Super C (Canada) - Atwater Store & Instacart

13 September 2025

A few months ago, I tried Super C online grocery delivery, served by InstaCart, and the order was screwed up completely, to the point that their “system”, or whoever operates it in the back end, substituted a "500 Error" page for my order, hiding the fact that half my order was missing and not delivered and not accounted for by substitutions or missing products.

Months went by, so I tried Super C again. The order worked fine the second time, about 2 weeks ago. So I ordered again yesterday for a delivery on 13 September 2025, and they screwed it up severely again.

This time, they omitted the cooked BBQ chicken at $12.99 CAD plus tax, and the semi-sweet chocolate chips at $15.49 plus tax. They made no mention of these two products, but my bill was high enough to have included them... however, the order & the bill disappeared from the Super C online system when I tried to get a refund.

Super C moreover ADDED a product I had not ordered, a huge case of tins of diet Coke for over $17 plus tax, plus the 5c return per can, an item which today isn’t even IN the Super C online inventory.

I logged in to try to get a refund. The system offers the right to reduce the shopper’s tip. I reduced it to zero, because I had also unfortunately given him $5 cash at the door before unpacking my three red bags.

The shopper-delivery driver is one and the same person, and is sent by Instacart, a different company than Super C, but several online grocers have decided to do business with them. I had moreover complained about this particular shopper-driver the last time because he phoned me up yelling, claiming there was no apartment 7 in my building.

I said, I’ve lived here 11 years, I’m here now, I assure you, 7 is on the doorbells. He kept yelling, so I said take the groceries back, cancel the order. That’s when he found the doorbell and I buzzed him in.

They sent the SAME guy again today, on behalf of Instacart, and he eliminated over $30 worth of items I had ordered, and charged me over $20 for cans of drinks I had not ordered and were not a substitute.

The Super C online system let me demand a refund for the tip, but refused to refund anything else, and to make matters worse, it DELETED the order, along with photos and item details and prices, so I can’t prove I ordered the BBQ chicken and the chocolate chips.

In all, I’ve been robbed for over $50 online by a lousy InstaCart shopper in league with somebody in the back end who can manipulate the system itself to pull a fast one on the customer by adding items the store doesn't even have, and by deleting an entire order to hide the monkey business.

I’ve had two run-ins with Instacart in the past, as an individual company; I was not their client, I had signed up to see what products they could deliver, I did not accept their annual fee and I never used them. However, on two occasions, many months apart, Instacart grabbed an annual fee out of my bank account, and I had to fight to get my money back.

Instacart is a very dishonest company, and when combined with sympathetic smart-alecks inside Super C’s online system, you risk being rolled over by these kids pulling fast ones, which is why I won't be doing business again with Super C online.

I phoned Super C head office, they gave me the store number, and told me to call the manager on Monday. This review is in advance.
