Aliant YLP14 - read first…

This is the first negative review I've written and, truth be told, I'd rather not be writing it. I'm doing it because every fact below can be checked, and because the next person searching this battery deserves to find them.
The good news first: Superbike Unlimited ships fast, and the Aliant YLP14 is a beautifully made little battery while it works.
The bad news: mine lasted six months. Bought February 2026 ($245), installed in a garaged bike, kept on a charger in LiFePO4 mode between rides, dead in September at 6.97 volts.
I asked for a warranty claim on September 16 with two plain questions: does this battery have a low-voltage cutoff, and when was mine built? For four weeks the answer was "awaiting the manufacturer." On October 12, SBU wrote: "Aliant does not promise, nor do we, that this battery/BMS serves as some sort of self-shutdown/disconnect should the voltage drop below any threshold." Earlier, SBU had written that in fifteen years it has no documented YLP failure "that was not induced by customer discharge or improper use." Suffice it to say those two sentences describe one thing: a battery with no protection against discharge, whose every failure is therefore filed under the customer.
SBU offered to test the battery if I'd agree to pay all testing costs "if the battery is found to have been discharged, incorrectly charged or misused in any way." It reads 6.97 volts; any test will find it discharged. When I asked for a cause-based protocol instead, I was told the discussion was inappropriate, referred to Aliant, and informed SBU is "not responsible for warranty management or decisions from manufacturers."
Aliant's own published terms (General Conditions of Supply, go-aliant.com) are business-to-business, run twelve months, and exclude "deep discharge ... (UNDERVOLTAGE ERROR)." SBU's product page states no warranty period at all. In fairness, it does recommend disconnecting any lithium battery not in use for more than seven days; I kept mine on a maintainer instead, which I'd argue is the better practice, but you should know the line is there.
I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I'm reporting that a $245 starter battery with no low-voltage protection, sold under terms that exclude low voltage, failed at six months, and that the seller's position is that this is never the product. If you're a serious person about what goes in your bike, you would be well served to read that last sentence twice before you order.

Place is a joke

Place is a joke. Waiting 2 months for an exhaust that was defective and didnt work on my motorcycle. Anyone with basic mechanical experience let alone 15 years working on vehicles and working in maintenance would know that the part was not designed for my vehicle. They claim user error but can’t provide proof that they can get it to work themselves. I Provided proof that it didnt work for 2 weeks and was then provided a return label. After 1 week they received the item. After calling every week for 3 weeks i was issues a partial refund for a defective product with more than enough proof that it didnt work. I called asking for a full refund and was belittled and was told I failed to provide evidence. Two guys who i talked to both called me liars and failed to provide ME with the evidence that I “ failed to provide evidence “ even though I still have every email saved. Don’t waste your time and money at this place.

YAMAHA R6 2009 RACE ECU FLASH

YAMAHA R6 2009 RACE ECU FLASH

I would like to start with some background on this review: I own (2) 2009 Yamaha Yzf-R6, the first is used for track and the second one is used for street. My track bike has been equipped with a full LeoVince Factory S exhaust system, block of plates, an OEM air filter (Per SBU recommendation), Dunlop Q5S tires and other modifications. My street bike is stock with the exception of a GYTR exhaust (cat delete with stock headers). Both of them have similar milage and service dates with the exact same oil and filter. With that said I can give a direct comparison of a stock r6 next to a slightly modified r6 with the ecu flashed.

Starting with my track R6: After installing the mods mentioned earlier and attending some track days I noticed that the bike’s performance did not benefit from just these modifications alone, actually it reduced some of its power on the lower side of the RPM’S making it run lean (checked the spark plugs). I new my next step was to eventually get the bike’s AFR more in tone with the LeoVince exhaust, so first I considered an external fuel management system to “piggyback” the ecu, second I considered doing an ecu flash. After some research I came across with the SBU Race flash, not only do they offer to install a fuel map specific to your modifications but also get the rest of capabilities unrestricted from factory so that you have 100% of the bike’s performance to your disposal with the added benefit of reducing engine braking, bypassing the O2 sensor, temp fan kick in times and some other features listed on their description. I opt for this option and purchased the service, once the order processed I received a questionary to select my preferences and include the mods done to my bikie, I also called asking about some questions that I had and sent my ecu for flashing, turnaround time was great and finally installed the ecu on my bike.

Results: Since I had to compare both bikes, I rode them on the exact same place where I could test acceleration, attempting a top speed, corner entry for engine braking and engine temperature. First I rode the track R6 (with the SBU flash) and felt the results immediately!, acceleration was ridiculously fast, quick and linear giving me the feeling that I was now controlling 100% of the throttle, reached 167mph on 6th gear with a lot more RPM’s left (my guess is that it can do a lot more than that), up and down shifting was butter smooth even without quick shifter or blip assist, engine braking was significantly reduced, and temperature staid constant and cooler. Second, I rode the stock R6 and that’s when I noticed the real difference, acceleration was slower, took more time to reach high speeds, shifting was ok but definitely not as smooth, engine braking was high and made the rear tire slide a bit when quickly downshifting and temperature increased significantly.

Conclusion: This is the best mod you can do to your R6 in terms of engine performance/price, even if you have a stock bike you will still benefit from unlocking the ecu, now if you have a good chassis setup and already invested in some basic performance parts like tires, exhaust systems, air filters, block of plates, etc. this ecu flash will be the key to exploit everything to its intended use and get the most out of your bike!.

100% recommend!

Amazing

I had a bad flash from 2WD my 19 MT10 was running very rich and back firing very bad at 4500 rpm. I called SBU talked to Freddy he was so helpful and scheduled me on short notice early in the morning at 9 their time. It was a 3 hr drive for me but we’ll worth the drive there. Every one was super nice and Freddy was amazing with his custom flash and dyno. Fix all the issues and explain everything. Even got 15 more hp.

Awesome company, great service.

Awesome company. Very helpful I spent about a week asking questions regarding the FTecu products for my Yamaha R1 2016 and the guys were really helpful. I then ordered the parts and they sent the goods over from the states and they arrived correctly and within 5 days!. If only we had customer service like that in the UK!.Thanks guys and will definitely be using you in the future for more of my race parts.
