Best outdoor shop

Been using summits for a couple of years now and cannot fault them.

Friendly knowledgeable staff, who care about helping and always have time for questions.

Family run independent shop with loads of stock and ranges, and can even source non stock items.

Competitive pricing and insanely good delivery, make this my go to supplier

Can't and won't stop recommending them to anyone and everyone.

Avoid like the plague – blatant lies and zero reliability

I honestly wish I could give Summit Outdoors zero stars. This has been, without a doubt, the most frustrating and dishonest retail experience I’ve ever had.

I ordered a Rab Black Valiance jacket in early January because their website claimed it was in stock. A day later, the excuses started: "system errors," "stock discrepancies," and the classic "it won’t be delivered on time." Despite the red flags, I agreed to let them order it directly from the supplier because I needed the jacket for a trip.

The lies kept coming:

The Guarantee: They "guaranteed" the jacket would arrive by January 18th—just in time for my trip.

The Ghosting: January 18th came and went. No jacket. No update. I had to chase them for answers.

The Runaround: I spoke to four different staff members during a month-long email chain. Every single one of them gave me a different story, but they all had one thing in common: they were lying.

The Final Straw: After over a month of waiting and being told it was on its way, they finally admitted they never even placed the order. They don't have the jacket, they aren't getting the jacket, and they wasted weeks of my time.

It is absolutely unacceptable to lie to customers to keep their money. This place is a joke. I was recommended here by friends, but I will be telling everyone I know to stay far away. Utterly incompetent and completely untrustworthy.

Hi Rodger, we are sorry again for the hassle this order became for you. As a small family-run company, we strive to keep our customers happy, but can see this has not been the case here!

To clarify, we did have a stock issue: you bought a size and colourway we didn't seem to have in stock, which is rare but can happen. Rab was due to receive more stock on the 14th, so we placed an order with them, expecting them to be sent out as soon as they arrived.

You contacted us to ask what was happening, and our team told you that a Rab delivery was due imminently and assumed your jacket was included in this order. When it didn't arrive, we immediately asked Rab what had happened, and we were then told they hadn't arrived at Rab and therefore were not sent to us.

Once we knew this, we offered the other colour options (including an extra discount) or a full refund along witha discount code to buy anything else you would like, which you opted for. We did not intend to let you down and we can only apologise again for this. We have never been let down by Rab before, so we assumed everything would be fine with this order.


You have every right to leave a negative review for this experience, but I would like to clarify a few discrepancies within your review:
- We hadn't guaranteed an exact delivery date, as our emails had stated we would turn it around as soon as Rab got it to us.
- We didn't ghost you as we responded as soon as you emailed us, explaining the situation we were in.
- We didn't give any run around, as we did have the order placed with Rab (not sure why you think we didn't place the order at all?).
- As for the time scale, this all occurred from the 28th when you bought the jacket to the 19th when you were refunded so it was not over a month.

We are sorry again for this hassle and for letting you down, but hopefully this helps clarify our side and point out that we were trying our best to get you the jacket you wanted at the best price.

Had not realised the store was as close in Paisley either so a visit in store is likely. 👍🏻

Excellent Customer Service

I purchased a pair of Targhee Hiking shoes from Summits Outdoor, but found they did not agree with me. Summits were brilliant in dealing with my concerns. Excellent customer service I shall certainly use Summits Outdoor as my first port of call for all future purchases.

Excellent Service

Ordering the two sets of walking poles extremely easy to do online & prompt delivery. On receiving them within 24 hours - impressive - a small problem was found that one of the poles would not hold in place when height adjustment made. On telephoning the company spoke with a very pleasant gentleman who immediately gave instructions how to rectify this. This family run company deserves 10/10 for service,attitude towards the customer & help - a rarity nowadays. Will recommend all of my friends.

Dealing with Summit has been easy

Dealing with Summit has been easy, great Website by the way, fast easy and when you have a problem they react.

I had to call them and spoke to Anna, what a helpful and pleasant lady, a credit to the business.

Bought a Rab Jacket, great price, great product just wish I was closer to their store as I would love to pop in and say hi, its good to know that a family run business has the ability to compete and outclass the big web players along with being friendly and customer focused!

Great products and service

I ordered Vango tent, footprint and tarp. Very competetive pricing, good range and stock levels so I could buy all the items together in one transaction. Dispatch was very prompt and delivery was quick and on time. I would have no hesitation recommending Summits Outdoor and purchasing from them again.

Returns process simple

I purchased some footwear online. Unfortunately the footwear were unsuitable and I returned them. Sadly there were no alternative footwear suitable and I asked for a refund. The refund was processed the same day they received the footwear back. Thank you for a hassle free service.

Easy buying experience

An easy buying experience: Website is easy to navigate, prices are VERY keen. Delivery was quick too (next day to Scottish Islands). Have bought a couple of items from Summits Outdoor now, happy to keep going back.

Rossignol Ski Purchased

I’ve just purchased a pair of Rossignol Skis from Summit. Absolutely brilliant service from a very attentive and friendly company.
I ordered and paid for the skis on their website. I followed up with a phone call to check how long the order would take to process. Anna was brilliant. She told me they would be prepared and despatch in 2 days, spot on. She followed up with an email to ask if I wanted their technician to set up my bindings, I gave her the settings (perfectly set up when they arrived). Anna sent me an email the next day to confirm despatch. I live in Northern Ireland so the DPD delivery took 2 days as expected. Skis arrived perfectly and securely packaged. So refreshing to deal with a small local company with fantastic service. Thank you to Anna and the team at Sunmit. If you need new skis I’d thoroughly recommend them. Robert Blair (Northern Ireland)

Not 24 hour delivery as advertised

Not 24 hour delivery as advertised. Ordered on Friday morning expecting a Monday delivery as needed items for a holiday on Wednesday. Not arrived Monday, get a message on Tuesday to say will be Wednesday delivery which will be too late. Really frustrating.
