Very helpful sales team

The user interface is very nicely designed, the skip to question based on answer logic is great unfortunately when you are designing a survey and want to validate a participants based on first yes or no questions also the noes are also counted within the responses which is not that great. The payment tiers are no very B2C friendly. On the other hand the sales team were very helpful when I contacted them regarding my usecase.

I forgot to cancel the subscription

I forgot to cancel the subscription, I wrote them the same day as the money got taken away and the won’t do me a refund. I understand they have it in their conditions, but firm that’s making money on this is not goot firm for me

let me explain the matter below.

Here’s a simple explanation of how it works under the Terms & Conditions, and when refunds apply vs. when they don’t:

Automatic renewal: The subscription automatically renews for another monthly/annual period unless the user cancels in advance in the Survio account administration.

How billing works: To keep the service continuous, Survio automatically bills Premium services for each new renewal period until the subscription is cancelled. Auto-renewal can be disabled in “My Account”.

Automatic renewals are not refundable: The Terms explicitly say that subsequent purchases, including the automatic renewal, will not be refunded.

Refunds — when the Terms do allow them (only in these cases)

First subscription payment: within 14 days of purchase, only if no Premium services were used.
Duplicate/double order.
Product not delivered.
Technical issues that cannot be resolved within 10 business days after the issue is reported.

Great modern tool

The formatting and appearance of the questionnaire are great, the tools for analyzing the results, where they are automatically processed into graphs you can use to interpret the data are very useful.

I'm only missing some option to add conditional questions that get enabled/become visible depending on how people answered a previous question

Survio is a unique App that allows you to perform research in a wide spectrum of fashions. I really appreciate the user experience and they are always available for help. No other app of surveys have the functions available in Survio. As a seasoned consultant, I strongly recommend survio over other options in the market.

Survio is that kind of platform that…

Survio is that kind of platform that really is the best for beginners. It's easy to understand and when there is a problem, the customer support will help you right away. The questionnaire evaluation especially is very clear, and nice to look at. It has a lot of options even though some of them aren't free. I just got a bit confused about some things regarding the Upgrade. I think there is a way to maybe explain the whole process better. But at the end I'm satisfied with the customer support and the platform overall.

Easy and quick survey tool

Having already gained experience with other survey tools, we decided on Survio. Setting up a survey is quick and easy, the reporting options are good and visually appealing, which is a very important point for us. The support was prompt and resolved our issue.

Survio, a really great Tool for Surveys

Survio is a really great Tool to use when you want to make a Survey. In comparison with other tools like google forms you can do way more things and see a bigger variety of Statistics to your Survey. I would really reccomend this tool.

I chose this website to create questionnaires for my bachelor’s thesis, and I couldn’t have made a better choice. Everything is clearly explained, there are plenty of options for creating questions, and the system automatically analyzes the results in several formats based on the responses. Survio was recommended to me by a colleague who also used it for her final thesis, and I will continue to recommend it as well.

This is a sweeping, baseless accusation. Using emotional language like “scam” to describe a service simply because of personal negligence in managing a subscription is both misleading and unfair. Survio has transparent terms of service, visible pricing, and multiple reminders about renewal policies. Calling it a scam disrespects both the company and the many users who responsibly use the platform without issue.

“They say ‘one-time’ everywhere where makes people confused…”

This claim falls apart quickly. The term “one-time” refers to specific features or survey functionalities, not to subscriptions. In contrast, the Terms and Conditions (Section 5.3) explicitly state:

“To ensure uninterrupted service, we’ll automatically bill you for Premium Services from the date you submit your initial payment and on each renewal period thereafter until cancellation.”

This automatic renewal clause is standard practice across the SaaS industry and is clearly documented both on the pricing pages and the checkout flow. Survio doesn’t hide this – users are informed before making any payment.

“…and forget to unsubscribe and then decline to refund the renewal.”

