...but it's my fault they screwed up and now have a late fee and late bill for a delivery request I canceled by speaking on the phone with their team.
I'll be moving my service this year. Their rates are too high and their service is abysmal.
Side note: Wow - not surprised to see such a terrible score here on this platform. The amazing reviews left on Google must be paid for. Suburban propanes company organization is too big and too disorganized. Stick to small businesses and you'll rarely come across this particularly hellish version of disfunctional corporate bull.
This is the worst company I have EVER…
This is the worst company I have EVER used. I bought a house in 2019 with a leased underground propane tank. I was told “there’s only three years left on the lease,” assuming I would pay lease for three years and then own it (never having used propane before). 2 years in I called to ask when I would own it exactly because Suburban is charges me DOUBLE what other companies charge! Staff told me I would never own it.
My contract states that they can sell the tank in ”certain” situations, they just refuse to do so even though information was mis-communicated to me and I did not fully understand what I was signing. Additionally, this company has said to me, “an underground leased tank… that’s very unusual.” No kidding! Why do they do this?!
The tank is probably 15 years old and I offered to buy it from them! They still say no and that they will sandblast it, refurbish it, and then reuse it. I told them my yard is completely fenced now so removal would be inconvenient. They don’t care. They said they will bring a crane to remove it. How is more cost effective than letting me buy this old underground tank?! Also, they say I must excavate it. No company will do this for less than $1000 and I was told it’s so close to the concrete holding one of my deck posts up that a jack may need to brought it to hold my deck up so it doesn’t collapse, which will cost even more. I will also have to remove part of my fence to have necessary equipment brought it. I have tried to compromise with this company but they want to bleed my dry. My cost per gallon is SO high. They have my usage amount way lower than it really is because of past delivery screw ups on their end.
The manager was nice and supposedly asked his boss if they could sell the tank to me. He said just wanting to own it wasn’t a good enough reason. That’s not my only reason!
I plan to rent an above ground from another company. This tank will stay put for now and rot. I am looking for into hiring a lawyer. They will still charge my the yearly rental amount even if I refuse to use this equipment.
They charged me almost three times the…
They charged me almost three times the market rate earlier this year. I asked them why their prices were so high and they told me that they are selling at market rate. I told them that the local Chevron was $2.70 a gallon and they stated it's because they buy in bulk. Well, they are a propane company that supplies propane to the gas stations. How do they not get a bigger discount. Anyway, their competitor is $2.32 a gallon and the install is next week. The tank rental with the new company is $65 per year. I couldn't book them fast enough. No more Suburban Propane!!!

Can never reach local office in santa rosa, CA. When I do reach them they are rude and not very knowledgeable. Been a customer for as long as they took over my route. Luckily I am moving so I just canceled service and payment, what
do you bet they now contact me. How shameful.
$80 charge for 2.6 gallons of propane
They showed up yesterday & pumped 2.6 gallons into my nearly-full tank. I did not ask them to come & I’m not on automatic refill. This propane is only for my fireplace & who burns fires in Florida in August? But my biggest beef is they charged me $80. For two gallons! It’s called a minimum fee! Crooks!
Worst company EVER!!!
Worst company EVER!!!! Customer service is just PLAIN terrible. Nobody in the WHOLE organization knows ANYTHING about service.
And be advised, if you sign up with them you WILL eventually cancel your service because of how INEPT they are, they will charge you $150 for terminating your account with them. GUARANTEED!
As a new customer
As a new customer, requiring propane for our newly built home, we were impressed with the professionalism and efficiency provided by Suburban Propane's installer, Scott Burns. Scott checked out every inch of our new propane line from the tank location to the actual cooktop burners. When Scott left, we knew we had a safe and viable product. Thank you, Suburban.
Horrible Customer Service
This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with !!! Customer Service is horrible. They speak over you and have no compassion towards their customers. If I had a choice (which I don't... I live in a Mobile Home Community that only uses them) ... I'd go with a different company. If you are looking for a propane company, please look elsewhere and read their MANY horrible reviews.
Any other company would be better
If you have their equipment on your property, get it taken off asap. This is easily one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with, and by far one of the worst local offices. Donna is who you will deal with most, and she will refuse to do her job or be unhelpful for fun. She will speak over you, talk down to you, blame you and do everything but take accountability. Management is no better. I was hung up on by a "supervisor" named Alex after complaining about a $100 overcharge and broken equipment. Then the same thing happened with another "supervisor" named Kevin. They give these employees the option to fix escalated situations, but they choose not to. I can't say it enough, any other company would be better. Their communication is terrible, they're constantly raising prices without notice, and if you're new to using gas too bad because they won't help.
I was a Suburban customer since 2003…
If I could give them "0" stars I would! I was a Suburban customer since 2003 and just canceled my new contract (for 2022-23) Terrible customer service. Billing mistakes every year. Last refill was 6/1/22 before new contract goes into effect 7/2022. They raised my price on delivery even though I had a locked in price. I called to request a credit and the manager in Howell NJ (Russel) denied it. So I shopped around and got a price that was almost $1.50 per gallon cheaper! They ripped me off for years and I would not recommend them. Check out employees reviews they give them terrible rating.

Horrible Customer Service
Horrible Customer Service. Have been a customer for 3 years. Have been told multiple times that I'm on an automatic fill program - this has NEVER happened. Called to have tank filled - told them it was empty... I was informed that it would be filled in 7 - 10 days. OK. On the 17th day I was told "they've been busy".
If I could give negative stars
If I could give negative stars, I would. They charged us 2 1/2 times market rate to refill our tank, when we didn't need or request a refill. Their contract is a scam contract that allows them far too much leeway to charge whatever they like. They suck people in with their initial promotional offer, and then price gouge. I would never recommend, nor use this business ever again.
Horrible over charged for propane like…
Horrible over charged for propane like double of the competitor and when we asked them to get there tank they charged to remove the tank after they left it sitting in my yard for months after telling them to come pick up worst company ever don't use !!!
