Outstanding performance from the Surgery Group. Made me feel comfortable and positive throughout the whole process. It’s been 18 months now and my hairline looks solid. Trust the process and trust the people behind this group. Amazing people and will check on you frequently to make sure everything is ok. Can’t speak highly enough of this group.

From the experience I have had I wouldn’t go anywhere else

My hair has turned out mint and when I look back to the day…the daft stuff like offering us a hotel and even getting the dominoes in…the staff was grounded as dow to earth the doctor who did my hair advised on what to get and at one point said he wouldn’t do what I asked(lower my hairline) and now 18 months down the line I am so glad he didn’t and I took his advise

Very impressed with the hair transplant at SurgeryGroup in Nottingham. It was carried out by Dr Ahmad Noussa and his team there. I had the hair transplant procedure at the crown on August 23rd, three weeks ago.
My head was shaved on the day so be prepared to live with the consequences of that for a month or so afterwards. On the day it wasn’t completely pain free but once the local anaesthetic had been injected in the scalp in about half a dozen places there was no further pain on the day.
Dr Ahmad declared himself to be very pleased with the implanting of the 2000 hair follicles from the donor area at the back and sides to the crown. The crown itself all healed up completely over the following 2 weeks. I was given a week’s supply of antibiotics and a few days of pain relief codeine. I have had no infection at the crown site at all.
The only discomfort I have had and continue to have mildly is from the donor area which has felt tender and a little irritated.
Jake followed up on a daily basis for the first week checking on my progress, then after that a couple of times in the second week and he advised aloe Vera gel and tee tree oil for the irritation at the donor site. After 2 weeks he texted saying I was free to do most anything that suited. Dr Ahmad advised on the day that I should do no swimming for a month, which I am really missing, so I am looking to doing that next week. I have also found using witch hazel helpful in dealing with the tenderness at the donor site.
It has been a mostly very positive experience therefore and I recommend Dr Ahmad and the Surgery Group team most highly.

Caught between 3 stars and 4.

One month shy of 18 months (performed 6th March 2021) since the procedure to have my wingbacks turned into fullbacks (usual receding at corners of hairline) and some token grafts inserted into a thinning crown; all performed by Dr Ish and his 2 technicians. When booking with SurgeryGroup I scoured these reviews and found those that had waited 12-18 months few and far between so consciously held off.

The pre advice from Matthew was excellent and he runs a tight ship in helping you with all the anxiety fuelled questions and was very engaged to make sure the stay and appointment went smoothly. Similarly, the post op engagement from Jake was very good, someone to offer reassurance and be on hand to answer questions was very useful and appreciated.

The day itself. 1550 grafts to fill in my receded hairline and a small amount in my crown. It went quicker than I expected and wasn’t painful at all from what I can remember, numbing the donor region as you’d expect was mildly uncomfortable but I felt that the reviews I’d read beforehand were exaggerated and I wouldn't worry about this.

Dr Ish and his technicians were lovely to work with, a genuine pleasure and thoroughly nice people. As I mentioned, the day went a lot quicker than I was prepared for (4-5 hours all in).

Post op and results. So after 17 months and 2 days I feel I’m in a position to fairly summarise the results on top of the day itself.

If you’re contemplating the procedure you’ll no doubt be well versed in what to expect regarding scabbing, shedding, shock loss sleeping upright, ugly duckling stage etc etc so will save you the repetition.

After ~14 days I restarted minoxidil and had continued finasteride use throughout.

My results haven’t really changed from just over the year mark to now. I’m between 80-90% happy with the results:

i. The crown looks relatively unchanged which isn’t surprising given I had to persuade Dr Ish to place a token few hundred grafts in. I’m considering SMP to give the appearance of more density and close that chapter but will see as it isn’t terrible- I see the doctors point in that I still have hair in my crown, it has thinned however and the new grafts would affect the original hair- I don’t think the original hair is long for this world however so may need to do something in the future.

ii. the right side of my hairline work looks great, the grafts are well placed and the density is spot on, sits really well and I couldn’t be happier with it. The grafts here were placed by the male technician on the day (I forget his name, apologies).

iii. the left side of my hairline work is the only partial disappointment unfortunately. It’s ‘ok’. the density isn’t great, the placement is a little awkward e.g. couple of lines/ sections of thick/ multiple grafts next to sparse areas and relatively large areas of no density. I could have the density addressed with SMP but may explore a smaller FUE procedure to see if it can be remedied. The grafts were placed on this side by Dr Ish’s lady technician (again I forget her name, apologies).

