Bait and Switch
I placed an order with SuperHandy at approximately 10:55 AM. Five minutes later, at 11:00 AM, I contacted them to cancel because I had forgotten to apply a discount code and intended to reorder.
SuperHandy acknowledged my cancellation request and, for more than 24 hours, repeatedly told me they were contacting their warehouse to cancel the order. At approximately 6:00 PM the following day, I was suddenly informed that the order had shipped and that I would now be charged a 15% restocking fee if I returned it.
I believe this conduct amounts to a bait-and-switch that effectively trapped me into either keeping an order I timely canceled or paying SuperHandy 15% to return it. Had they immediately told me cancellation was impossible, that would be different. Instead, they led me to believe for more than 24 hours that my cancellation was being handled, then shipped the product and attempted to impose a substantial fee.
My cancellation was submitted only five minutes after ordering. According to them, a 140lb wood chipper was pulled, packed, and shipped in less than 5 minutes after me submitting my order. SuperHandy's own policy describes this 15% charge as a "Restocking Fee for Buyer's Remorse." This is not buyer's remorse. I immediately canceled the transaction and have documentation of the entire timeline.
