Surfer SEO was a colossal mistake. After trusting its tools and “SEO optimization” checklist for my e-commerce category and product pages, I revised nearly 150 pages across my site. Only later — and after Google’s recent E-E-A-T updates — did I realize Surfer’s guidance was geared toward blog-style wording, not transactional content.

The result: in just two months I lost about 1,500 keyword rankings and significant visibility. Overall my site was classified as informational due to their wording. I’m now having to redo every category and product page with proper Google-aligned, shopping-focused SEO tactics.

If you run an online store, be cautious — Surfer is not built for true transactional SEO and can do more harm than good.

I spent roughly $250 for 2 months. To add insult to injury, there were additional international credit card fees as they’re not in the US and I wasn’t made aware of prior to purchasing.

Does not load searches , writes awful unrealetd content just to fill in keywords. Their humanisation app in a total mess.
But worst of all you pay for kewyords access and even that has issues all the time " their developers " are aware of teh issues but can not fix it and meanwhile you waste subscription money

Do not want affect the rating of a legit company that’s why I left a rating ….however, There are scammers using the Surfer name though. If you are contacted via dm, which they did me, it’s a scam.They are convincing though but don’t fall
For it. I sent copies of our DMs to the actual Surfer company.

For play sake I've been chatting with a scammer that offered me Surfer job , paying in US dollars. I was texted a website and provided training code. TR4AA. The number came with Chicago area code 312

I’ve tested Surfer SEO’s AI detection and humanizer tools extensively, and I'm seriously disappointed. While other reputable detectors flag my content as 80–99% AI, Surfer consistently shows only 1% AI—which is wildly inaccurate. Then when I run its humanizer, it reports 99% human, even though other tools still detect around 50% AI.

This makes me question the reliability of Surfer’s detection logic. It’s giving me a false sense of confidence in content that likely needs much more genuine human editing. Overall, these features need significant improvement before I’d trust them for anything important.

Correction / Updated Review:
After a frustrating start with Surfer SEO—where I experienced major login issues and radio silence from support—they eventually addressed the problem. It took multiple tickets and consistent follow-up on my part, but the technical bugs were fixed and they did take responsibility. Support granted me a free month to make up for the trouble, and I’m now able to use the platform as intended. While the resolution was appreciated, I hope they improve response times moving forward.

The software looks great - and the reviews seemed like it was the software to use. I've tested it on 3 websites over a period of about 6 months. All websites decreased ranking as a result of implementing surfer's optimisation suggestions. I would not recommended it.

Grabbing information from the SERP in real time is a game changer for us. This has made our content creation much easier and helping us bring real value to our customers.

Surfer is a very important tool for my search engine optimization and digital marketing company.

A good tool for content creation, but it doesn’t work well for businesses with low content volume and limited Search Console data.

In most cases, Surfer AI ignores custom knowledge, so I have to edit most of the content. Additionally, its built-in AI can’t perform proper searches, so statistics and data are often incorrect.

Another issue is that if you want to humanize the content, the tool’s (almost) only strong point becomes ineffective.

The keyword map view is visually appealing, but it’s unrealistic and practically useless.

Finally, to use Surfer, you have to pay 5X while getting almost no extra value!

This product helps in creating content for SEO. It is absolutely essential for creating content. Surfer checks the best sites for the keyword and suggests the title, headings and keywords you should use in your content.

Automatic content writing is a bit expensive ($20 per page) but you don’t need it. You can use their tool to easily fill in the headings with paragraphs while creating the content page.

There are some bugs that haven't been fixed yet and sometimes completely irrelevant suggestions are shown, but I can say that they have fixed these issues. (Comparison between my first registration and now)

Recommended? Yes. A must have for every SEO professional. Even if you’re not going to write your content with it, you may want to check your content with Surfer.

We've been using Surfer for a good while now and it completely transformed the way we work on content and stay in sync. Everything is where you expect it to be, it's packed with useful features, and it does what it's supposed to. Extremely well, I might add.

Even though it is expensive, but surfer seo is trying evolving their product with ai and new data analyst. Also, their black Friday deal is worth to get... I can't believe i actually win one of their prize.