This is an issue of user responsibility, not service misconduct. Again, from the Terms (Section 5.6):

“Although Survio will not refund any amount nor grant any credit for contracts that are cancelled before reaching their end date.”

🚨 Be VERY cautious!

I signed up for 12 months with Survio for my university dissertation, and it was excellent for my survey. The support team were very helpful when I had a couple of small issues, however, the problems began a year later.

In February, I received an email from Survio with the subject: "Are you going to keep/renew your current Survio subscription?" This email made it clear that renewal was a choice I needed to confirm. Since I had no intention of renewing after I completed my studies over 6 months ago, I thought nothing more of it.

A week later, Survio unexpectedly charged me £278 - on a new credit card, as the one I originally used in 2024 had expired. This raises serious concerns about how they were able to charge a different card without my authorization.

I contacted them explaining that I had not used the service in over six months and did not agree to renew. Their response was dismissive, simply stating that they would not take any more payments from me, without addressing how or why they took this one in the first place.

Despite a few emails back and forth, they refused to issue a refund. I have since disputed the charge with my credit card provider, who have escalated this to Mastercard to prevent Survio from billing me again.

Survio’s response perfectly illustrates the issue
- hiding behind T&Cs rather than acknowledging misleading communication.

Their customer retention email explicitly suggested that renewal was a choice, yet they now claim that auto-renewal is clearly stated in their T&Cs. If auto-renewal was the default, why send an email implying I had a decision to make? That’s deceptive, and no amount of small print changes that fact.

This isn’t about corporate clients with ongoing needs; it’s about students and one-time users who only require the service briefly but get caught out by misleading communication.

Their refund policy conveniently ignores the fact that I haven’t used the service in six months, have no need for it going forward, and didn’t knowingly authorize the charge. A few pounds here or there, maybe, but this is £278!

My credit card provider are handling the dispute. Based on other reviews, I am not the only person affected by this practice.

Survio - your handling of this situation isn’t just bad business; it’s deliberately misleading, unethical, and terrible business practice!

According to Survio's Terms and Conditions (Section 5.3), all premium subscriptions are set to automatically renew unless you manually cancel via your account settings. This means that if you did not actively cancel your subscription before its renewal date, the charge was processed correctly and in accordance with the agreement you accepted when signing up​.

2) Notification Email & Misinterpretation
You mention receiving an email from Survio asking if you were going to keep or renew your subscription, which you took as an indication that renewal was optional. However, this email was a courtesy notification, not a request for explicit renewal approval. Since subscriptions renew by default, unless actively canceled, not responding to this email did not prevent the charge.

3) Refund Policy
Survio's policy is explicit:
Automatic renewals are non-refundable.
Refunds are only issued in specific cases, such as duplicate charges, technical issues, or first-time purchases within 14 days where no premium features have been used​.
Since you were on a renewal and had already used the service before, your case does not qualify for a refund under these terms.

Final Thoughts

Your frustration is understandable, but Survio acted within its stated terms. Automatic renewal is an industry-standard practice, and the responsibility to cancel in time falls on the user. The charge on a different card was likely due to your bank’s automatic card updater service.

For future subscriptions, always review the renewal terms carefully and proactively cancel services you no longer need.

Unclear about payments, be carefull

Be careful: this company is very unclear about payments. You sign up for a subscription, but it is absolutely unclear that you are "stuck with it", they write off money after a year without asking, without a reminder that your subscription has ended. They do not want to cooperate if you have problems with this, I would definitely use another website in the future. Their application works fine but is not unique.

Addendum: After posting this review I received an email stating that they would now refund the money that they had previously debited. I am grateful for that.

Satisfied with Survio for registration forms

We have started using Survio to streamline the participant registration process for our events, and we must say that we are very satisfied. The platform is intuitive, easy to use, and allows us to quickly create customized questionnaires to meet our needs.

The only improvement we would appreciate is the ability to automatically send confirmation emails to participants after they complete the questionnaire.
