What an evening with Kevin Keegan

We had a lovely evening at the Kevin Keegan event at the Mercure Hotel, Northampton. The event was entertaining, engaging and the event seemed well organised, the highlight of the evening though was meeting Kevin, having a photo and a moment to chat. What a lovely, humble, amusing man, it certainly left a really uplifting impression. As a child, he was a legend and he did not disappoint.

Avoid

Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to expectations in any way. I’d give zero stars if possible.

My husband and 11 year old son attended one of the events in Belfast and spent approximately two hours queuing and never heard or met any of the speakers despite having the ‘gold’ tickets. As a result, they were unable to meaningfully participate in or enjoy any of the experience they had paid for (and it was expensive) before having to leave. It was very obvious too many tickets had been sold.

I fully appreciate that popular events will involve some waiting, and my complaint was never that there were queues. My concern was that the queue times were so significant that attendees were unable to access the advertised activities within the event timeframe.

When I raised this with the organiser, I was offered complimentary tickets for a future event, but I did not feel my concerns had been properly addressed. I requested that a refund or partial refund be considered instead and received no further response.

Others may have had a different experience, but based on ours, I felt the event was oversubscribed relative to what attendees could realistically access and the customer service afterwards was disappointing.

DONT BUY PLATINUM TICKETS 🎫 FRAUD

We bought platinum tickets with four emojis promising 👕signed 1993 shirt 🥘3 course meal 🍷drinks 📸meet n greet . On arrival we got given a card saying platinum £250 each btw . Theyvsaid go sit at table you will get called for photo and cance to chat n meet the legends . We got called along with 40 odd others and were given 5 secs if that to get a photo and walk on and then they invited gold tickets holders down to pay a tenner for a photo . Queue was an hour long . Then we asked for the signed shirt and theybsaid oh theres a slight problem we disnt know anything about it but come at end and we will find something . They then proceeded to bring the 1992/3 shirts to the auction stage all signed and said first twelve people to offer £325 each for the shirts get them . People were not happy and were given all different messages from ya getting nothing to we ll find something to you ll get them at end of night . At end of night after a queue of annoyed people gathered they suddenly said follow us and from a cupboard produced red cotton t shirts signed by players that werent even there and the signatures didnt match as people compared them . Clearly made in a onic in the back room and copied signatures from an origonal shirt in the auction . The difference in price is as £140. Also it was a one course minimal meal not 3 course / the drink was 2 bottles of wine between 10 people / no meet n greet n chat . They said if you bought your ticket before december it was wring and they changed the deal and prices in december on wensite and took out the 3 cours and signed shirt but failed to inform anyone . Shame when the players were fantastic and cared we were all there. Put us off going to anymore. People who paid gold got same apart from cruddy t shirts signed by not sure who but defo not authentic . Ya dont say ya havent got any or ya getting something else and suddenly produce Loads with brian robsons and gigs autograph on and they werent even there . They could do alot better by caring about the paying customers and not just there bank account and the players . The actual starspeakers staff look like they wanted as much money for raffle auction and photos as possible and didnt care about customer experience whatsoever .not a penny to charity in sight considering they sold dodgy raffle tickets with wrong matching numbers and did a racket on the auction. VERY DISSAPOINTED .

Brilliant night -Duncan Ferguson

Brilliant night in Chester with Duncan Ferguson. Duncan was approachable, cared about his fans and was very funny. He's an absolute legend. Loved the ability to have a photo taken with him and for him to sign a shirt. Was great paying for the Platinum ticket experience and would love to see Duncan again maybe with other Everton legends like Reid, Beagrie, Southall.