All in all it’s a really nice clinic and I would say there’s a very good chance you’ll be happy with your results, I nearly am (annoyingly as it has been a long 17 months of hoping) and while I don’t regret it in the slightest, I can’t lie and say the results of 1 of the 2 sides doesn’t annoy me however, and I’m still a little self conscious about it.

I was asked to leave reviews a week or so post procedure which explains the lions share of the reviews you’ll read here- I wanted to wait and give a fair reflection beyond the on the day experience (which wasn’t my main concern, end results were/ are).

11 August 2022 update (2 days after the above posting):

Per the reply from SG below, I got in touch with Matthew and have a gratis procedure scheduled for 22nd of Aug to address the side that hasn’t turned out as well- I don’t think there could be a better example of how good their customer service is. Will update the review post op.

5 September 22 update:
The company were true to their word and gave me a complimentary second procedure of 281 grafts to fill in the side of the hairline that never came in as well as the other. I’m at 14 days today and healing well. As this is a relatively small procedure, the recovery has been far easier bar some minor itching in the recipient area. I also never needed to shave any of my existing hair (bar the donor region) and touch wood, no shock loss or shedding as yet but expect at least the latter to hit shortly.

Same as before, the support from Matthew and Jake has been first class as was the treatment from the Dr and technicians on the day itself. I continue to be impressed by them.

Will provide a brief 4month update when the time comes.

I’ve been wanting a hair transplant for many years. But never knew what company to ever go with to get this procedure done.

I was recommended by my brother in law to have my procedure with the Surgery group. I initially showed my interest on wanting a transplant. That day I was called by Jake who has been amazing from the very first chat we had.

After a chat and many questions asked, I was then having a consultation with the surgeon Dr Ahmad Moussa the same day to then booking in with them a few months later.

Recently just had my procedure and from the moment I turned up I was so welcomed into a very clean clinic with the most amazing staff. Dr Ahmad Moussa was incredible, so reassuring and professional. Along side him was him amazing team Phil, Emma and Amanda. They were so professional, efficient and most importantly had a laugh they made me feel so at ease in the procedure. I’m super chuffed with my results so early on and really looking forward to when it’s at its best.

After care from Jake has been effortless. Always checking in on me and answering any questions I may have. Just so easy the whole process.

I would 100% recommend Surgery Group for your hair transplant. The complete package from start to finish is just worth every Penny.

I flew in to surgery group from the United States and had the pleasure of discussing the procedure with Matthew Jake and Dr Ahmad prior to my transplant. The entire time leading up to my transplant all three gentleman checked in on me and gave me endless information for the big day. When I arrived in England they treated me incredibly and I can honestly say my trip was more then a hair transplant, they are truly amazing people. The day of my transplant I was picked up from the hotel and Dr Ahmad did an amazing job with his team and was very knowledgeable on the hairline and everything else. The procedure went very smoothly and I am not 14 days post operation and it looks fantastic! Jake and the team continuously follow up and check up on my and give me a fantastic post op care along with any questions although I am 4000 miles away. I highly recommend them, truly a 10/10 experience.

I am now at day 16 following my FUE procedure carried out by Dr Moussa and his team of experienced technicians - I could not be happier with how it all went.

I have nothing but positives to say about those who worked on me as well as Matthew and Jake who were so helpful both before and after the treatment.

If you’re considering a transplant, don’t bother looking elsewhere, just book in with the Surgery group, they’re legitimately the best.

