Learn Vietnamese With SVFF Reviews 

I picked up SVFF after following their youtube channel for a few years. I recently decided taking personal classes with a private tutor was the right choice for me. I have been taking classes for about 5 months now and it has been a great experience throughout.

My tutor, Minh Trang, has been nothing short of a great teacher. As an Vietnamese American, she helped review and strengthened my basics of the Vietnamese language. My reading, listening, and speaking skills have improved greatly as she has improved my confidence with the language. Chi Trang makes the lessons fun and exciting as learning doesn't necessarily feel like schooling but rather a cultural exchange. She is very patient, understanding, and supportive throughout all our lessons.

For the SVFF learning content, supplemental vocabulary for some lessons would be beneficial. I have noticed that some lessons have vocabulary not introduced in previous lessons in some the exercises; however, everything else has been great and have a lot of practice material.

I’ve been studying Vietnamese with Miss Thảo Nguyên through SVFF for a few months now, and it’s been a great experience. She’s a very good teacher — patient, engaging, and often shares interesting insights about both the language and Vietnamese culture.

The learning materials are well structured and cover a wide range of topics. I really appreciate that the lessons focus on Southern Vietnamese, which is harder to find online since most resources are for the Northern accent.

SVFF is a great and extensive resource! Miss Kim Ngân is a wonderful teacher who really puts effort into their teaching! They provide so much helpful information and make you feel comfortable while learning something totally new.

I have been learning Vietnamese with Mr. Hữu Thịnh for seven months via SFVV (49 hours) as a native English speaker. My goal is to speak some Vietnamese ahead of a first trip to Vietnam. Since starting my lessons, em Thịnh has been an outstanding, encouraging, and supportive teacher for every lesson and even in between lessons through chat. He is always on time, very respectful, and makes the lessons enjoyable! Em Thịnh teaches English in Vietnam across multiple grade levels, and it is clear that he understands that learning a new language takes time and effort with lots of positive encouragement.

I've had the best experience learning Vietnamese with SVFF. My teacher, Miss Thuy Tien is incredibly patient, reassuring and adaptable to my learning needs. She always makes our lessons very engaging and has really helped me to improve and build confidence in my language skills. I look forward to our lessons every week!

As a Vietnamese-American that didn’t grow up speaking Vietnamese at home, outside resources had always seemed like a lost cause: as most of them are incredibly dated and specific to the northern dialect- but SVFF has been a lifesaver.
My teacher, Miss Kim Ngân, is an angel! ❤️ She’s been incredibly patient and encouraging and I’ve already learned more in two weeks with her than I have in years trying to teach myself. I look forward to continuing my language learning journey with her and SVFF.

I’ve been learning Vietnamese with SVVF, mainly with my teacher Phi, for 4 years now. Phi has helped me create a new life here in Vietnam thanks to improving my Vietnamese. SVFF has great materials to use during our lessons, and self study materials. But at the same time Phi is flexible and able to prepare a lesson plan about any topic if we want to cover something the standard materials don’t. Just this Saturday we were finished our last lesson about Dak Lak and the traditions of that region.

I would highly recommend SVFF to anyone looking to learn Vietnamese. My teacher is Miss Thuy Tien. She is patient, kind, and easy to feel comfortable with. She does a good job of noticing which areas I struggle with and giving me extra practice when I need it. I feel that my Vietnamese is continually improving even though I admittedly don't study as much as I should. I think this is a testament to Miss Tien's teaching.

Thịnh Hữu is the friendliest and most patient teacher you will ever find, even coping with an old student with a tight schedule like me. He is really like a younger brother to me, except he isn't as nagging as younger siblings often are :-) He encourages me and does not mind going through sections again when I feel like I need it. Thanks to him I feel that I will actually be able to communicate in Vietnamese one day in the future. The online learning materials from SVFF has some layout shortcomings, but Thinh and the way the SVFF lessons are structured makes up for that in a great way. I highly recommend him to anyone struggeling with pronounciation and sentence building. Looking forward to my next lesson with him!

Miss Thuy Tien is an excellent Vietnamese teacher! She is patient with me and genuinely wants me to succeed. If you are interested in learning Vietnamese, but you are intimidated, I suggest taking lessons from Miss Thuy Tien! I am more confident with my skills each lesson.

I have been learning Vietnamese at SVFF with Miss Thuy Tien for several months now, and I would highly recommend her as a teacher. Her teaching style is very engaging, and she is a very friendly and patient teacher who is always willing to answer my questions about the vocabulary, concepts, grammar and pronunciation. I would highly recommend anyone interested in learning Vietnamese to try SVFF. The course content is very well presented and practical, and the 1-on-1 lesson style is very effective. Overall, SVFF is a phenomenal resource for learning southern Vietnamese that is very reasonably priced.

I would like to clarify that I did not expect an unrealistically low price, this price was literally given to me by the teacher herself during our WhatsApp conversation. I still have the full conversation, and the screenshot is available upon request.

In addition, on your website it clearly stated:
“Beginner pack level 1 - with a native teacher , $29.99.”
If this price was meant for a self-study course only, then the website description should clearly say “without native teacher.”

For me, this is not about the amount of money, but about principle, transparency, and correct communication.
Mistakes can happen, but when the information on your own site and your teacher’s confirmation both say the same thing, it becomes understandable that a student feels misled.

Miss Thuy Tien with SVFF has helped me so much! She is patient, kind and a great teacher. She is also easy to talk to and get along with. Starting with her and SVFF has helped me gain confidence in my vietnamese and also learn a lot of vocabulary and grammar that I did not know even as a vietnamese american! I look forward to our lessons every week and am grateful that SVFF exists! It is a great program. I recommend Thuy Tien for anyone!! She is AMAZING!!

I have been learning Vietnamese with Ms Tien Thuy since June 2025. She is very patient, understanding, engaged and had taught me a lot already. I am writing this review because I saw she was mentioned with a one star review of SVFF and that is so unfair. The person who wrote that expected 10 lessons for 3 dollars each, a crazy price anywhere in the world. SVFF is a great school with a lot of resources and it is more than reasonably priced for private lessons, in person or online. I highly recommend Ms Tien and SVFF and I ask you to disregard the 1-star review as it came from someone unreasonable. Ms Tien is the best!

I am fairly introverted and was initially nervous about taking Vietnamese lessons, but Thịnh‘s super friendly nature immediately made me feel comfortable. His teaching style is gentle enough that I never feel discouraged when I make mistakes, but it is also critical enough to help me identify where I'm going wrong and how I can improve. Throughout each lesson, Thịnh identifies concepts that I found challenging and gives me customised homework to help strengthen those areas. Along with an excellent teacher, the course content is great and seems well-paced. After only 10 lessons, I already feel more confident with my pronunciation. I highly recommend Thịnh and SVFF for learning Vietnamese.

Learning with Teacher Thinh has been a great experience. The program's well - structured and easy to follow - perfect for beginners or anyone serious about learning the Southern Vietnamese dialect.

What I really like is how personal Teacher Thinh makes every lesson. He doesn't just teach the language - he brings in Vietnamese culture and history, which makes it all come alive. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and takes pride in helping them grow. Over time, he's become not just my teacher, but like a brother - someone who truly wants to see you succeed.

I'm learning faster than I expected and look forward to every class. It's been an awesome experience all around.

SVFF is definitely the leading language school for Southern Vietnamese. I've worked with several wonderful teachers there, including currently learning with Hữu Thịnh who is a very patient and clear teacher! He's also been kind enough to help adjust things slightly when necessary for my learning level. Highly recommend SVFF!