Good points of Man United Legends…

Good points of Man United Legends evening. The speakers were excellent very interesting and funny great to hear their stories and the audience participation was also good along with the compere
The rest of the evening was very disappointing. We had paid for Gold tickets when we got to the table we had our backs to the stage luckily there was just enough room to turn the chair round when the speakers were on also the room was cold ended up sitting in my coat. I have never had such poor food processed chicken burger cold chips it was disgusting and my partner who is vegan wasn't even given an option after asking a veggie burger was provided needless to say no food was consumed. Although the even is 5 hours the speakers are on just under an hour the rest is auctions and serving food Would go to another event like this but most definitely not through this company felt really ripped off 3 stars are for the speakers only

Hotel Football Ian Botham event

Went to "Hotel Football" at Old Trafford for the Lord Ian Botham event on the 26th March. Ian was excellent, but the venue was unsuitable. Tables crammed so tightly together, so that it was impossible to get out to go to the bar or toilet. Surely at the very least somewhat dangerous from a fire safety point of view. The venue was freezing cold, which didn't help. As for the "food", the advertised meal of "ballotine of chicken with black pudding, potatoes and seasonal vegetables" was replaced with a cold oversized chicken nuggets on a bun with a side of frozen chips. So hard that I may need a visit to my dentist. To say it was disappointing is an understatement. Thanks to Ian Botham and Geoff Miller for at least making their part of the evening entertaining.

Worst Sportsman type dinner venue I’ve…

Worst Sportsman type dinner venue I’ve ever been to. Hosted in the basement bar of Hotel Football. The event was clearly massively oversold as the tables were completely jammed in, impossible to get in and out. The food bore no resemblance to the menu advertised and was simply plates of burgers, take one and pass them on along with the cold chips because the waitresses couldn’t get near the tables. Very poor view of the speakers as the room was so overcrowded. Geoff Miller was the saving grace he was brilliant in his story telling and just about keeping Sir Ian Botham going, he is a legend but the poor fella looked shattered and was clearly worn out. My advice go to a proper Sportsmen’s Dinner and not one run by this conveyor belt operation

Nothing was too much hassle

Nothing was too much for any of the guys or staff. At one point my 12 year old son tried to get a selfie with Clayton Blackmore. Needless to say it didn't work. But Clayton came back and stood for the photo. Amazing man. I purchased the signed armband and asked Bryan Robson to put it on my sons arm. No problem and no issues. I have the video to prove it. People say never meet your heros. In this case DO!!!!

Beware the ACTUAL start time

It might be an idea to advise people what time the actual event starts as the ticket and site all said 6pm for the Everton Legends in Belfast on Friday night. Instead we sat through over 2 hours of watching people queuing to get a photo taken before the finally came on stage at about 8.10. The compere only ventured on stage twice during this to try and sell ballots. At least one of the players was drunk and some were forgetting what they were saying mid answer. Then they had a break where they auctioned shirts and tried to sell more ballots. The tickets were expensive enough for what this was but the price of the addons for meet and greet or photos were really excessive. It just felt like the point of the evening was to get as much money from you for as little effort as possible. I've no idea how it went after the interval as we'd already left by then. I loved all these guys as players but no way i'd ever attend another one of these.

First time I’ve ever attended

First time I’ve ever attended an event like this. I loved it but would like to have heard more from them. It felt the auction was longer than the players chatting

A fantastic night

A fantastic night - all four guests were thoroughly entertaining and totally engaging with their stories of yesterday year . Bryan Robson in particular was brilliant, leading the other three on stage just as he did on the pitch. Would recommend any Utd fan to grab the opportunity to see these stars wherever they get the chance.

Would like the chance to see Ruud van Nistlerooy if possible thanks.

Dreadful event

When leaving this review it says this company has breached review rules by paying incentives, not surprising. I never give reviews and have definitely not received any incentive to leave this one (I’m also guessing it will be well hidden)…. I treated my Man U mad son, husband and father-in-law to this as part of their Christmas presents. So glad I didn’t go for the premium tickets. It was the biggest waste of money. The very very small portion of talking about the actual football was great, the rest was all auctions and stories of drinking and partying, very long and very boring. My family (and many others) left before the end. Will not be purchasing from Superstar Speakers again, very disappointing.