After a few years of thinking about getting a hair transplant I decided that this year was the year. I enquired at various places in the UK and in Turkey, looking at price, reviews and patient outcomes and the surgery group came out as the best all rounder. Out of all the places these where the only place that would answer all my questions without pressuring you into booking. They go over and above your exceptions! Jake is wicked he is always at the end of the phone if you need him for anything and regularly checks in to see how your doing before the op, on the day and after the op making sure everything goes/went well and that you’ve got the right aftercare. I had my op done by Dr Ahmad, he settled any nerves that I had and made me feel at ease. Dr Ahmad and the team chatted and had banter with me throughout the op! they even offer to put you on medication to stop any future hair loss. I’ve got a few mates that have had their hair done at various places and most of them have had some form of bad experience along the way. These guys deserve 10 stars, cheers Jake, Matthew and the rest of the team :)

Late 2020 I was driving back from London and stopped to buy a coke. I happened to have a bandage on my head (long story) and the guy at the till asked if I'd had a hair transplant. "A what?" I said.
He rubbed his head and showed off his hair as he explained that he'd been to Turkey and had hair follicles taken from the back of his head and transplanted to the top. Now, having inherited an embarrassing bald patch, getting a little bigger each year, and at that time about the size of the palm of my hand, I rushed home to Google hair transplants.
Turkey is a hotspot for these surgeries - and it's pretty cheap too. But after a little while online you'll find the few horror stories that put me off. A safer bet, I thought, was to find somewhere in England. Surgery Group don't charge much more than the places in Turkey and I could drive back home the day after.I got in touch with them and was booked in for May 2021.
The day of the surgery I was feeling a bit panicky but Ish, the brain surgeon that was in charge that day, was very calming. He and Evie, his assistant, actually managed to get me laughing during the procedure, such was their amazing bedside manner. There was only a little bit of pain at first, as the anaesthetic was put into my scalp. We stopped half way and had a break - a little bit of food and a leg stretch - then got back to it. The whole surgery was over in 6 hours. And then back to the hotel to chill out. Well, this was the hardest part of the transplant - sleeping sitting up, it turns out, is really tricky - but after a week or so (I can't actually remember how many nights I had to sleep sitting up) it was done and dusted.
Then comes the waiting game. After the initial shedding of the transplanted hairs I was taking hundreds of photos every week to see each new hair as it came through. I'm not doing that any more - there must be a few thousand hairs there now and I'm officially no longer that guy with the weird monk-style bald patch. It honestly just looks like I'm thinning a bit at the back which, as a forty year old, isn't too bad. I'm going to the barbers every few weeks now, just for the novelty of it! One of the best things about where I am now, 11 months on, is that when I run my fingers through my 'new' hair I can feel a bit of stubble, which means that there is more hair to come and it will thicken up even more over the next few months.
There were a couple of downsides to my experience, which I will briefly go over:
Having hair transplanted into the crown you have two options - all the hairs in the same direction (better for looking thick) or hairs in a swirling pattern (looks thinner but more natural). I wish I had talked in more detail about this with Ish beforehand and gone for the natural swirl look rather than all in one direction.
I counted (yes I counted, I am a maths lecturer) a few hundred fewer follicles being extracted than I paid for. Am I bothered about that? Not really. Is that Surgery Groups fault? Absolutely not. I looked in to it after my surgery and there's a lot of BS about the number of follicles being transplanted and numbers get massively exaggerated - particularly from Turkey, where people claim they do 5000 or 6000 in a day. So, don't get caught up in the numbers and trust that Surgery group will give you good density whilst leaving plenty of follicles for a future procedure.
Another tip is, if you're allergic to antibiotics, let Matthew know before hand so Ish, or whoever does your procedure, can sort that out in advance.

Amazing what can happen after you stop for a coke on the M1!

I had been recommended this company from my brother who had his one about 1 year before mine.

He passed me Jake's details and from there I got some really good information to see if I would like to proceed with this procedure. I also had a consultation with Dr Moussa Ahmad and decided to go ahead with the surgery.

Surgery day was very professional. All the techs there were amazing and the Dr explained everything clearly and gave me instructions for aftercare.

Well I'm now over 3 months post surgery and already feel it's life changing for me. Previously I was wearing caps, but now I can finally enjoy my hair again.

If you're thinking of traveling to Turkey to get the procedure, I would really recommend getting it here in the U.K. with the surgery group. Good price and a very experienced group of professionals.
